Forced to Drink and Apologize, He Couldn’t Win Me Back Even After Drinking Himself Sick

To vent his new girlfriend’s anger, Jack called me to a bar to drink an entire bottle of vodka. He said if I didn’t drink, he’d break off our engagement. Jack and I had been together for twelve years. He was certain I couldn’t leave him. I picked up the bottle, then poured the entire bottle of vodka over his head: “Jack, times have changed. You need to wake up and face reality.” “Tell Lily! Tell her! If she doesn’t come, she’ll never be welcome in my family again!” Jack was clearly drunk, his voice unbearably loud. “Jack, Jack! Stop drinking. Don’t make your fiancée angry for real!” his friends urged. I wasn’t angry. I’d experienced this kind of thing too many times. At first, it hurt, but now I felt nothing. When I arrived, a scantily-clad, curvaceous girl was sitting on Jack’s lap. Seeing me, Jack squinted for a moment, then broke into a grin. “Come here, Lily. Let me introduce you. This is my girlfriend.” The girl was quite bold. She extended her hand to me, “Nice to meet you, sis. I’m Jack’s new girlfriend.” I was utterly tired of these boring charades. “Jack, if you have nothing else, I’ll be leaving. I’m very busy. You and your girlfriend enjoy yourselves.” The girl grabbed my arm, but I walked away forcefully, causing her to fall to the ground. “Baby, I’m fine. It’s my fault for upsetting her. Don’t blame her,” Emily’s voice as she fell sobered Jack up. He hurriedly helped Emily up. Then he looked at me and slammed a bottle on the table. “One bottle of Grey Goose. Drink it all, then apologize to Emily. Otherwise, you’ll never set foot in my family’s house again.” Emily, enjoying the drama, gently shook Jack’s arm. “Baby, don’t do this to her. How can she handle drinking so much?” Jack snorted, “She can handle anything. She always has.” I called out to the door, “Please.” The driver walked in with a large suitcase. I opened it, and suddenly the room was filled with glittering jewels and luxuries. These were all the gifts Jack’s family had given me since I met him. “Jack, please check. I think since we’re breaking up, these things should be returned.” Jack was caught off guard by my action. “Lily, think carefully. Once you return these things, it won’t be easy to get them back.” “That’s exactly what I want.” We often had scenes like this, but usually, it started with Jack humiliating me and ended with me giving in. Whether it was drinking, apologizing to his new girlfriends, or singing and dancing, I always complied. So today’s situation was something Jack and his friends had never seen before. Everyone started to persuade him, “Jack, that’s enough. Your fiancée has been accommodating enough.” But Jack’s temper was well-known. Without persuasion, he might have let it go, but the more people tried to stop him, the more stubborn he became. Jack looked straight into my eyes, “I don’t care if you’re really angry or just trying to manipulate me, Lily. I’ll tell you one last time. Drink and apologize, or you’ll never be welcome in my family again.” Emily added fuel to the fire, “Now that Lily is the CEO, things are different. Jack, you can’t talk to Miss CEO like that anymore.” Jack snorted disdainfully, “Without me, what are you, Lily?” I laughed coldly, then poured the entire bottle of vodka over Jack’s head: “Jack, times have changed. You need to wake up.”

Jack was right. I was nothing. My father was the most useless son in the Thompson family, and my mother was his mistress. My father was a womanizer, with numerous mistresses and lovers. He didn’t truly love anyone; he just wanted to express his dissatisfaction with his wife by living a wild life outside. And I was born under these circumstances. My mother had once begged my father, “My life is already ruined, but my child, how can they live their whole life with the stigma of being illegitimate?” But my father didn’t care. All his actions in life were meant to embarrass his wife and the Thompson family. His father thought he was useless, so he decided to be useless just to spite him. His wife thought he was good for nothing, so he indulged in all vices possible. Having an illegitimate child was enough to bring shame to the entire Thompson family and his wife. Naturally, my father wouldn’t miss such an opportunity. “Get rid of it, no problem,” my father said, smiling as he caressed my mother’s ear. “I’ll tell the hospital to hold off. Your parents have lived long enough, at least that’s what their daughter thinks, right?” My mother had only gotten involved with my father to pay for her parents’ medical treatment. She could only keep me with tears in her eyes. My birth earned my father, who was over thirty, a good beating from his father. But he was overjoyed. When he came back, he hugged and kissed me repeatedly. His eyes were full of the pleasure of revenge. “Lily, you’re not just daddy’s daughter. You’re daddy’s gun and sword.” He laughed heartily, playing with my arms as if loading a gun. His wife, coming from a noble family, naturally wouldn’t stoop to be enemies with someone of my mother’s status. She had sent people to vandalize our home before, but later, probably feeling it was beneath her, she gave up. I wasn’t a boy, so I wasn’t seen as a threat or needed to be brought back to the family to raise. So I grew up peacefully with my mother until I was thirteen.

On the way back to the office, Brian asked me, “Want to grab a drink? You seem upset, Miss CEO.” We left in a hurry, so I didn’t have time to call my driver. Brian, the eldest son of the Chen Group, was working with me at the time, so he offered to drive me to the bar. “No drinks. Let’s head back to the office,” I replied. Brian and I hadn’t been working at the office for long when I received a video call from Jack. “Where are you? Who are you with?” Brian had his head down when he entered the room earlier, so Jack didn’t recognize him at first. After a while, when it sunk in, he started interrogating, “You don’t need to tell me. Brian, the eldest son of the Chen Group, right?” “Well done, Lily. We’re not even broken up yet, and you’re already with another man? If you wanted to make me jealous, you could have just said so. Listen, if you apologize now, I, Jack, will be magnanimous and let this slide.” He smiled smugly, and his friends started to join in. “That’s our Jack, always knows how to handle his girlfriend.” “I knew it. Miss CEO loves Jack so much, she’d do anything for him. How could she just leave like that?” “I might not have been clear earlier because I left in a hurry. Jack, you and I are over now. You have no right to interfere with who I’m with, and I’m not interested in who you’re with. I’ve returned everything your family gave me. From now on, no matter your status, whether you live or die, I won’t look back.” “You know me. I never regret my decisions.” With that, I hung up the phone.
