After leaving my fiancé, I inherited family fortune.

My cousin Amanda Morris seduced my fiancé Kevin Woodson for money. I, Katrina Jennings, upon learning this news, gave her five million dollars and wished her and Kevin a long-lasting relationship. Amanda thought I had lost my mind, but only I knew that once I got rid of Kevin, I could have the entire family fortune to myself. I took in Amanda after her family went bankrupt, never expecting she would seduce my fiancé. Amanda’s family was once wealthy; she spent money like water, loved shopping and frequenting bars. She could have continued living that way, but her family’s bankruptcy left her drowning in debt overnight. My mother, Helena Morris, took pity on her niece, helped pay off her family’s debts, and invited her to live with us. During this time, Amanda seduced Kevin. I’m not a fool—even though they tried to hide their affair, my feminine intuition told me something was wrong. I started paying attention to their interactions and soon discovered the truth. They often got intimate when I wasn’t around. After finding out, I didn’t get angry but pretended not to know. I wanted to see how these two had gotten together in the first place. Amanda was raised in a wealthy family, while Kevin was just squandering my family’s money. I couldn’t understand how they ended up together. My parents were abroad while I stayed in the country. Amanda and I lived together in the mansion, along with Kevin, who had been my betrothed since childhood. Actually, my original fiancé wasn’t him but his brother, Daniel Woodson. However, according to Helena, Daniel left the Woodson family at a young age, so I had to get engaged to Kevin instead. The Woodson family had already fallen from grace when I was little, but my parents weren’t the type to break promises for profit. To honor the older generation’s commitment, they never dissolved the engagement between our families. After college graduation, Kevin came to Seattle where I lived, and moved in with me under the pretext of having nowhere to stay. It was then that I saw him for who he truly was. He was good-looking with decent manners, highly educated with an impressive resume. Anyone seeing him driving a BMW and living in a mansion would think he was successful. In reality, even his college tuition was funded by my family, the BMW was a gift from my father, and the mansion was mine. Yet he loved showing these off. I remember once when he introduced me to his college friends, I discovered he had been portraying himself as a rich heir. Considering our engagement, I spared his pride and didn’t expose him. But I never imagined he would use this fake rich persona, created with my family’s money, to make Amanda believe he was the one with real wealth. Helena and Teddy Morris weren’t close. Teddy had always thought highly of himself and didn’t know the extent of my parents’ overseas businesses, so Amanda was unaware too. From my observation, Amanda seduced Kevin because she mistakenly believed I was wealthy because of him. After discovering their affair, I initially planned to pretend ignorance until I gathered enough evidence to break off the engagement with Kevin. However, they were so careless in hiding their disgraceful behavior that I caught them in the act. When I opened the door, I never expected that in less than ten minutes after I’d left, Amanda and Kevin would already be having sex. When I discovered this scene, they seemed so engrossed that I felt awkward interrupting. Only after I coughed twice did they realize my presence. Amanda and Kevin frantically covered themselves with clothes. I smiled awkwardly, thinking it was pointless for them to hide after I’d already seen everything. Before I could speak, Amanda burst into tears while Kevin panicked. “Katrina, Kevin and I are truly in love. I’m sorry, I…” Amanda said.

I ignored her words and instead watched Kevin’s reaction. I noticed he was staring at me intently, seemingly afraid of me. I smiled slightly and interrupted Amanda mid-sentence. “That’s enough.” I walked over to the two of them. Initially, I had planned to collect evidence to show my parents, to give them an explanation, but now it seemed unnecessary. I took out my phone and snapped a photo of the two of them. They realized I was taking a picture and hurriedly moved apart, but it was too late. I had already gotten what I wanted. Satisfied, I looked at the photo on my phone and sent it directly to my family’s group chat. This would definitely end the engagement. I felt happy, and even looking at those two disgusting people on the bed didn’t make me as angry anymore. I took a bank card from my purse and tossed it onto the bed. “There’s five million dollars in this card…” Before I could finish, Amanda interrupted me, crying. “Katrina, I will never leave Kevin. We love each other, we…” Listening to her, I was shocked. I never thought there were people in this world who truly didn’t care about money. Kevin quickly cut her off. “Katrina, let me explain…” “No need. There’s five million dollars in the card. Consider it a wedding gift. Whatever happens to you two from now on has nothing to do with me,” I said. After I spoke, Amanda looked at me in disbelief. She probably thought I’d lost my mind. Kevin had put on such a good act that anyone would think I was the one who married up. But Kevin’s expression wasn’t good. He knew very well that he was the parasite, but with Amanda present, Kevin wouldn’t try to sweet-talk me now for the sake of his meal ticket. This suited me perfectly. Now I had a solid reason to break off our engagement. “Katrina… you don’t need to do this. Five million dollars must be a lot even for you. Since it’s what Kevin has given you before, you should keep it.” Amanda’s triumphant smirk made my blood boil, but to reassure her further, I pretended to be indifferent and said with a hint of sadness: “All these years, I’ve been wholeheartedly devoted to Kevin. Even though it ends like this, take the five million dollars as my blessing to you both.” I put on a deeply wronged expression. My apparent vulnerability must have given Amanda, who was usually dependent on others, a sense of satisfaction. She actually went up and hugged Kevin. Kevin was displeased, I could tell. He neither wanted to lose Amanda, this gentle, dependent woman, nor me, his actual meal ticket. But since he accepted Amanda’s embrace, I felt there was no point in staying any longer, so I turned to leave. Even as I left, Amanda remained smug. She surely thought she’d struck gold, not knowing that everything Kevin had came from my family. I had been dreading being tied to Kevin for life, but Amanda had unexpectedly solved my problem. After leaving the villa, I felt exceptionally happy. Meanwhile, my family’s group chat was already filled with shocked messages. To make the charade complete, I’d let Kevin and Amanda stay in the villa for a few days. After the engagement was officially broken off, I would take back everything that belonged to me.

My parents are abroad with a time difference, so they probably haven’t seen my message in the family group chat yet. When they find out, they’ll definitely be furious. They thought so highly of Kevin, never imagining he would turn out to be such a scumbag. Sure enough, as soon as my parents saw the message, they immediately called me on video. After I explained the situation to them, Helena looked very displeased. After all, she was the one who suggested Amanda and I live together, and she never expected Amanda would hook up with my fiancé. I comforted Helena, and she seemed to feel a little better. As for my father, he always knew I wanted to break off the engagement with Kevin. In the past, he would have scolded me for the sake of the so-called friendship between our elders, but now that I had evidence, he couldn’t say much. He just told me he would terminate the engagement as soon as possible. I thought everything would go according to plan, but I didn’t expect Amanda would catch on. On the fifth day after I discovered their affair, Amanda showed up at my door. By then, I had already broken off my engagement with Kevin, but I hadn’t gone to reclaim the villa yet, just to let Amanda, the sucker who picked up after me, feel secure. Who knew Kevin would be so stupid that she would figure it out? When Amanda confronted me, she looked like she wanted to kill me, with fire in her eyes. “Katrina, you’re disgusting. To get rid of this gold digger, you pushed him onto me,” Amanda was seething with hatred. It made sense—whenever Kevin showed off his wealth to her while I was present, I never exposed him. It wasn’t to mislead her, but because Kevin was my fiancé, and I didn’t want to emasculate him. Who would have thought that foolish Amanda would go after him? I smiled faintly. I had already achieved my goal and didn’t want to say much to the person in front of me. “Amanda, you slept with my fiancé, and somehow that’s my fault?” Whether my words stung her or not, her face instantly darkened, and her next words were even more venomous. “Katrina! You bitch, dumping this gold digger on me. No way! I want compensation!” Hearing the seemingly innocent Amanda speak so crudely, I frowned in displeasure, particularly disliking her demand for compensation. I took a sip of coffee and replied calmly, “Back then, I already gave you five million dollars. I have nothing more to give.” At the time, Amanda had looked down on the five million I gave her. She must have thought she had landed a wealthy man. How could she have known that her so-called wealthy man was spending my family’s money? Obviously, my words triggered Amanda. She exclaimed heatedly, “Katrina! I’m telling you, if you don’t compensate me, I’ll destroy your reputation completely, do you understand?” She practically shouted these words, while I remained calm, not understanding how someone who seduced another’s fiancé could be so self-righteous. But later I understood why she was so confident at that time. I put down my cup and looked coldly at the agitated Amanda in front of me. “Amanda, I’d like to see how you plan to ruin my reputation. Remember, you’re the one who hooked up with my fiancé, not the other way around.” This time my words cut deep. In a fit of rage, she flipped over my table, grabbed the Chanel bag I had bought her, and stormed out furiously. Before leaving, she didn’t forget to make one last threat: “Katrina, just you wait. I’ll make sure your reputation is utterly destroyed.”
