  • After being reborn, I take revenge on my orc husband

My cousin Maria Cook needed to sacrifice 100 Orcs to activate her bloodline power. The last Orc she chose was the lark I had previously rescued. I refused Maria’s request, and we almost came to blows. Maria couldn’t beat me, so she had to choose another Orc instead. However, during the family’s Orcish Power training, the lark refused to share his Orcish Power with me. He even ambushed me while I was fighting a beast, causing us both to perish. Only then did I realize that the lark actually hated me for choosing him in the first place. After being reborn, I decided to personally deliver the lark to Maria and choose another Orc instead. ***** John Smith was a lark with an injured throat, his voice hoarse and unpleasant. In that stinking, filthy, virus-ridden Orcish Bazaar, no one wanted him. I brought John back and spent a lot of money on precious medicine to heal his throat. Maria came to me asking for John. To protect John, I almost got into a fight with Maria. John was very timid and easily startled. He always showed resistance and nervousness to my touch, cowering in corners and trembling all over. So I felt sorry for him and stopped touching him. Every time I gave him medicine, I would place it far away from him. The family’s Orcish Power training had a rule: anyone with an Orc had to participate in combat. I asked John to share his Orcish Power with me. As long as an Orc shared their Orcish Power with me, that force could combine with the spiritual power in my body, and my abilities would increase by one level. However, John deliberately ignored me and acted very nervous. So I stopped pressuring him. Even without Orcish Power’s help, I could still protect both of us. After entering the Artificial Forest, John and I got separated from the others and encountered a powerful beast. Not only did John refuse to help, but at the most critical moment, he gathered his Orcish Power and struck me from behind. I looked at him with questioning and shocked eyes. John’s gaze was full of malice. He said: “If it weren’t for you, I would have become Maria’s Orc long ago. Someone with her powerful bloodline deserves to be my master. Someone with her beauty deserves my affection. Now she has a better choice. This is all your fault.” After saying that, he turned and walked away. Only then did I realize he hated me for not giving him to Maria in the first place. That strike of his wasn’t enough to kill me immediately, but it greatly weakened my ability to fight the beast. I had to fight the beast while injured. For some reason, the beast suddenly went berserk, desperately trying to kill me. In the end, we both perished together. After death, my soul floated into the air, and I witnessed John blocking another beast’s attack for Maria and giving her all his Orcish Power. Only those who had signed contracts with Orcs could share Orcish Power with them. For those who hadn’t signed contracts with Orcs, the Orcs could only “gift” their power away. John was actually willing to go that far for Maria. Later, when Maria accidentally suffered a minor injury, John took her hand and began to sing. He truly was a lark—his singing was particularly beautiful and could purify all negative emotions. But he had never sung for me. He hadn’t even told me his throat had healed. My weightless soul trembled with anger. ***** The scenery outside the window flew backward rapidly, and the road ahead grew steeper. “Miss, we’re almost at the Orcish Bazaar,” the driver said in his honest voice. My mind was in chaos for a long time before I finally confirmed that I had been reborn. At this time in my previous life, I was heading to the Orcish Bazaar to choose my first Orc, and I had chosen John, who looked so pitiful. Perhaps even heaven couldn’t stand my fate, which is why I was reborn at this moment. I had the driver stop the car and called Maria. After a few rings, Maria’s impatient voice came through, telling me to speak quickly if I had something to say. “Maria, are you going to the Orcish Bazaar? Don’t you still need one last Orc?” I tried to control my tone and spoke calmly. Maria’s voice grew louder, full of disdain: “What good Orcs could there be in a place like the Orcish Bazaar? Only you would go to such a place.” I said with certainty: “There’s something good there today. My information is absolutely accurate.” Silence fell on the other end of the line. Maria was a Chaos Bloodline holder, something that appeared maybe once in a hundred years in the Orcish Disciplinarian Clan. This bloodline was very powerful, but she had to sacrifice 100 Orcs with sufficient Orcish Power to activate it. Otherwise, no matter how strong the bloodline was, it would be useless. The family was unwilling to give up this opportunity and had successively sent Maria 99 Orcs. These Orcs all eventually became “nutrients” to activate her bloodline. By her eighteenth year, Maria finally needed just one last Orc. Orcs with powerful Orcish Power were already hard to find. Especially after the family had already sent Maria 99 of them, such Orcs became even rarer. To find the last Orc, Maria had been searching for a year. Sure enough, before long, Maria said coldly: “I’m coming over right now. You better not be lying to me.” The Orcish Bazaar was an unofficial Orc trading market. It was stinking and filthy, dark and damp. If you were unlucky, you might even encounter virus-carrying Orcs. Even Orcs who were healthy when they first arrived would become sickly after staying here for a while. Maria waved her hand in front of her nose to dispel the foul air. She said with disgust: “Where’s this good thing you mentioned?” I pointed accurately toward John’s location.

A delicate young man was trapped in a massive iron cage. He wore loose white clothing that exposed his arms and legs, curled up in the corner of the cage, looking in terrible condition. Sensing someone watching him, he lifted his head in confusion. When he saw Maria, he almost immediately sensed the thick bloodline power emanating from her. Maria frowned with disgust and said, “That frail-looking guy? I can’t sense any Orcish Power from him at all.” “He’s hiding his power,” I said with a smile. “Go take a closer look.” Maria rolled her eyes at me, then impatiently stepped on the only small patch of clean ground and walked over. Seeing Maria approach, John’s face lit up with joy. He stared at Maria without blinking, his eyes filled with longing and submission. It turned out John had taken a liking to Maria the moment he laid eyes on her. I was truly blind in my past life—I couldn’t even see something so obvious. When Maria reached the cage door, John immediately and eagerly released his Orcish Power, wanting to prove his usefulness. The fluctuation of this Orcish Power was identical to when he slapped me in the Artificial Forest in his previous life. Maria’s previously cold face broke into a delighted smile. She thought to herself: “I’ve finally found the last qualified sacrifice.” Watching the two of them, I sneered inwardly. After making eye contact with me, John immediately shrank back and quietly touched his finger. So he had been reborn too! In the past, when he pretended to be nervous and scared in front of me, this was exactly his reaction. As for touching his finger—I had given him a very rare Dimensional Storage Ring back then. He’d developed this habit ever since. I took a symbolic walk around the Orcish Bazaar. In this life, I had no intention of choosing an Orc again. The lesson of betrayal from my past life was more than enough. I walked to the end of the Orcish Bazaar and turned back. Just then, a pair of bloody hands grabbed my pant leg. I looked down to see who it was. I found a male Orc whose entire body was severely beaten and wounded. He was well-built, his back covered with crisscrossing whip marks, and even one of the dog ears on his head was missing a small piece. Another man pretending to be pitiful to gain sympathy. This time, I wouldn’t fall for it again. I yanked my pant leg free and said, “Sorry. I don’t keep Orcs.” The male Orc looked up at me, his eyes filled with the desperate desire to survive. He said, “I can form a Death Pact with you.” I stopped in my tracks and stared straight at him, somewhat shocked. In my twenty years of life, I had never seen an Orc voluntarily request a Death Pact. Most Orcs were forced into Death Pacts. Some would even choose to self-destruct on the spot rather than form one. Because Death Pacts were particularly disadvantageous to Orcs. Whatever the master commanded, the Orc had to do—including degrading acts, even dying. “Fine.” I heard myself answer. The price for buying this canine Orc wasn’t expensive—it was even less than John’s price. The male Orc immediately grabbed my hand and transferred all his Orcish Power to me. Then my mind received his request to form a Death Pact. I agreed to the request. After completing this process, the already weak male Orc looked even more frail. His forehead was covered in sweat. The white ears on his head drooped backward, slightly downcast. Then he said, “My name is Leo Perez. You can call me by this name, or give me a new one.” After forming the Death Pact, Leo and I could communicate telepathically. That modest but obedient Orcish Power flowed through my body, merging with my Inner Energy. My mood suddenly improved dramatically. I smiled and said, “You don’t need a new name. Your original name is perfect. Let’s go home.” Leo froze for a moment, then ran back toward the cage that had held him. Soon, he returned carrying an iron chain as thick as a wrist, trying to hand it to me. He said, “Dog chain.” Looking at the bloodstains on the chain, I frowned and said, “Not necessary.” I suddenly thought of something and asked him, “How long have you been here?” “I’ve experienced fifteen openings of the Orcish Bazaar,” Leo said, his ears drooping even lower. Fifteen times? The Orcish Bazaar opened once every two months. That meant Leo had been here for over two and a half years. No wonder he always spoke so slowly when talking to people. As I prepared to leave with Leo, John shifted his gaze from Maria to me for the first time. A strange light flashed in his eyes, and his delicate face twisted momentarily. But by the time I looked over, he had already returned to his usual appearance. Maria mocked me, saying, “Look at you! Even if you need an Orc, you can’t be this careless. This Orc looks like he’s about to die. How about I give you one of the Orcs nobody else wants?” Hearing Maria say this, Leo’s previously listless expression immediately perked up. He bared his sharp canine teeth at Maria. Maria said disdainfully, “You’re quite protective of your master.” I didn’t get angry at Maria’s words; my expression remained calm. I said, “I only need loyalty from an Orc. After all, I’m not like certain people who can only survive by relying on Orcs—without them, they’re nothing.” My words provoked reactions from both of them. John’s face instantly turned pale, while Maria looked at me with eyes full of jealousy and resentment.

Although I’m a direct member of the Orcish Disciplinarian Clan, my talent is the Golden Crow Bloodline. This bloodline allows my Inner Energy to improve at an exceptionally fast rate. This is also an extremely rare talent, and it doesn’t involve spilling innocent blood. In any other family, I would definitely be supported by the clan members as the heir. But in the Orcish Disciplinarian Clan, the situation is different. My parents often sigh and tell me they can’t help me, and even the entire family can’t help me. I wasn’t even two years old when Maria was born, and she came with the Chaos Bloodline. Some people in the family deliberately want Maria to be the heir. Another faction believes that although Maria’s bloodline is strong, it’s too brutal and too bloody. They think I should be the heir instead. My talent for taming Orcs isn’t particularly strong, but my Orcish Power can combine with my Inner Energy. This kind of strength wouldn’t be inferior to any of the clan leaders throughout our family’s history. Those opposing Maria as heir also say: “The core ability of the Orcish Disciplinarian Clan leader is Inner Energy. We can’t let other families laugh at us!” So these two factions keep fighting, neither willing to submit to the other. The position of heir remains undecided. This is also why Maria is so desperate to find the last Orc with qualified Orcish Power. As long as she devours this Orc and fully activates her bloodline, those in the family who oppose her will naturally submit to her overwhelming power. However, whether Maria activates her bloodline or not, I’m not worried. Everyone calls the Golden Crow Bloodline the Solar Bloodline. This bloodline has always been righteous and upright, never fearing any evil. If anything evil dares to appear, I can crush it directly and throw it into the fire to burn. At night when it’s time to sleep, Leo just wraps himself in a blanket and sleeps on the floor of my room. I told him to go sleep in the room I arranged for him, but he refused. I had no choice but to go along with him. That night, I had a dream about my previous life. I dreamed that I drove a knife deep into the head of a ten-foot-tall beast, splitting its skull open. But at the same instant, the beast’s fangs also bit into the artery in my neck. In the end, both the beast and I died together in the quiet Artificial Forest. The beast’s gaping bloody mouth and the pain of being bitten felt terrifyingly real in the dream. I jolted awake, my chest still heaving. The room was dimly lit and very quiet. Combined with the black smog outside the window, this oppressive feeling weighed on my heart, making it hard to breathe. I turned over and met Leo’s bright, sparkling eyes. He was looking at me with concern. He had been watching over me the whole time. The excitement and fear in my heart calmed down considerably, and I gave him a reassuring smile. At that moment, I inexplicably thought of John. When he first came to my side, he had to sleep on the softest bed, with heavy curtains surrounding it for enough privacy. Even I couldn’t enter his room casually. Otherwise, he would get angry, turn pale with nervousness, and refuse to let me talk to him. Thinking about tomorrow’s family meeting, I quickly fell asleep again. The next morning when I woke up, Leo brought me water and breakfast, then silently went to guard the door. I asked him to come over and eat with me. When he walked over, the long white furry tail behind him wagged vigorously many times. I was afraid he might wag his tail off. Leo sat across from me, eating his meal in big bites, clearly enjoying it. He really is different from that ungrateful person John. John never cared whether I had eaten my three meals. Once, my family’s chef made him eggs, and he got so angry that he smashed everything in his room, accusing me of not caring about him or respecting him, otherwise how could I give him eggs to eat. I coaxed him for two days before he calmed down. I couldn’t help but smile as I touched Leo’s ears and asked him: “Later, I’ll take you to the meeting room with me. Do you want to go?” During this time, I found Vitality-Regaining Elixir for Leo. So he’s no longer covered in wounds like when he first arrived. His body has recovered somewhat, and his delicate face has become much smoother. However, his speech still isn’t very fluent. He said: “I want to.” When I saw John again, I noticed he didn’t look very good, his clothes wrinkled and unkempt, as if he hadn’t been taking care of himself. In my previous life, I gave him the best food and clothes, keeping his skin incredibly tender. He even had dedicated caretakers around him. The current him is vastly different from my previous life. I didn’t show anything on the surface, but I was secretly pleased inside. Someone asked Maria about John’s situation. Maria smiled disdainfully and said: “He keeps hinting that I should heal his throat. I don’t have that kind of time. I need to practice my Orc taming skills, unlike my cousin who’s so idle, making lots of Vitality-Regaining Elixir for her Orc.” If a nightingale can’t recover its voice, its spirit will deteriorate, eventually becoming depressed and losing even the motivation to preen its feathers. The surrounding people and Orcs cast strange looks at John, whispering unpleasant comments. They said he was a nightingale with an ugly voice who wasn’t even liked by his master. John’s body trembled, and his lips turned pale. He stood there, looking up at me with eyes full of stubbornness and pride. At this moment, he seemed to be waiting for me to defend him against those speaking ill of him, just like in my previous life.

  • My boyfriend abandoned me after I became paraplegic

I became paralyzed from the waist down due to a car accident. During my treatment, my attending physician Michael Green pursued me, and I agreed to be with him. We’ve been together for two Christmases now. Just as I was considering whether to have a long-term relationship with him, I overheard his conversation with friends. Michael said: “I know wealthy disabled women are the easiest to fool. Say a few sweet words and they’ll believe anything. Once she helps me get my private hospital up and running, I’ll break up with her. Who wants to be with a cripple? I’ve been disgusted by her for ages.” Looking back on these two Christmases of sweet moments, I have to admit his acting skills are pretty good. My assistant Alice Baker asked if I wanted to cancel the wedding plans. I touched my belly and said calmly: “No need.” ***** At the Mitchell mansion, I was watching a video Alice had just sent me. In the video, Michael was at a bar hanging out with friends. He never drank in front of me, but in the video he was ordering and opening bottles with practiced ease, clearly not his first time. Michael threw his jacket onto the booth sofa, loosened his tie, and propped his feet up on the table in front of him. His lazy, indulgent demeanor was completely different from the gentle, polite image he maintained in front of me. Someone laughed and said: “Dr. Green, you finally agreed to come out and party. Are you really planning to take care of that cripple for the rest of your life?” Michael raised his glass and took a sip: “For life? These two Christmases have already made me sick. If it weren’t for the money, I wouldn’t bother taking care of her. My private hospital opens in three days, and I’ll consider that thirty million in startup funds compensation for my emotional distress.” Another friend filled his glass and joked: “What distress? Athena lets you live in a mansion, drive luxury cars, transfers money to you monthly, and even funded your hospital. All you have to do is check on her during her regular appointments.” Athena Mitchell is my name. Michael looked disgusted, as if remembering something particularly revolting: “Do you know that high-level paraplegic patients are prone to bedsores? When the nurses helped her turn over, she just lay there like a dead fish. When I kissed her, I had to pretend I didn’t see the catheter bag. Even now, every time I kiss her, I can smell that urine odor.” His friend patted his shoulder and said, whether sincerely or not: “Dr. Green, you’ve really suffered through this. But Athena is still beautiful, and at 28 she’s already an investment queen. Aren’t you worried about losing her at all?” Michael leaned back in his chair confidently: “Rich disabled women like her are the most desperate for love, and she’s completely devoted to me. She even suggested having a baby together recently. Once the hospital opens, I’ll break up with her. Whoever wants to take care of her can have her.” After the video finished, Alice asked respectfully: “Miss Mitchell, should we cancel the wedding plans?” I played with my diamond ring and said calmly: “No need. Just find someone else. There are plenty of men in this world.” Alice immediately handed me a tablet filled with profiles of excellent unmarried men. I scrolled through for a while, then pointed to one photo: “Let’s go with him. I’ll try him out for a few days first.” After all, I’m just paying for someone to keep me from being bored. If someone doesn’t know their place, I’ll simply replace them. After receiving her assignment, Alice went to handle it immediately. Alone in my room, I reflected on the video and conversation, thinking Michael wasn’t professional enough in his work. When he first pursued me, Michael had held my legs and said: “Let me be your legs forever, to carry you wherever you want to go.” When I was exhausted and sweating during rehabilitation training, he would quietly stay with me and encourage me, saying I could depend on him. Good thing I never believed those lies. I was lucky to survive the hospital at all, so I know without looking in a mirror that I’m not attractive now. I was irritable back then, and Michael approached me voluntarily. He could help treat and care for me, and keep me company, so I accepted him. Mainly because Michael was good-looking. After I was discharged, Michael moved into my mansion to live with me, voluntarily taking on the job of caring for me – washing clothes, cooking, driving, booking flights, packing luggage. Basically anything related to taking care of me, he did. Actually, there were already people specifically hired for these tasks. Since he wanted to do them, I let him. I had Alice calculate his salary based on market rates for housekeeping, cooking, driving, and personal assistance, and paid him accordingly. It wasn’t much money – only a hundred thousand dollars a month. This also included fees for “male companionship services.” But he wasn’t very good in that department, so I deducted part of his pay. Michael thought we were in a romantic relationship. But in reality, we were just employer and employee.

If Michael were professional enough to maintain his act well—whether in front of other people or in front of me—he could keep this high-paying job for life. The man in that photo earlier really caught my interest. And Alice told me this person had submitted his resume three times, repeatedly stating he’d accept half the salary. His monthly salary is only $50,000, which is quite a bargain. When Michael returned, I couldn’t smell any alcohol on him, and he had changed his clothes. As soon as he walked in, he hugged and kissed me, his voice full of apology: “I’m sorry, I had surgery tonight and kept you waiting.” I have to admit, Michael’s acting skills aren’t bad. Looking at his affectionate eyes and sincere tone, if I hadn’t seen that video, I really would have continued our long-term arrangement. Seeing the baby product descriptions displayed on my laptop, a flash of disgust crossed Michael’s eyes. But he said: “Athena, I know you want a baby. But pregnancy would be too much of a burden on your body—I don’t want to lose you.” I only replied coldly: “Oh.” Then ignored him completely. After all, he’s an employee who’s about to be fired—not worth wasting words on. Michael kissed me again and said gently: “It’s okay if we don’t have a baby. Having you as my ‘baby’ is enough for me. I’ll go run you a bath and carry you in for a soak in a bit.” With that, Michael went upstairs. I texted Alice: [Schedule my prenatal appointment for tomorrow.] My period is already late, so I might be pregnant, but it’s better to get checked at the hospital. Thinking that tomorrow I might see the test results for my baby made me feel great. So when facing Michael, I even had a few more smiles. As usual, after Michael applied body lotion, he massaged my legs. Since he used to be my attending physician, his massage technique is quite professional. Over these past two years, my leg muscles haven’t atrophied too severely, and my skin has been kept smooth and supple. If you ignore the fact that he’s constantly checking his phone, he’s a decent caregiver. After Michael carried me to bed, he kissed my forehead: “You sleep first. I need to handle some paperwork and I’ll be back soon.” At the desk in his study, Michael was on the phone: “Sarah, don’t worry, I won’t let Athena get pregnant with my child. Only you can bear my children. She’s just a disabled person—how can she compare to you? You’re the only one I love.” Sarah Phillips is his stepsister. By the time Michael returned to the bedroom, I was already asleep. Early the next morning, Alice came to take me to the hospital for my prenatal checkup. When we left, Michael was still sleeping. After he woke up, he discovered the marriage registration appointment form I had forgotten to put away. As a hospital investor, I used the hospital’s special access for my prenatal checkup. Aside from the director Gabriel Morris and the doctor performing my checkup, no one knew I was pregnant. Looking at the pea-sized little baby on the test report, the more I looked, the more I loved it. Alice said: “Ms. Mitchell, the person you want to interview has arrived. He’s downstairs.” I was a bit surprised: “So soon?” Alice replied: “He also works at this hospital—just transferred here.” When I looked at this person’s resume on my tablet yesterday, I only knew he was a doctor. I didn’t expect to meet him at this hospital. I carefully put away the prenatal report and said to Alice: “Then let’s go down and meet him.” Alice pushed my wheelchair into the elevator. As soon as the elevator doors opened, I saw a tall, upright figure. He was wearing scrubs, and upon seeing me, he broke into a brilliant smile and proactively greeted me: “Ms. Mitchell, hello. I’m Charles Morris, your new Life Assistant.” Alice pushed me into the private room, gesturing for Charles to follow. After closing the door, I asked Charles: “Since you’re already a doctor, why do you want to be my Life Assistant?” Charles was very direct: “Ms. Mitchell is both wealthy and beautiful—who wouldn’t want to skip twenty years of struggle? Whatever Michael can do, I can do, and I’ll do it better.” I was very satisfied with Charles. Compared to Michael using deep affection to mask his desire for money, I much prefer this straightforward transactional relationship. Charles introduced his background in great detail, not even leaving out which kindergarten he attended. I handed him a contract: “I’ll try you out for a month first. If you qualify, we can work together long-term.” Charles didn’t even read the contract contents—he cheerfully signed his name right at the signature line. After I put away the contract, I asked him: “Aren’t you afraid I’m deceiving you?” Charles laughed heartily: “Ms. Mitchell, you’re the famous Investment Queen. I trust your character. Besides, I’m just an ordinary doctor—there’s nothing worth deceiving me about.” I smiled and had him take Alice’s place, pushing my wheelchair out. While I was interviewing Charles, Michael called me several times, which I hung up on directly. Just as we stepped outside, I ran into Michael.

Michael had already changed into his doctor’s white coat. He glanced at Charles, who was pushing the wheelchair, without much concern, then frowned at me and said, “Athena, what are you doing at the hospital? Why didn’t you answer my calls?” I replied coolly, “I was busy.” Michael seemed to think of something and sighed, “Athena, you’re too clingy, and it puts me in a difficult position. I need some personal space too.” Just as I was about to speak, Charles cut in, “Then you can move out of Ms. Mitchell’s house. That way you’ll have complete freedom.” Only then did Michael look at Charles and ask, “Who are you? What gives you the right to speak here?” Charles didn’t back down, “I’m your competition, and I’m here to replace you.” Michael’s expression instantly darkened, “Athena, I know you’re angry because I don’t support your pregnancy, but there’s no need to hire some male nurse just to spite me.” Charles was about to say something, but I raised my hand to stop him. Since the new guy had arrived, there was no need to keep the old one around. I said calmly to Michael, “I’ve already had someone pack up your things. You need to move out today.” Michael’s face turned ugly, his voice filled with anger, “Athena, don’t talk to me like that. I’ve already seen your marriage application. Given how much you love me, I can marry you, but don’t expect to have children.” That’s when I remembered I’d forgotten to put away the marriage registration form. I gently touched my belly and said cheerfully, “I already have a child. You can go now.” Michael stared at me in disbelief and shouted, “Impossible! How could you be pregnant?” Then his expression changed again, as if he’d figured me out, “Athena, I never thought you were that kind of woman. You actually tampered with the condoms, didn’t you? You just want to use a baby to force me into marriage. Let me tell you the truth – what I feel for you is more like a doctor’s sympathy for a patient. Given that you invested money to help me open this clinic, I won’t hold it against you. I don’t like children, so you have to get rid of this baby.” I had originally just wanted to end our relationship peacefully. After all, we used to be employer and employee – there was no need to make things ugly. But Michael had gone too far and crossed my line. I said with a stern expression, “Who are you? What right do you have to interfere with my child?” Michael replied self-righteously, “I’m your boyfriend, the father of your child. Of course I have the right!” I laughed coldly, “You were never my boyfriend. Stop flattering yourself.” By now, quite a crowd had gathered around us. Michael was furious at my words, his face turning red. As the youngest and most capable doctor in the hospital, he couldn’t stand people gossiping about him. Michael pointed at me and cursed, “Who do you think you are? You’re nothing but a cripple. If you hadn’t paid me, you never would have gotten a taste of a man. A child? That place of yours has probably grown cobwebs by now! Women who chase after men are the most pathetic!” Michael was about to continue his tirade when Charles punched him in the face. He followed up with several more punches, beating Michael until he screamed. I quickly intervened, “Don’t kill him.” Charles said, “I’m a professional. I know exactly where to hit for maximum pain without killing anyone.” That’s when I remembered Charles was also a doctor. I breathed a sigh of relief, “Good.” After Michael caught his breath a bit, he looked at Charles and me with both fear and rage, gritting his teeth as he said, “Athena, you’re actually cheating on me. This man is your lover, isn’t he? You slut!” I had Alice hold back Charles, who wanted to keep beating Michael, then said emotionlessly, “We only had an employer-employee relationship. You were a ‘male service provider’ and nanny I hired, and I was the one paying you. Cheating? You didn’t actually think we were dating, did you?” Alice stood beside me and added professionally, “Ms. Mitchell is an investor who never makes losing deals. The money she transferred to you each month was simply payment for your services.” Michael’s face looked terrible – he felt thoroughly humiliated. As if suddenly remembering something, he regained his confidence, “You’re already pregnant with my child. As long as you beg me and give me another 50 million dollars as an apology fee, I might take pity on you and marry you.”

  • After a flash marriage, I encountered my runaway fiancé

I was squatting by the roadside eating barbecue when I ran into Luke Evans, Jacob Thomas’s friend. Luke looked me up and down several times, then said with a contemptuous tone: “Olivia Murphy, is this the kind of life you left Jacob for? Let me give you some friendly advice—stop fooling around. Jacob knows you’re back in the country and specifically sent me to notify you. In seven days at the Prime Hotel, he’s going to throw you a make-up engagement party. He wants you to stop being stubborn.” Five years ago, Jacob abandoned me at our engagement party because of a phone call from his childhood sweetheart Ava Harris, leaving me to face all the guests alone. He had said: “Ava is sick, I need to take her to the hospital right now. You handle things here first, then wait for me to come back.” Watching Jacob leave without hesitation, I held back my tears and turned the engagement party into a farewell party on the spot. After that, I accepted my company’s overseas assignment and left the United States. I never expected to run into an acquaintance right after returning to America, and he actually thought I still had feelings for Jacob. So I turned around and picked up my son Levi Thomas, who had been squatting behind me eating barbecue skewers. Then I said calmly: “Levi, someone wants to be your stepfather. What do you think?” ***** Luke’s eyes widened in surprise: “This is your son?” Then he sneered: “Olivia, is this your new trick? Just grabbing some random kid and claiming he’s your son.” Looking at Luke, I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. I said disdainfully: “Luke, did you leave your brain at home or are you blind? Can’t you see how much this child looks like me? If he’s not my son, is he yours? What? You guys still expect me to be pining for Jacob? After the disgusting thing he did five years ago, how could I possibly still be thinking about him?” Mentioning what happened five years ago, Luke was obviously feeling guilty. He defended: “That was different, Ava was sick at the time, Jacob was just taking her to the hospital.” Seeing Luke’s discomfort, I said coldly: “She couldn’t call 911? Or did everyone else in the world die, leaving only Jacob to take her to the hospital? Luke, we both know what Ava was thinking. I’m not a tool for you guys to play your ambiguous games with.” Seeing that I was about to leave, Luke hurriedly blocked my way: “Olivia, you used to love Jacob so much, you put up with so many things for him. What’s one more time?” I threw away the barbecue in my hand and scooped up Levi: “You said it yourself—that was ‘used to.’ I’m someone who hates dwelling on the past.” With that, I ignored Luke completely and left with Levi in my arms. It wasn’t until we got in the car that Levi tugged at my hand and asked curiously: “Mom, is the Jacob you were talking about the person Dad hates most?” I laughed contemptuously and pinched his cheek: “He doesn’t deserve to be the person your dad hates most. Levi, don’t make wild guesses. He has nothing to do with me.” If this were before, I definitely couldn’t have said “Jacob has nothing to do with me.” I was born into the Murphy family, but my father Adrian Murphy was a playboy, and my mother Hannah Murphy died early. As the least favored daughter in the family, no matter how excellent I was, my only value was to consolidate family interests through marriage. Everything changed when I accidentally saved Jacob. Jacob appeared by my side openly under the guise of “repaying a debt,” helping me intimidate everyone who wanted to use me, including Adrian. Under pressure from Jacob, the Murphy family didn’t dare make demands of me anymore. I could finally study according to my own wishes and pursue my interest in finance. Jacob was also particularly doting on me. To get me to agree to his confession, he covered the entire lawn of the University of Washington with flowers. He had said: “Olivia, be my girlfriend. In this lifetime, I’ll definitely make you the happiest woman in the world.” I was moved by him and agreed to his confession, naively thinking we would live happily ever after like in fairy tales. Until Ava returned to America, Jacob began breaking promises to me, repeatedly neglecting me and fighting with me. Later our relationship got worse and worse. Jacob took the initiative to make peace: “Olivia, let’s get engaged. I’ll prove with actions that you’re the only one I love.” I believed Jacob’s words and carefully prepared for our engagement party. But I never could have imagined that on the day of the engagement party, Jacob would publicly abandon me because of a phone call from Ava, making me the object of everyone’s ridicule. It was precisely because of this incident that I had to go abroad. I never expected that after five years, Jacob would still think I’d be waiting for him.

The car quickly arrived at the Murphy villa’s entrance. I had been away from here for five years, and everything seemed unchanged from before. As soon as Levi and I walked into the living room, the two people in front of me made me freeze instantly. It was Jacob and Ava. I asked them, “What are you doing here?” Sensing my hostile tone, Adrian immediately scolded me loudly, “You ungrateful daughter! What kind of talk is that? “Miss Harris is naturally here to accompany Mr. Jacob Thomas to discuss the engagement party arrangements. “What do you mean by bringing some child back here out of nowhere?” Ava beside him couldn’t help but sneer. She said, “What else could Olivia be doing? “Nothing more than knowing Jacob is willing to get engaged to her, so she’s got some confidence now. “She’s deliberately bringing a child here just to upset Jacob.” Hearing “engagement party” again, I couldn’t help but look at Adrian. I said angrily, “Adrian, have you lost your mind? “You used my mother’s belongings to trick me into coming back to the country just to make me get engaged to this bastard again? “Wasn’t the humiliation from five years ago enough? Do you want to go through it again?” Hearing my words, Adrian’s face instantly stiffened. Jacob stood up, looking at me with some joy in his eyes. Then, controlling his emotions, he explained, “Olivia, I know I was wrong back then. “But I’ve already explained it to you. I only left for a moment. “If you hadn’t suddenly fled to America back then, how would this engagement party have been delayed until now?” I didn’t want to listen to Jacob’s lies, so I directly took Levi’s hand. I said, “Jacob, I’m not in the mood to play these games with you. “I thought Luke had already told you about my situation. Since he didn’t, I’ll tell you myself. “I’ve been married for several years now, and my child is no longer small. “As for that engagement party, you can have it with whoever you want, just don’t involve me.” Adrian’s face turned ugly, clearly not expecting me to have secretly married and had a child. He clutched his chest in anger and cursed me loudly, “You rebellious daughter! “How could the Murphy family produce such a shameless person like you!” I sneered, looking at Adrian mockingly, “Speaking of shameless, who could compare to you? “When you were young, you relied on my mother to develop your career, and now that you’re old, you’re selling your daughter to maintain your wealthy lifestyle. “Adrian, without women, you’re nothing but trash. “If you dare use my mother’s belongings to deceive me again, don’t blame me for showing no mercy.” After saying this, I didn’t want to entangle with them anymore and pulled Levi, preparing to leave. Just as I was about to walk out of the living room, Jacob suddenly said, “Adrian didn’t lie to you. It’s just that your mother’s belongings are in my hands. “I can give you the belongings, but the condition is that you obediently get engaged to me.” I could no longer contain the anger in my heart and rushed over, slapping Jacob hard across the face. I said, “Jacob, can’t you understand human speech? “I’m already married and have a child! “Do you, like Luke, also think this child isn’t my biological son?” Jacob stared at me, his eyes full of urgency and passion that I couldn’t understand. He said, “But he has the surname Thomas. “I’ve already investigated. His name is Levi Thomas. “Olivia, you, like me, have never let go of me, right?” Hearing such ridiculous words, I was almost amused by my anger. I said coldly, “Jacob, what exactly are you thinking? “Levi has the surname Thomas because his biological father’s surname is Thomas. “This has nothing to do with you. “My husband and I love each other very much. We came back to America this time to indeed hold another wedding ceremony here. “Please don’t think I have any feelings for you.” I could see that Jacob wouldn’t return Hannah’s belongings to me, so I didn’t want to entangle with him anymore and prepared to leave. But just as I turned around, someone struck me hard on the back of my neck. In the last moment before my consciousness became blurred, I saw Levi running toward me anxiously.

When I woke up again, I found myself in a completely unfamiliar room. Seeing that I was awake, Levi immediately threw himself onto me. He said, “Mom, you’re finally awake! I was so scared just now!” Looking at Levi’s tear-stained face, I quickly pulled him into my arms to comfort him. I said, “It’s okay, I’m here. Did they do anything to you?” Levi shook his head. He frowned and said, “That bad guy asked me some questions, but I didn’t tell him anything. I just said my dad loves my mom very much, and my mom loves my dad too. I also told him to let us go quickly. Mom, I miss Dad.” Seeing Levi’s pitiful expression, I held him tighter. I said, “We can’t go back just yet. Your sister Nora’s surgery isn’t finished, and your dad still has some things to handle. Once everything is taken care of, Dad will come find us.” My daughter Nora Thomas was seriously ill, and my husband Leonardo Thomas’s company had recently been infiltrated by a mole. He must be incredibly busy. If he knew Levi and I had been kidnapped and became frantic, it would be terrible if someone else took advantage of his vulnerability. As we were talking, the door suddenly burst open. I instinctively gripped Levi’s hand tighter, but the person who entered wasn’t Jacob. Ava looked me up and down. After a long moment, she finally said, “Olivia, you’re like a ghost that just won’t go away. Since you already went abroad five Christmases ago, why did you come back now?” Looking at Ava’s resentful face, I said sarcastically, “Who would have thought? After five whole Christmases, Jacob still won’t marry you? Ava, you’re still just as useless.” Hearing my words, Ava immediately became furious. She said, “Olivia, what are you so smug about? Five Christmases ago, I was able to stop your engagement. Five Christmases later, I can do it again. Don’t even think about marrying Jacob!” Seeing Ava’s confident expression, I couldn’t help but feel impatient. I said, “Then please hurry up. I’m a married woman now. Do you really think I care about Jacob?” Ava was infuriated by my words and raised her hand to slap me. At that critical moment, Jacob suddenly appeared. He shouted at Ava, “Ava, what are you doing?” Hearing Jacob’s voice, Ava quickly pulled her hand back. Then she put on a pitiful expression and said, “Jacob, it’s all Olivia’s fault! I was trying to persuade her to properly get engaged to you, but she said her husband is a thousand times, ten thousand times better than you. She was putting you down, so I wanted to teach her a lesson.” In the past, I’d heard this kind of talk countless times. Back then, I would desperately try to defend myself. But now, I actually hoped Ava would say something even more outrageous, preferably something that would anger Jacob enough to give up his ridiculous idea of getting engaged to me. I looked at Jacob and said without hesitation, “She’s right. Also, you’d better keep her away from me, or I’ll hurt her.” Unexpectedly, although Jacob was clearly angry, he didn’t explode. He said to Ava, “Ava, this is between Olivia and me. Since Olivia doesn’t like you, don’t come here anymore.” Ava wanted to argue back, but under Jacob’s gaze, she left in suppressed anger. After Ava left, Jacob took a deep breath. He said, “Olivia, I know you said those things on purpose just now. You’re not that kind of person.” I repeated the phrase “that kind of person.” Then I tilted my head and asked him, “Jacob, aren’t these all the things you used to say about me? You said I was vicious, had a dirty mind, was petty, and that I didn’t understand the pure friendship between you two. Isn’t Ava kind, generous, and considerate? How did you forget all that now? I don’t understand—if she’s so wonderful, why don’t you marry her? Why do you insist on pestering me, a married woman? If you still don’t believe Levi is my biological child, you can get a paternity test done.” Before I could finish speaking, Jacob suddenly rushed over and grabbed me by the throat.

  • I just love puppies.

Before my neighbor, Dylan Price, left for college, he stopped me in my tracks. His head was bowed, ears flushed crimson, as he mumbled, “Can I be your boyfriend?” I simply turned away, tossing over my shoulder, “I like *mature* men.” Five years later, he pinned me against a wall, his hand cupping my chin, forcing me to look away— My boyfriend was intimately wrapping his arm around another woman’s waist, leisurely browsing in a luxury store. “Is *that* the mature man you like, Avery?” Dylan whispered, his hot breath making my scalp prickle. I stared at the cheating couple in the luxury store. After a moment’s thought, I pulled out my phone and snapped a few damning photos. Dylan was already standing straight, hands tucked into his pockets, looking down at me with an almost smug air. “Avery, your taste is *shockingly* bad.” I rolled my eyes at him, utterly annoyed, and made to leave. But he followed me. “You’re just going to let it go? Avery, that’s not like you.” “Just a moment ago it was ‘sis, sis,’ and now it’s just ‘Avery Hayes’?” I shot back, my voice dripping with sarcasm. “Sis? You *like* hearing me call you that, don’t you? Hmm? My sweet sis?” Dylan suddenly closed the distance, blocking my path. He leaned in, meeting my gaze, a faint, almost predatory smile playing on his lips, his eyes holding a complex mix of emotions I couldn’t quite decipher. He’d grown taller, leaner. He was no longer the shy, introverted kid from five years ago. I stiffened, choosing to ignore his provocative question. “Is this why you asked me out today?” “Yeah.” “How did you know?” “Your boyfriend brought that woman to *our* hospital for a check-up, and I happened to be responsible for them. I overheard them talking about coming here to shop today.” “Oh.” I felt apathetic. I already knew Blake was cheating. More than once. Dylan seemed to grow angry. “Avery, he’s cheating on you! He’s not good to you!” “Yeah, yeah, I heard you.” I replied, feigning indifference. Dylan seemed to be thoroughly infuriated by my lack of concern, his chest heaving. He grabbed my arm, preventing me from leaving, his eyes blazing with anger as he glared at me. Thankfully, an urgent call from the hospital pulled him away. Otherwise, who knows how long we would have been stuck there. Before he left, Dylan gritted his teeth and asked, “You’d rather stick with *him* than ever give me a chance, wouldn’t you?” I stayed silent, offering no reply even as he walked away. Only when his back was to me did I finally let out a shaky breath. The truth was, I wasn’t nearly as composed as I tried to appear. Back home, a message from an unknown number made my stomach churn: “Avery, had to work late again today. Boohoo, missing you already!” It was Blake. A month ago, the first time I caught him cheating, I broke up with him. He refused. Since then, he’d been incessantly bothering me. Annoyed beyond belief, I’d blocked him on every platform. But he kept finding new numbers to harass me with. I went through my familiar routine: delete, then block, before tossing my phone aside. I felt restless today, a strange numbness in my chest, like everything was just… off. I knew the source of my turmoil wasn’t Blake. It was… Dylan. This reunion was completely unexpected. After I rejected him that year, Dylan and I hadn’t exchanged a single word. Even when I went home for the holidays, and our families, living across the hall from each other, inevitably crossed paths, he’d act as if I were invisible. Why did he suddenly bring me here to catch Blake in the act?

The next few days, I didn’t see Dylan again. Maybe he was too busy. Or maybe, he simply didn’t want to see me, just like for the past five years. I couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed, but there was nothing I could do. After all, I was the one who rejected him. Someone as proud as him wouldn’t want to be friends with the person who turned him down. I slipped back into my old routine, going to work, and blocking the occasional random number that popped up. After work one day, my mom called, her voice tinged with worry. “Avery, you and Blake… you guys broke up, right?” “Yeah, we did. Mom, who told you?” “Ugh, Blake’s aunt told me. Weren’t you two doing so well? His family wants me to talk to you, see if you’ll change your mind.” My mom hesitated. “Mom, just stay out of it. We broke up, and that’s final. We only met on a blind date anyway, there wasn’t much real feeling between us.” As I was speaking, I looked up and saw a familiar figure standing before me. Dylan, hands in his pockets, looked tired, like he’d just finished a shift, but his eyes sparkled with an undeniable amusement. He mouthed, “Dinner? My treat.” I casually told my mom I’d explain everything when I came home next, then hung up. Dylan didn’t wait for me to speak, pulling my hand and leading me into a taxi. After giving the driver an address, he just muttered, “Wake me when we’re there,” before leaning his head on my shoulder and closing his eyes to rest. I froze at the sudden physical contact, unsure how to react. I could only turn my head to stare out the window, praying he couldn’t hear my heart hammering like a drum. After a long moment, he chuckled. “Nervous, sis?” That single ‘sis’ snapped me back to the memory of him pinning me against the wall, his breath hot against my ear, those husky whispers. I cleared my throat, forcing out, “We’re here. Let’s get out.” Agitated and flustered, I just charged forward blindly, not caring if he was following me. Dylan suddenly grabbed my elbow, pulling me into his embrace. He still smelled the same – a faint, clean scent, like fresh linen with a hint of something woodsy. It hadn’t changed in all these years. It wasn’t until Dylan murmured, “Excuse me,” to someone beside us that I realized I’d almost bumped into them. He released me just as quickly, looking down to tell me to watch my step, then walked ahead. But before he did, his hand brushed lightly against the back of mine. I cursed silently and followed him. What exactly had this kid been learning all these years? He was so… alluring. “Your mom called me. She wanted me to convince you to get back together,” Dylan said, not even looking up as he served me food. His tone was not as light as before. “But your stance seemed pretty firm, and frankly, I wasn’t going to try anyway,” he continued, changing the subject. “So today, it’s just two long-lost neighbors having dinner.” Long-lost neighbors? Fine. I pushed down the strange feeling in my chest and finished dinner with Dylan, feigning casualness. After dinner, Dylan walked me back to my apartment. But as we arrived, we bumped into Blake Miller, drunkenly stumbling around outside my building. My gut told me something was wrong; Blake must have lost money gambling again. Yes, he gambled. I only found out after we broke up. His incessant bothering wasn’t because he liked me so much, but because my income was decent, and he wasn’t willing to give up a clear money tree.

  • My husband says I’m a parasite, my son thinks I’m ashamed, and I send them to prison after rebirth.

I collapsed in the grocery store on the seventh day of my liquid diet. My husband, Robert, had complained about my thick waist, and my son, Dylan, had been embarrassed by me at parent-teacher conferences. Before I was reborn, Dylan pushed me into a wall, and a sharp nail pierced my head. In my dying moments, I saw a family portrait of them and the other woman. “Mom, my new mom is a hundred times prettier than you,” Dylan giggled, his blood-stained hands still innocent. Now, staring at my swollen face in the mirror, I spat out the last bit of sour water from my stomach. “Perfect. They’re all still breathing.” This time, I’ll make their lives a living hell. My last few minutes before rebirth stretched into an agonizing eternity. I lay on the floor as my son, Dylan Vance, stomped on my face. Eighteen years old, yet his face was twisted into a demonic mask. I gritted my teeth, too weak to scream. Dylan grabbed my hair, yanked me up, then let me fall back down like a rag doll. “You old hag, still trying to fight back?!” “Look at you, you fat cow!” “So what if Dad cheated? It’s all *your* fault!” “You’re nothing but a parasite, a useless waste of space who only knows how to do housework!” “That’s what you get for always lecturing me! For running your mouth!” “How dare you even show up and demand answers!” “I’ve wanted a new mom for ages!” He yanked me again, smashing my head against the wall twice more. My vision blurred, smeared with blood, leaving only vague shapes and flashing lights. Not far from me, meticulously framed, was a family portrait. In the picture, Robert Vance—my husband—smiled, his arm around a young woman’s waist. My son, Dylan Vance, stood between them, cutting a wedding cake. And I, a gaping hole in my forehead from a wall nail, lay on the floor like a discarded mop. I struggled to see the woman’s face in the photo, but my breath hitched, and I died before I could. * * * Under a blinding white light, my eyes snapped open. A short, sharp gasp escaped my throat, like a drowning person breaking the surface. My vision was a kaleidoscope of swirling, overlapping light spots. I was lying on the floor, sweat soaking my cheap cotton T-shirt. My gaze slowly focused, sweeping over scattered oranges, an overturned shopping basket. A grocery store… the produce section… May 7th, 2022. Six months before my death. I slowly sat up, memory fragments clicking into place. Robert had called me a pig, Dylan said I disgusted him. In a fit of despair, I’d driven myself to the brink. A liquid diet… seven days with nothing in my stomach, until my blood sugar crashed, and I passed out in the grocery store. “Help! Someone’s fallen here!” a woman’s voice cried out. Chaotic footsteps rapidly approached as staff rushed to help me up. “Maybe… we should call your family to pick you up?” A staff member pulled out their phone. Family? Ha. Robert was probably being interviewed for some “Successful Entrepreneur” magazine, and Dylan was skipping class to play video games. Neither would care. Call them? So they could see my foolish, starved self, all for a sliver of their approval? I shook my head, rising and shuffling over to a customer rest bench. As I plopped down, the bench groaned under my weight. I felt a pang of embarrassment. In my previous life, I really had been too heavy. Looking at my reflection in the glass—an unkempt “old hag” drained of all her feminine charm by life. No wonder people found me disgusting. A woman who doesn’t love herself never gets a happy ending.

My name is Alice Davies. A pathetic woman who sacrificed her family’s entire life savings for love. To help Robert start his business, I pushed my father to embezzle funds and took out high-interest loans while heavily pregnant. In return, Robert called me a worn-out housewife who ate for free, a parasite. And the son I risked my health to have late in life didn’t just cover up his father’s affair—he ended up killing me. I suppressed all my emotions, a storm of hatred exploding in my eyes. Robert Vance, Dylan Vance, and that mistress… I’m sending you all to hell. I pulled out my old phone, its screen cracked in one corner. For the first time, I indulged in a ride-sharing app. How ironic. He was so successful, spent lavishly on his mistress, yet I only ever dared to take the bus. If my monthly household expenses went over by even a few hundred dollars, he’d rip into me, calling me a spendthrift. Robert was particularly cunning. He always played the good guy when I disciplined Dylan, offering small treats and favors to win his son’s adoration. Over time, I became the villain in this house, and he was the “best dad in the world.” I pushed open the front door. The expensive crystal chandelier gleamed too brightly, illuminating a huge family portrait. Before long, my face in that picture would be replaced by the mistress’s. That shameless slut, she’s completely stolen my life. I *have* to find out who she is and strip her of everything! Loud game sound effects and excited shouts echoed from the living room. Dylan was skipping school to play games again. Before, I would’ve rushed over immediately, cut the power, and forced him to study. But now, I couldn’t care less about saving his rotten life. “Mom! Where the hell have you been?! I’m starving! Where’s dinner?!” Dylan didn’t even look up, his eyes glued to the giant curved screen, fingers clacking on the keyboard. In my previous life, hearing that, I would’ve instantly rushed into the kitchen, my heart aching. Now, I almost wished he’d just starve to death. “Coming,” I replied dismissively. Dylan grumbled impatiently, “Hurry up! Stop dragging your feet!” I silently walked into the kitchen, opened the fridge, took out some moldy potatoes and cabbage, and chopped them up without washing before tossing them into a pan. It wouldn’t kill him, so a quick sloppy job would do. In my previous life, I had to pinch pennies. They ate fresh food, and I got all the leftovers. But even when I cooked a variety of dishes, Dylan would just grumble, “It’s alright, I guess.” This time, I wasn’t going to be their personal maid. “Damn! That was awesome! I totally carried that game!” Dylan exclaimed, pounding the table. “You’re the man, bro!” his worthless friends cheered through his headset. “Is dinner ready yet?! Are you trying to starve me to death?!” Dylan yelled impatiently. I grabbed a few slices of whole wheat bread and brought out the undercooked stir-fry. “Here, eat.” I slammed the plate down on the table with a clang. Dylan frowned, “What the hell is this? Pig slop?!” “Your dad hasn’t given me the household allowance recently. Just make do,” I said flatly, subtly shifting the blame to Robert. Dylan threw down his fork. “Dad’s the CEO of a company, he wouldn’t be short on cash! You’re just lazy and blew all the money!” “Dylan, your dad’s a CEO; he has a lot of business dinners and needs to keep both male and female clients happy. It’s normal for expenses to be high,” I said, feigning helplessness. “Mom knows you’re feeling wronged, but we shouldn’t upset your dad. What if he finds another woman and leaves us? We’d be in serious trouble, just the two of us.” I watched his reaction as I spoke. Dylan’s eyes flickered. He already knew his dad was seeing someone else. He was just like his father—petty and selfish. I’d just planted a seed of doubt in his mind; it would bloom eventually. “That stupid support in the bottom lane, does he even know how to play?! Where the hell are the wards?! Up his ass?!” He took his anger out on his gaming teammates. I looked at this son, whom I’d risked half my life to have. Young, yet oozing a disgusting, greasy vulgarity, spewing profanity, and twisted to the core. I’d sacrificed everything for him in my previous life, only to create a failure. What a waste of life! Perhaps he was starving, but Dylan still wolfed down all the food. “Mom,” he wiped his mouth, propping his feet on the table, “I need to talk to you about something.” Here we go. I wondered how much money he wanted this time.

  • Crazy guy, lovable guy.

Liam, my childhood friend, had intense rage issues. He was prone to violent outbursts. To stop me from being with that scumbag, Derek, he’d tie me up again and again. Later, Derek and my so-called best friend, Valerie, conspired to set me on fire and kill me. Liam avenged me by taking matters into his own hands and getting rid of those two scumbags. In the end, he even took his own life out of love for me. When I opened my eyes again, I was back in college, the very day Valerie framed me for assault. Liam had me tied up, trapped. “Chloe, don’t even *think* about leaving.” “If you dare to leave, I’ll break your legs!” “Chloe, my entire life is only for you.” My soul floated beside Liam. I watched him write those words in his notebook, then swallow poison. I frantically screamed for him to wake up, desperate to grab him. But I forgot, I was dead too. He couldn’t hear me, and I couldn’t touch him. When I woke up again, I had been reborn into my senior year of college. And it was today that I was supposed to be burned alive. Right now, someone was dragging me into the school’s equipment room. They threw me inside and locked the door. Then, they casually grabbed a rope from a shelf. The young man in front of me was incredibly handsome, his deep-set, phoenix-like eyes glaring fiercely at me. “Chloe, don’t even *think* about leaving.” “If you dare to leave, I’ll break your legs!” His tone was vicious, his gaze ruthless. He was indeed that madman, Liam. In my previous life, he tied me up like this too. Back then, I was blindly infatuated with Derek, completely under his spell, loving him with every fiber of my being. I was utterly blind to everything Liam did for me. Today, Derek had asked me out, and I was thrilled. But Liam forcefully tied me up, refusing to let me go. He said, “Don’t go, someone will frame you.” But how could I believe him? Back then, I thought he was just a lunatic who liked to kidnap me. Who would have thought this lunatic, who kidnapped me again and again, did it only because he loved me and wanted to protect me? Later, I managed to injure him when he wasn’t paying attention and escaped. But little did I know, a group of thugs was waiting for me, and they assaulted me. And it was all a plot by Derek and my best friend, Valerie. They wanted my money, so they hired people to assault me, filmed it, and blackmailed me for cash. I had no choice but to give it to them. I thought they’d let me go, but instead, they burned me to death. Snapping back to reality, I was already tied to a chair by Liam. As he knotted the rope, I could tell he was using immense force. I knew he was afraid I’d escape, afraid I’d go to confess my feelings to Derek. “Liam, I won’t leave.” He looked like he’d heard something unbelievable, staring at me for a few seconds. “Did you take some kind of medication before you left today?” I didn’t understand his words and looked at him confused, asking him what he meant. His tone was flat, his face devoid of any expression. “I thought maybe you took something today, that’s why your head’s so clear.” “Usually, you’d be fighting to leave, cursing me as a freak.” I froze. The old me truly was foolish, not knowing he was trying to save me. I even thought he was trying to ruin my happiness, which made me hate him. “Don’t worry, this time I absolutely won’t leave.” “I won’t leave you.” This time, I didn’t want to push away the most precious person in my life again. When he heard me say that, his expression was utterly stunned, like he’d seen a pig fly. Clearly, he didn’t believe me. Without a word, he bit me on the neck. He bit down hard, as if releasing something. I knew he hated my interactions with Derek, that’s why he was so angry. So even though it hurt terribly, I didn’t resist him. I just endured it. Honestly, if he hadn’t tied me up today, I would have hugged him. Because in my previous life, he suffered far too much for me.

Liam took me to his place. He drove, and he never untied me the whole way, afraid I’d run off. His house was very familiar to me. In my previous life, after I was burned to death, I had no parents, no family, no one to claim my body. It was Liam, that fool, who stole my body and brought it to his home, holding me every night, kissing me over and over. He said, “Chloe, I’ll never find you repulsive.” “In my eyes, you’re the most beautiful.” It wasn’t until the police came that he finally agreed to bury me. I’ll never forget how red his eyes were on the day of my funeral, how many tears he shed for me. After that, my soul floated with him for many years. I witnessed firsthand this boy who loved me so deeply, committing murder to avenge me. He personally took care of those two scumbags. Just then, the takeout arrived—it was Liam’s order. He opened the porridge and fed me, spoonful by spoonful. I ate every mouthful obediently. The room was eerily quiet. On the way here, he hadn’t said a word either. I kept feeling like he had something on his mind. “Liam, can you please untie me?” His body stiffened, but he ignored me and continued feeding me porridge. I forgot that fool responds better to kindness than demands. So, I softened my voice. “My hands are getting sore from the ropes…” Sure enough, he put down the porridge, his eyes filled with urgency, and he untied me. “Are your hands hurting badly?” He took my wrist and gently blew on it. But then he saw my smirk, and he realized I was tricking him. “Chloe, you lied to me?” “I knew it, I shouldn’t trust you.” With that, he grabbed my hand, trying to tie me up again. But this time, I broke free from his grip. Because this time, he wasn’t really trying to tie me. Otherwise, with my strength, I wouldn’t have been able to escape. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed his cheek. I finally kissed the real him. His skin was so soft and wonderful. Liam’s body froze. He looked at me in disbelief, his face actually blushing a little, his voice a bit hoarse. “Chloe, do you know what you’re doing?” I couldn’t help but smile, gently caressing his handsome face. I’d wished countless times that I could touch him, hug him. Today, it finally came true. “Of course, I know. I’m kissing you.” “Liam, I know you tied me up today to save me.” He was always like this, never explaining anything, just helping me in his own way. But in my previous life, I was utterly bewitched by that scumbag, completely unaware of everything Liam did for me. Suddenly, he lunged, pressing me down, his breathing ragged and hot. “I wasn’t saving you, damn it!” “I’m kidnapping you, I’m going to mess with you, understand?” “Are you scared I’ll *take* you?” My wide eyes stared straight at him, never looking away for a second. “I’m not scared.” Liam had a sharp tongue but a heart of gold. In truth, he was kinder than anyone. In my previous life, my soul had seen him rescuing small animals. He knew there were thugs in the alley, and he’d fiercely warn high schoolers not to take that path. But the world didn’t understand him, they thought he was a lunatic. This life, it’s my turn to be the only one who truly understands him.

“Chloe, you seem like a different person, not like you used to be.” “But I can also feel that you’re still you.” With that, he kissed my lips, but it was a tentative kiss. He only lightly brushed his lips against mine, not moving on to anything further. I knew he had reservations. He was afraid I’d violently push him away and curse him as a predator. But that was the old me; the current me loves him deeply. I bit his lip, taking the initiative. In an instant, his breathing hitched. Even through our clothes, I could feel his scorching body heat. His large hand grabbed the back of my neck, taking control. A fervent kiss enveloped me, like surging ocean waves, one after another. I don’t know how much time passed before he finally released me. This time, I saw a glimmer of light in his eyes. You fool, this life I will love you fiercely, and I will punish those who harmed me. I looked at him, speaking softly. “Liam, let’s get along well from now on.” “Don’t tie me up anymore.” “I won’t run away, I won’t leave you again.” This time, he finally responded, his eyes fixed on mine. “Get along well?” When he said this, he deliberately emphasized the last syllable. I immediately understood what he meant and quickly explained. “Of course not, I mean genuinely getting along well.” “Just like when we were kids.” When we were children, Liam always protected me, holding my hand to help me cross the street because he was afraid I’d get hit by a car. But later, because I fell in love with Derek, our relationship became incredibly strained. He hated my interactions with Derek, tying me up again and again. Each time, I would curse him and tell him to get lost. Slowly, this also contributed to his rage issues. Snapping back to reality, I saw him smile. It was the first time I’d ever seen him smile. The corners of his mouth curved slightly, revealing a small, cute canine tooth. He was truly adorable. He said, “I’ll think about it.” But I knew he had agreed. He was actually very easy to coax. As long as you went along with him, he wouldn’t hurt anyone, nor would he lose control. He only lost control when I didn’t listen to him. He scooped me up and carried me to the bed, holding me tightly, resting his chin on my shoulder. I could hear his steady breathing, which brought me such peace. This was our first time sharing a bed. In my previous life, I despised Liam. He and my parents died in an accident five years ago while doing business together. Only the two of us were left living in this house. Two lonely souls, clinging to each other. From childhood, he’d always disciplined me like an older brother. Even my liking for Derek, he had to interfere with. That’s why in my previous life, I hated him so much. I asked Liam why he knew someone would frame me today. He said after our parents passed, he followed me every day, afraid something would happen to me. While following me, he saw me meet Derek in the school grove. After I left, he saw Derek make a phone call, arranging for some thugs to come the next day. That’s how he found out I’d be in danger, but he had no direct evidence, so he could only tell me not to go. But I didn’t listen, which is why he kidnapped me. I never imagined he sacrificed so much to protect me. I turned around and hugged him tightly. “From now on, I’ll listen to you always.” “Mhm.” The next morning, Liam and I went to school together. Derek, sitting in the front row, glared at me, his pen almost crushing in his hand. He probably hadn’t expected me to skip our date yesterday, completely ruining his and Valerie’s plan. Although I dodged a bullet this time, I knew Derek and Valerie would definitely find another way. I averted my gaze from him and firmly took Liam’s large hand. Feeling my hand, Liam immediately gripped mine tightly, his fingers intertwining with mine, lacing our fingers together. He held my hand so tight, as if afraid of losing me. I squeezed his hand back, giving him a response. As we sat down, Liam quietly asked me, “Chloe, you’re not using me as a pawn, trying to play hard to get with Derek, are you?” I knew he still couldn’t entirely trust me because of my sudden change. After all, in my previous life, he had tied me up time and again to stop me from being with Derek. Because of that, our relationship had been incredibly hostile. I looked at him resolutely, gripping his hand even tighter. “I would never use you.” Liam didn’t speak, turning his head to look at the blackboard. But I still caught a glimpse of the small smile secretly curving his lips. This man was really easy to please. When class ended, Derek came over. Under Liam’s fierce glare, he handed me a note. “Chloe, read this note later.” He said, then left. Liam immediately released my hand, trying to snatch the note. “Chloe, you better throw that note away for me.” “Otherwise, I will punish you!” I crumpled it up and tossed it into the trash, smiling at him. “Okay, okay, I’ll listen to you.” “I threw it away.” But when he went to the restroom, I secretly retrieved the note. Inside it read: “Chloe, can you come to XX Cinema tonight? I want to watch a movie with you.” After reading it, I tore the note into pieces. I hadn’t expected Derek to be so impatient, asking me out again so soon. This time, I would take my revenge personally. I wouldn’t let Liam worry about my affairs. That evening, I sent Liam a SnapChat message, telling him I was going to a friend’s house and would be back later. He replied quickly, not asking which friend, But asking where I was.

  • After I died, they regretted it.

The refund for the wedding venue hit Liam’s account. He tugged at his tie, clearly annoyed. Then, a text from him popped up on my phone. “Skylar, what’s with the drama? The hotel said you canceled?” I didn’t reply. Another text immediately followed. “Stop messing around. I’m sorry, okay?” But Liam, I wasn’t messing around. The dead can’t marry the living. Liam pushed the door open, his face etched with fatigue. He paused, startled, when he saw me by the dining table. “Have you eaten? I kept calling, but you didn’t pick up.” I calmly stood, taking his coat. “Sorry, Skylar. Iris just finished her IV. The doctor had to make rounds before I could leave.” He looked at me with an apologetic gaze, dark circles prominent under his bloodshot, exhausted eyes. “Is Iris doing better? I wanted to go see her.” Iris is my older sister, my blood sister. He shook his head. “Same as always.” Then he glanced at me warily. “The doctor said not to let her get agitated.” I nodded. I understood. I wouldn’t go then. As usual, he showered, then reached out, ready to pull me into his arms for sleep. I pretended to be asleep, offering no response. Liam sighed softly, not pushing it. A long while later, I opened my eyes. I walked back to the living room. Liam probably didn’t know, but Iris’s favorite designer perfume, even after his shower, couldn’t hide her scent.

I stared blankly at the two medical reports in my hand. An hour ago, at St. Jude Medical Center. “If we start aggressive treatment now, there’s still a thirty percent chance.” Dr. Evans said regretfully. “You’re still so young. We recommend you try. If possible, bring your family to discuss the treatment plan.” I couldn’t process it. “Dr. Evans.” My throat was terribly hoarse. “How long do I have left?” “My baby… will I get to see my baby born?” Dr. Evans looked at me with pity. “Your situation isn’t optimistic, but there are cases of cancer remission. If your emotional and physical well-being are good, a conservative approach might allow you to carry the baby to term before starting chemotherapy.” I nodded, my body trembling as I thanked her, preparing to leave. “We still strongly advise you to discuss this with your family and proceed with intervention as soon as possible.” The doctor reminded me one last time. My gaze lingered on the words “brain cancer.” God had played a cruel joke on me. My period was late this month, and I secretly went to the hospital, suppressing a flutter of excitement. Just as I wished, I was pregnant with Liam’s baby. But I didn’t get to share the news with him, before another medical report plunged me into hell.

I got home, and Liam still wasn’t back. He’d been so busy lately, busy with work, busy with caring for Iris at the hospital. So busy, he forgot it was my birthday today. I picked up my phone. How was I supposed to tell him? As I hesitated, my phone chimed. “Skylar, don’t wait up for dinner. Still tied up at work. I’ll be back late, go to bed early.” See? We were so in sync. Before I could even tell him, he’d already shut down any chance of us talking. I gave a bitter smile, looking at the dinner I’d prepared and the cake I’d ordered for myself. I still hadn’t told him about the medical tests. The surprise box with the pregnancy test result was hidden away. But then I thought about it, and placed it by his pillow anyway. If he came back before midnight, my birthday wouldn’t be over. “Happy Birthday, Skylar. I’ll always love you.” If he said that. “No, not just me. Us.” I’d throw myself into his arms, surprise box and all. But midnight passed, and Liam still didn’t come home. I sat on the edge of the bed, clutching the surprise box. I tried to comfort myself. Work was busy. It’s okay, it’s okay. He’d apologize later, and I’d forgive him. He loved me, I was sure of it.

“Are you an idiot? They’re hitting you, why aren’t you fighting back?” I held the antiseptic and cotton swabs I’d secretly taken from home, clumsily cleaning the boy’s wounds. That was the first time I met Liam. I was only 8 years old then. He wore a faded gray t-shirt, his head bowed. The wounds were deep, but he didn’t make a sound. The neighborhood kids said he was from the orphanage next door. Every Wednesday was an ‘outing day’ for the orphanage kids, a day off from the director to explore outside. “That dummy, he always waits for his mom here. They say he was abandoned right on this spot.” Leo, from next door, told me. Boys are born mischievous, and they’re quick to pick on the weak. Every Wednesday, the kids around the neighborhood would instinctively come to find a sense of superiority over him. “Idiot! Your parents don’t want you, and you’re still waiting.” “This is *my* turf. If you want to hang around, you’ll have to grovel for it, loser!” … He remained motionless, as if automatically blocking them out. Punches and kicks rained down on him. He just hugged his head, silently enduring. I was different. Even though I was a girl, no kid ever dared to bully me. I couldn’t help it; I had a sister with a heart condition. My job was to protect her. Now, my circle of protection included Liam. I chased away the boys around him, and every Wednesday, I waited with him. Finally, one day, he spoke to me. “Liam.” He wrote his name with a stick, utterly serious. “Thank you for protecting me, Skylar.” I looked at him in surprise. I hadn’t told him my name. “I heard them call you that. I’m a boy. From now on, I’ll protect you.”

Before I even entered the hospital room, I could hear Iris’s joyful laughter. “Liam, it’s so adorable!” I pushed the door open. Liam froze, his mouth moving as if to say something. My eyes swept past him, settling gently on Iris, who was clutching a plush toy on her bed. The plushie was adorable, a mischievous little rabbit. It looked a lot like the one Dad bought me. “Iris, I came to see you.” I placed the flowers in the glass vase by her bedside. The atmosphere in the room instantly dropped. “Skylar’s here.” Iris forced a weak smile. I nodded, taking a seat on a nearby stool. Liam stopped what he was doing and offered her a peeled apple. For a moment, the three of us in the room were silent. I looked at Liam. “The hotel called. We need to finalize the wedding venue soon.” He nodded. Iris, beside him, seemed to choke, coughing repeatedly. Liam reacted quickly, patting her back and getting her water with practiced ease. Another long silence. “Iris, Liam, you’re in for a treat today!” Mom pushed the door open, her voice light, but the moment she saw me, her smile froze. “What are you doing here? Haven’t you caused your sister enough trouble already?” She threw the lunchbox onto the table with a bang. “Mom,” I softly called out. “Don’t call me Mom. It’s getting late, and Iris has her IV soon. She’s not like you, spoiled rotten. If you have nothing important to do, you should leave now.” “Ma’am,” Liam started, trying to interject. “Liam, quick, help me open it! I’m starving,” Iris said, laughing. Liam’s words of protest remained unsaid. “Mom, I’ll go then.” I numbly stood up. Just as I reached the door, “Liam, yesterday was my birthday.” *Smack!* The lid of the lunchbox was flung straight at me. Liam rushed over with tissues, his face full of guilt. Grease from the food smeared down my hair and onto my face.

  • The rich family made a mistake and loved me later

The wedding venue. Caleb and I were at the entrance, greeting guests. But he turned and walked straight to his rumored girlfriend. Finally, I packed my bags and left. He snapped, impatient, “Jade, can’t you just grow up?” Later, I ‘grew up’ and went back to my childhood sweetheart, but he went insane. He wept until his eyes were blind with tears at my tombstone. Caleb and I used to keep to ourselves. Our paths barely crossed. But Caleb was hopelessly romantic. He saw me at an entrepreneur’s gathering. From then on, he pursued me relentlessly. Though I had money and no shortage of excellent men around me, I was still a normal person. Who wouldn’t be captivated by the fierce devotion of a rich, handsome guy? That’s how I ended up with him. Caleb was sickeningly devoted to me, bending over backward for my every whim. At that time, I had just integrated into the city’s elite circles. Because of my personality, I’d offended quite a few spoiled kids from influential families. Caleb, with his immense wealth and power, went to each of them, showering them with money, until they all came to me, apologizing. But behind my back, everyone scorned me. They whispered that I’d used my ‘talents’ to wrap Caleb around my finger, making him utterly devoted to me. “Jade, don’t mind them. I truly love you.” I nodded obediently. Accepting this love that filled me with dread. From the very beginning, I knew. Caleb’s love for me was stolen. Unlike the Blackwoods, who had a smaller family line, My father, on the other hand, had children everywhere; I knew of at least three illegitimate ones myself. And my birth mother, a woman from a less-than-respectable background, had shamelessly used any means necessary to get into my father’s bed. Even after giving birth to me, my mother remained restless and was eventually caught cheating and promptly thrown out of the house by my father. I was taken in by Mrs. Stone, becoming the nominal Miss Stone. But my life in the Stone family was worse than that of a servant. Everyone in our circles knew this. So when news of Caleb and I dating spread, it caused a huge uproar. But I never expected the first opposition to come from my own father. “Jade, know your place! Don’t try to climb above your station with just anyone!” Looking at my father’s disgusted expression, I swallowed every word I was about to say. Why should I have to suffer so much?

My momentary defiance made things go from bad to worse. And I found myself falling deeper and deeper. Countless times, I wanted to tell Caleb. The person you love isn’t me. The first time Caleb saw me, he asked me a question. His eyes were gentle, completely devoid of the rumored hostility. “Jade, you were even using a crutch when you saved me. Weren’t you scared?” A crutch? I stared at him blankly. I’d suffered countless injuries growing up, but I’d never broken a leg. It was Chloe who broke her leg. Caleb had always loved Chloe. All his intense love for Chloe had been transferred to me. Not long after we started dating, Caleb took me home to meet his family. Mr. Blackwood held his newspaper the entire time, seemingly unable to put it down. But Caleb’s stance was too firm. Enraged, Mr. Blackwood slapped Caleb across the face. “You scoundrel! How dare you bring such an unsuitable woman into this house? Are you trying to ruin the Blackwood name?” That day, Caleb and his father had a monumental fight in the Blackwood mansion. Meanwhile, Mrs. Blackwood and Caleb’s aunt sat nearby, chatting, as if I wasn’t even there. They knew exactly how to make someone feel worthless. But they didn’t hurt me. Because I always knew I wasn’t good enough for Caleb. Their reaction was only natural. The farce only ended when Mr. Blackwood smashed a teacup near my feet. Caleb carefully picked me up, made a furious declaration, and completely cut ties with his family. Before leaving, I saw Mrs. Blackwood’s gaze fixed on me. It was cold and venomous. The teacup shards had torn my pants. But they had also torn Mrs. Blackwood’s long dress. Yet, Caleb only had eyes for me, completely ignoring his mother’s disheveled state. I sighed. I had tried my best to be perfectly obedient on this visit, hoping to leave them with a good impression. It seemed I had failed completely.

Caleb left home, fending for himself. My father, unwilling to offend the Blackwood family, also kicked me out. My bank cards were frozen, and they used their connections to block all my job opportunities. From then on, we lived hand-to-mouth. Forced to rent a gloomy, suffocating basement apartment. Even so, we were thrown out countless times. The once dashing Caleb became disheveled, leaving early and returning late every day to find work. I knew he wanted to give me a better life. But I also knew that as long as we stayed in this city, we wouldn’t have peace. I started drawing comics day and night. Finally, a publisher agreed to buy them for a ridiculously low price. The first thing I did after getting paid was to treat Caleb to a proper meal. Seeing the long-unseen restaurant environment, Caleb froze for a long time, his eyes welling up. I thought, he must be at his breaking point, right? “Caleb, don’t cry. If you want to go back…” I wouldn’t blame you either. I had been greedy for your warmth for too long. But I never finished my sentence. Because I’m selfish, too. I love him, and I truly didn’t want to leave him. That night, after we returned, Caleb, to ‘punish’ my “lack of trust,” took his frustration out on me. Until I was utterly exhausted, barely conscious, he finally stopped. Caleb held me, warning me softly against my ear. “Jade, if you ever try to push me away again, this is what you’ll get.” I looked at him with tear-filled eyes. My tone was a mix of teasing and resignation. “Then I’ll try to push you away every day.” Something in Caleb’s eyes completely erupted. That night became an endless one. The next day, when I woke up, Caleb was gone. He came back especially late that day, covered in bruises. I cried as I tended to his wounds. And he, with trembling hands, fumbled inside his chest for a long time. He then pressed a wad of cash into my hand. Caleb had been in underground fights.

It was the only way he could think of to earn money without the Blackwoods’ control. But the city wasn’t that big. News of Caleb joining underground fights quickly spread. The next day, while Caleb was out, The Blackwood family showed up. Mrs. Blackwood walked in and slapped me so hard I saw stars, collapsing to the floor, unable to stand. She looked down at me. “Don’t worry, I’m not here to tell you to leave Caleb. Today, I’m simply here to teach you a lesson. My son, when has he ever suffered like that because of you?” Was any of Caleb’s suffering caused by me? Did all my sacrifices for our love mean nothing? But in the end, I just looked at Mrs. Blackwood, saying nothing. Mrs. Blackwood sneered, “What, is this pitiful act what made my foolish son lose his bearings?” Mrs. Blackwood took a handkerchief someone handed her, wiped her hands, and then forcefully threw it in my face. She seemed to enjoy seeing me in distress, actually laughing. “Just you wait, his mind will clear up soon enough. And you? You’ll be stuck in this misery forever, with no hope of escape.” But Mrs. Blackwood never got to see that scenario. Because I was pregnant. The Blackwood family arrived en masse that very night. This time, they were smarter. They didn’t mention the Blackwood family’s vast fortune. Instead, they aimed their accusations at me. “Caleb, look closely. Do you want your child to grow up in this environment?” “What’s wrong with this place? Don’t be so arrogant. I can take care of my family perfectly fine without you.” Caleb’s tone was sharp. It was the impatience of someone whose sore spot had been hit. But he had indeed earned some money recently. However, that came with daily returns, covered in injuries. We were squeezed into that tiny room, constantly bumping into each other. I always saw him wince, then force a smile for me. “Take care of your family? Ha.” Mr. Blackwood stood outside, glancing inside with disgust. I knew he was looking at me.

“Are you sure this is the life she wants?” Caleb roared at Mr. Blackwood, “Do you think everyone cares about your stinking money?” “Oh really? But some people have pulled countless strings for just a sliver of that ‘stinking money’! Caleb! How do you think I knew about her pregnancy the moment it happened?” The worst pain often comes from words left unsaid. Mr. Blackwood left, leaving us in stunned silence. Caleb just sat there, not asking me anything, which hurt me even more. I knew Mr. Blackwood’s words had finally pierced his heart. Over the next few days, Caleb continued to leave early and return late. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, but he spoke less and less. For some reason, I suddenly had a strong sense of unease. This feeling made my temper increasingly volatile, and I would lash out at Caleb at the slightest provocation. Finally, one day, Caleb couldn’t take it anymore and slammed the door, leaving. While I was crying hysterically, Chloe showed up. The Stone family’s little princess, as delicate as a doll. But the first thing she did when she saw me was pinch her nose in disgust. She asked me, incredulous, “Jade! You actually let Caleb live in a place like this with you?” I was already furious and uncontrollably pushed Chloe. I wanted to kick her out. But I didn’t expect Chloe to fall straight to the ground. Then, I saw Caleb rush over in a panic, carefully helping Chloe up. My long-held unease was finally explained. Chloe was back. The person Caleb truly loved was back. I took two steps back, my vision blurred, and I fainted. When I woke up again, I saw Caleb packing things. Seeing me open my eyes, Caleb paused. “I’m sorry, Jade. We’re going back to the Blackwood family first.” I reached out and clutched the hem of his shirt. Caleb subtly pulled away. His back was to me; I couldn’t see his expression. “Jade, they’re right. The Blackwoods can give you the best protection and ensure our child grows up healthy.”

I let out a bitter laugh. Caleb, you might as well have just told me it was because Chloe was back. So you didn’t want me anymore. But for the sake of the child in my belly, you had to keep me. I was settled in a separate building within the Blackwood estate. The servants took excellent care of me. They said it was at the instruction of the old matriarch of the family. The servants constantly praised the old lady’s kindness in front of me. But I hadn’t even met her myself. Caleb also stayed with me there every day. As my belly grew larger, Caleb’s visits became less frequent. News about him, however, grew more abundant. I heard he had begun to take over the family business. The internet was flooded with praise for him. They said his methods and vision were even more decisive and ruthless than his father’s. In a short period, he had significantly expanded the Blackwood empire. This had always been Caleb’s dream; he said he wanted to replace his father. He wanted absolute authority within the Blackwood family. Only then could we be together without obstacles. If it weren’t for the accompanying news of him and Chloe being seen together everywhere, I would have truly wanted to congratulate Caleb on getting everything he wished for. But indeed, he had achieved his desires. Only I, and the child in my womb, were the blemishes on his perfect life. Chloe visited me a few times. She didn’t lash out with harsh words. She just calmly recounted stories of her and Caleb. Her words, in and out, were hints for me to be sensible, to leave quickly after giving birth. Of course, I wasn’t someone who could be easily persuaded. I had once promised Caleb that no matter what happened between us, Unless he personally told me to leave, the word ‘breakup’ would never be uttered between us. Chloe left, seething with anger, every time. And finally, my due date arrived. But I never, ever imagined. That a cheesy plot twist from a TV show would happen to me. When the doctor looked at me with an apologetic expression, my vision blurred. “The baby is fine, but…” Only after convincing the doctor to keep quiet did I allow myself to pass out. As long as the baby was safe, what did it matter if I had an incurable disease? But if I wasn’t going to live much longer…

  • My Girlfriend’s Perfect World: The Secret Pact to Shatter Her Reality

After successfully winning Olivia’s heart, I could have left, but I chose to stay in this world because I loved her. After staying, I happily proposed to her ninety-nine times. But she always had excuses to put it off: “I’m not in a good mood, maybe next time.” “Women age quickly after marriage and children, let’s wait a bit longer.” I loved her, so I waited. Not only did I wait, but I also put all my effort into helping her develop her company. I thought Olivia probably lacked a sense of security, and things would be better if we earned more money. But when I went to her office to get her signature on a million-dollar project I had secured, I saw her sitting naked on top of her newly hired male secretary, saying: “Jack can’t go back to his original world anyway, so why bother getting married? Once I’ve had my fun, I’ll go back and sweet-talk him, and he’ll eagerly hand everything over to me again.” Late at night, on the empty double bed, I gritted my teeth as I typed out floating comments. [Olivia, Jack loves you so much.] [Olivia, he can’t leave you, don’t worry.] I knew that Olivia felt so secure because she could see these floating comments. But she didn’t know that I had already reached a new agreement with the system to leave, The moment she disappointed me for the hundredth time would be when I left. It was three in the morning when a drunk Olivia returned home. She turned on the lights and saw me still sitting on the sofa waiting for her. A flash of disgust crossed her face. But she hid it well. “Oh, honey, didn’t I tell you not to wait up if it’s too late?” She hugged me from behind, switching to a cute tone. “I know you’re worried about me, but go to bed now. It’s not good to wear yourself out.” Suppressing my anger, I placed the phone containing evidence of her cheating face-down on the sofa. With clenched fists, I heard my own voice become unusually serious. “What about you?” “I won’t bother you, honey. I’ll sleep in the study, I have to work a bit more tonight.” The red marks on her body were glaringly obvious, but she still pretended she had just come from a business dinner. It was sickening. “Olivia, how long are we going to keep this up?” I tried to control my anger, but my voice trembled, along with my shoulders and the hand holding the phone. “Jack, not this again. Why are you getting angry? Didn’t I say we’d get married once we’ve earned enough money?” She irritably let go of me and started typing furiously on her phone. “What’s the point of pressuring me like this every day?” I wanted to clear things up with her. But her gaze fell on the slightly open door of the study, I knew her male secretary was hiding behind that door. “Miss Olivia, why did you call me over when Jack is still home? What if something goes wrong?” “It’s exciting, isn’t it? And why are you still calling me Miss? Call me sister.” “Haha, waiting for you, sister.” Olivia’s phone screen had lit up as soon as she entered the door, I had installed a message sync app on her phone, I saw clearly the message her new male secretary Luke sent her. “Let’s leave it at that, Jack. I’m tired today, don’t make a fuss.” Olivia brushed me off, not even bothering to look at me, turning her back to continue replying to her male secretary. “I’m coming right away, don’t worry. Even if you come to sister’s house every day, he won’t leave me.” With a click, Olivia turned off the living room lights and went into the study. Completely ignoring me, frozen in place. I went back to the bedroom and turned on the surveillance I had installed in the study earlier that day. In the footage, Olivia was hanging on Luke, one hand grabbing his collar, the other gently caressing his abs, her eyes full of adoration. [The female lead is really playing around.] The system’s voice chimed in inappropriately. I laughed coldly through my tears. Olivia really didn’t take me seriously at all. The next morning, Olivia and Luke were waiting at the dining table. “Jack, Luke is my newly hired secretary. He drank a lot last night for the company’s business. As the boss, we should treat him to a good breakfast to show our appreciation.” Olivia’s hand rested on Luke’s shoulder, clearly intimate. Towards me, however, was a cold command, so matter-of-fact. She didn’t even think about explaining to me why another man suddenly appeared in our home early in the morning. Luke looked at me challengingly, “Well… thanks, Jack.” As Luke passed by me, he made no effort to hide anything. His neck was covered in intimate marks, clearly showing how intense things had been last night. “The ninety-ninth time.” Olivia turned back, pretending to be gentle, “Hm? Honey, what did you say?” “I said, why should I make breakfast for him? Who does he think he is?” Olivia’s face instantly darkened: “Jack, Luke is just my secretary. Don’t be so petty as a grown man.” “Olivia, ask yourself honestly, haven’t I been generous enough all these years?” I stared at her coldly. Olivia walked over to me somewhat guiltily, taking my hand: “Jack, I know you’ve sacrificed a lot for me. You’re my fiancé and the most important person in the company. If you love me, please don’t make this so difficult, okay?” “Huh, fiancé.” “Then tell me, when exactly are we getting married?” I pressed her. She had disappointed me ninety-nine times, with only one chance left. “Don’t make a scene, honey. We have a guest, it’s not appropriate to discuss this now.” “Oh, and make the breakfast light, Luke doesn’t eat spicy food.” Olivia tossed out these words lightly and prepared to go back to the study with Luke. It was always like this. She never said no, but she never said yes either. She just kept putting me off, saying sweet nothings to deceive me. Not caring at all that I’m human too, that I have feelings. I took a deep breath as I walked into the kitchen. I had anticipated this outcome, but I didn’t expect it would still hurt so much. I didn’t make breakfast for Olivia as I usually did. In fact, since the first time Olivia cheated, I had started to regret staying in this world for her after successfully winning her over. But the new conditions for leaving hadn’t been met yet, and I wanted to give her one last chance. After all, she had been so pure and lovely back then. I secretly used the floating comments to tell her how much I loved her, but she took advantage of my love and became even more reckless. Now that the conditions were almost met, she had repeatedly proven to me through her actions that a cheater cannot be changed by love. It was time to leave. I ignored the noises coming from the study and slowly ate my breakfast. An hour later, Olivia finally emerged from the study, looking satisfied and fully dressed. “What? Jack, how come you’re eating by yourself?” “Why didn’t you make any for us?” “If you want to eat, make it yourself.” I didn’t bother with her, slowly finishing my last bite. Olivia’s face turned ugly. “Jack, you’re really disappointing me more and more. You rely on me to support you, and you can’t even be bothered to make breakfast.” “I’ll give you one more chance. Make two portions of breakfast in ten minutes.” Olivia looked at me with contempt in her eyes. Silence. I still didn’t move. Perhaps afraid that I was really angry, Olivia changed her approach and came to hug me. “Alright, honey, is it because I’ve been too busy with work lately and haven’t been spending time with you? Are you upset?” “I’ll make it up to you tonight after work, okay? Do you want me to wear black lace or cat ears? I’ll do whatever you want, just give me some face today, okay?” It was always like this, always the same. Olivia only sweet-talked me when she wanted to achieve some goal. Thinking a few sweet words would make me soften. Why should I? I sneered, “Olivia, you don’t really think everything is a given, do you?” “That clothes clean themselves, food magically appears on your table, the house somehow stays clean, and all you have to do is open your mouth?” She was stunned, not expecting me to suddenly say this. “Wasn’t it you who said you liked taking care of me, so I fired all the maids? What’s this about now?” Yes, five years ago, to win Olivia’s heart, I couldn’t wait to stay by her side every day, becoming her personal butler, meticulously taking care of her every need.

  • Trapped in a Game: My Secret Deal to Break Free

After successfully winning over Ethan Clarke, I could have left, but I chose to stay in this world because I loved him. After staying, I happily proposed marriage to him ninety-nine times. But he always had excuses to put it off: “I’m not in a good mood, maybe next time.” “I want to focus on my career for a few more years, let’s talk about it later.” When I couldn’t wait any longer and went to ask him for a definite answer, I overheard him arrogantly telling his female secretary outside his office: “She can’t go back to her original world anyway, so why bother getting married? Once I’ve had my fun, I’ll go back and sweet-talk her, and she’ll eagerly ask the system to hand everything over to me again.” Late at night, lying in our empty king-sized bed, I gritted my teeth as I typed out message after message. [Ethan, Olivia loves you so much.] [Ethan, she can’t live without you, don’t worry.] I knew Ethan felt so secure because he could see these messages. But what he didn’t know was that I had already made a new deal with the system to leave. The moment he let me down for the hundredth time would be when I left.

Ethan came home reeking of alcohol at 3 AM. He turned on the light and saw me still sitting on the couch waiting for him. A flash of disgust crossed his face. But he hid it well. “Didn’t I tell you not to wait up if it gets too late?” he said, drunkenly hugging me from behind, his tone switching to an affectionate one. “Come on, I know you were worried about me, but go to bed now. It’s not good to stay up so late.” Fighting back tears, I placed the phone containing evidence of his cheating face-down on the couch. My nails dug into my palms as I heard my voice shake, sounding unlike my own. “What about you?” “I’ll sleep in the study. I promised Mr. Wang I’d have a new proposal ready when we had dinner earlier.” The scent of different women’s perfumes clung to him, but he still pretended he had just come from a business dinner. How disgusting. “Ethan, how long are we going to go on like this?” My voice shook even more, along with my shoulders and the hand holding the phone. “Not this again, Olivia. Haven’t I said I’ll marry you?” He irritably let go of me. “What’s the point of pressuring me about it every day?” I wanted to have an honest conversation with him. But his gaze fell on the slightly ajar door of the study. I knew he had secretly hidden a new woman behind that door. “Baby, why did you bring me back when Olivia is still home?” When Ethan first came in, my phone screen had lit up. I had installed message syncing software on his phone. I saw clearly the message his new secretary Sophia sent him. “That’s enough, Olivia. I’m exhausted today. I hope you can be more understanding.” Ethan brushed me off, not even bothering to look at me as he turned away to secretly reply to his little secretary. “Don’t worry, babe. Even if I bring you home every day, she’ll never leave me.” With a click, Ethan turned off the living room lights and went into the study. Completely ignoring me as I stood frozen in place, tears streaming down my face. I went back to our room and turned on the surveillance camera I had installed in the study earlier that day. In the footage, Ethan gently pinched the girl’s cheek, his eyes full of affection. [What else would a grown man and woman be doing late at night in the room next to his girlfriend?] The system chimed in unhelpfully. I laughed coldly in response. What else indeed, besides getting their thrills. The next morning, Ethan and Sophia were waiting at the dining table. “Olivia, this is Sophia, my new secretary. She had too much to drink last night because of company business. As the lady of the house, please be a good host and make her some breakfast.” Ethan’s cold gaze fell on me, so matter-of-fact. He didn’t even bother trying to explain why there was suddenly a woman in our home early in the morning. Sophia looked at me challengingly. “Thank you… sis.” As she walked past me, she deliberately pulled her collar open. Her neck was covered in passionate marks, clearly showing how intense things had gotten last night. “Ninety-nine times.” Sophia turned back, feigning innocence. “Hmm? What did you say, sis?” “I said, why should I make you breakfast? Who do you think you are?” Ethan’s face immediately darkened: “Olivia, Sophia is just my secretary. Don’t be so petty.” “Ethan, search your conscience and tell me, haven’t I been generous enough all these years?” I stared at him coldly. He walked over to me, looking a bit guilty: “Olivia, you’re my fiancée, the future mistress of the Clarke family. Be good and listen to me. Don’t embarrass me.” “Then when are we getting married?” I pressed him. He had let me down ninety-nine times. There was only one chance left. “Don’t make a fuss. I have a meeting at the company soon. I need to go over some work stuff with Sophia first.” “Oh, and keep breakfast light. Sophia doesn’t eat spicy food.” Ethan casually tossed out those words before heading back to the study with Sophia. It was always like this. He never said no, but he never said yes either. He just constantly deflected and made excuses, completely disregarding my feelings. I went straight to the kitchen. Though I had expected this outcome, I was surprised to find my heart still ached. I didn’t make breakfast for Ethan as I usually would. In fact, ever since Ethan’s first affair, I had regretted staying in this world for him after successfully winning him over. But I hadn’t met the new conditions to leave yet, and I wanted to give him one last chance. I had been secretly telling him through messages how much I loved him, but he took advantage of my love and became even more reckless. Now that the conditions were almost met, he had proven to me time and time again that a scumbag can’t be changed by love. It was time to leave.

Ignoring the noises coming from the study, I sat down and slowly ate my breakfast. An hour later, Ethan finally emerged, looking satisfied and fully dressed. “What the hell, Olivia? You started eating by yourself?” “Why didn’t you make any for us?” “If you want to eat, make it yourself.” I ignored him and slowly finished my last bite. Ethan’s expression turned ugly. “Olivia, you’re really disappointing me more and more. You rely on me to support you, and you can’t even be bothered to make breakfast.” “I’ll give you one more chance. Make two portions of breakfast in the next ten minutes.” Ethan looked at me contemptuously. Dead silence. I still didn’t move. Probably afraid I was really angry, Ethan changed his approach and came to hug me. “Alright, Olivia. Are you upset because I’ve been busy with work lately and haven’t spent time with you?” “I’ll make it up to you tonight after work, okay? Do you want to eat at that corner bistro, or do you want that handbag you liked? I’ll get you whatever you want. Just do me this favor today, alright?” It was always like this. Always the same. Ethan only sweet-talked me when he wanted something. He thought a few nice words would make me soften up. Why should I? I sneered: “Ethan, you don’t really think everything is a given, do you?” “That clothes magically become clean, food appears on your table by itself, the house somehow stays tidy. You just have to say the word and it all happens.” He was stunned, not expecting me to suddenly say this. “Didn’t you say you liked taking care of me? That’s why I fired all the maids. What’s this about now?” Yes, five years ago, to win him over, I couldn’t wait to stay by his side and take care of his every need. That’s how I ended up falling in love with him. But things were different now. Once I realized the man I loved wasn’t worthy, I naturally had to take back everything I’d given him. “A full-time housekeeper’s salary is at least $2,000 a month, right? This mansion is so big, five housekeepers wouldn’t be too many. That’s $10,000 a month.” “We’ve been together for five years, so that’s $600,000 total. Cash or check?” “Hmph, you’ve really become obsessed with money. Olivia, you’ve changed!” Ethan looked at me with a complex expression. “Ethan, people change, don’t they?” I met his gaze without flinching. “Forget it. You rest. I’ll take Sophia out for breakfast.” He sighed, then grabbed his coat from the rack and left with Sophia. Looking around the empty house, memories kept flashing through my mind. I was a “conqueror”, an orphan girl on the brink of death after a car accident in my original world. The system approached me, asking me to go to a parallel world to win over Ethan Clarke. It promised that if I succeeded, I could return to my original world, Not only would I regain my health, but I’d also get a lot of money. I was overjoyed, but as soon as I arrived in this world, I was cornered by thugs in an alley. That was the first time I saw Ethan. He stood in front of me like a guardian angel. After knocking out all the thugs with a brick, he grabbed my hand and we ran. No one had ever protected me like that in my original world. I fell for him helplessly. His carefree, dazzling smile that day is etched in my memory forever. With the system’s help, I soon met him again at the bar where I worked. He was surrounded by rich kids beating him up. When he looked at me, his eyes were filled with despair, no longer spirited like before. His resistance angered one of the rich kids, who was about to pull out a knife. I quickly found a way to get the manager to help, and we rescued him. That night, he ordered a lot of drinks to help me earn more tips. He also rambled on about many things. It turned out he was the illegitimate son of a company boss. His half-brother was causing him trouble everywhere to fight for the family inheritance. “Ethan, I believe you’re better than him.” I told him firmly. Later on, he started pursuing me. The conquest progress steadily increased. At first I was happy, but as the numbers got higher and higher, I began to hesitate. Before coming to this world, I was too ordinary. I had no family, no money, and had never experienced being loved. I thought, rather than return to that life in my original world, I might as well let the conquest progress stall. At least here, as the conquest target, I still had the male lead’s love. I started to feel insecure, avoiding Ethan or saying hurtful things I couldn’t control. But he always firmly believed we were in love. He said even though he didn’t know about my love, he could feel how much he loved me. Even though I pushed him away again and again, he kept coming back with his heart on his sleeve. In the end, I still succeeded in conquering him. I was extremely reluctant to part with such a good lover. I negotiated with the system to see if I could stay. The system agreed, saying it would give me five years, but also gave me one chance to change my mind. The system said [No male lead can remain faithful to just one woman after the grand finale.] I didn’t believe it, saying Ethan was different from other male leads. I never expected…

After I stayed, I accompanied Ethan as he slowly built up the business. Though I couldn’t hold my liquor, I forced myself to drink until I could handle any amount, ending up in the ER several times. Finally, after much effort, Ethan’s father saw our potential and let us take over the company. Ethan also proved himself capable, growing the company bigger and bigger, his net worth increasing rapidly. Once, after being forced to drink by a client, I carelessly revealed the truth about the conquest when I got home. Ethan held me tenderly, saying he would be good to me for life and that I didn’t need to hide anything from him. But less than a month later, he started fooling around with different women. He was certain I couldn’t go back, so he became more and more reckless, each time worse than the last. From the first time I discovered his affair, I regretted staying. I made a new deal with the system – the day Ethan let me down for the hundredth time would be when I left. I originally wanted to leave Ethan right away and wait for that day to come. But the system informed me that in this parallel world, I relied on the male lead’s energy to survive. If I stayed away from him, I would be rejected by this world and die a miserable death. So reluctantly, I had to continue playing the role of his obedient, virtuous wife. But Ethan really didn’t disappoint. In just four short years, I had proposed marriage 99 times, each time rejected. Meanwhile, the women by his side kept changing. No matter how I tried to remind him through messages, he remained indifferent. Instead, he took my love as a reason he could manipulate me. Fortunately, it was almost the hundredth time. This time, I would leave forever. In the evening when Ethan returned, he had already changed into a new set of clothes. He handed me a document with a smile: “Olivia, the company is about to go public. When the time comes, get dressed up and we’ll go ring the bell together!” “Okay.” I nodded numbly. Whether the company went public or not no longer mattered to me. After all, I couldn’t take anything with me when I left. “Olivia, don’t be angry anymore. Those women were just for fun.” “You’re the one who’s been by my side all along. In the future, you’ll be my only wife.” Ethan’s eyes were full of deep affection. I found it hard to understand how he could passionately make love to his secretary in the study last night, yet profess his love to me so tenderly today. “Mm, I know.” It wasn’t long before I could leave. I just needed to endure a little longer. At this moment, Ethan’s phone kept buzzing with incoming messages from someone frantically texting him. “Aren’t you going to check that?” I raised an eyebrow. “It’s nothing important. Today I want to spend time with you!” Ethan shook his head, a placating smile on his face. But I no longer felt that heart-fluttering excitement. I only felt annoyed. However, the other person wasn’t about to let him off the hook. Call after call kept coming through. I looked up at him: “Ethan, it’s very noisy.” Without a word, he took his phone and walked into the bedroom. I took out my own phone and started typing messages. “Ethan, don’t ignore the beauties outside for Olivia’s sake.” “Olivia will never leave you. She’ll still be willing to marry you even after you’ve had your fun.” This was an ability the system gave me. Only Ethan could see these messages. To leave as soon as possible, I had to let him continue hurting me recklessly. Soon, Ethan came out of the room looking apologetic. “Olivia, there’s a problem with a business deal at the company. I need to go take care of it. I’ll be back as soon as I can!” “Go ahead.” I kept scrolling on my tablet. I was logged into Ethan’s Instagram account. The most recent message was from Sophia – photos of her in various risqué outfits, so revealing it made me blush. The chat ended with Ethan’s message: “You little minx, just wait till big brother shows you what he can do!” “Olivia, I’ll bring back those dumplings you like from the north side when I come home later.” Ethan said as he grabbed his coat and car keys on his way out. Back when Ethan and I first got together, all I could afford was one order of dumplings. He went hungry and gave them to me. At the time, I thought they were the most delicious food in the world. At midnight, my phone received several explicit videos. Ethan’s beautiful almond-shaped eyes were filled with lust. An hour later, Ethan came back with the dumplings from the north side, along with a faint scent of women’s perfume. I had just taken my first bite when I recalled those videos. I felt incredibly nauseous and couldn’t control myself as I rushed to the bathroom and threw up. “Olivia, what’s wrong? Is your stomach acting up again? Quick, come eat some dumplings!” Ethan came over to support me, looking concerned. I didn’t want him to touch me at all. I struggled free and went to pour myself a glass of warm water, trying to suppress the nausea. “It’s fine. Olivia, someone will come deliver custom-made gowns tomorrow. Pick one to wear when you accompany me to the bell-ringing ceremony.” “After the company goes public and stabilizes, we’ll get married.” Ethan patted my back as he spoke. It seemed the company going public made him very happy, even prompting him to bring up marriage on his own. I nodded slightly at the mirror. It’s not going to happen, Ethan. We’ll never get married.

The next day, the gowns arrived three hours late. When I asked, I found out Ethan had taken the white gown I chose to have it altered. The dress was already made to my measurements, so it was clear who he was having it altered for. Forget it. I was about to leave anyway. No point in arguing with people from this world anymore. Soon, the day of the company’s bell-ringing ceremony arrived. I put on a smile and gracefully accompanied Ethan through the ceremony. Sophia’s eyes in the audience below were burning with jealousy, looking like they could bore holes in me. As the boss’s wife, I also had to attend the shareholders’ meeting, forcing myself to stay alert. In the past, I would have carefully recorded every word at these meetings, not missing a single detail. Then I’d go back and help Ethan analyze how to make the company even better. But now, none of it mattered to me anymore. All the facts and figures made me drowsy. Suddenly, I heard Ethan shout angrily. “What’s going on? Who put together today’s PowerPoint?” I looked up to see that all 99 slides of the presentation were filled with my boudoir photos – innocent ones, seductive ones… Without exception, they were all quite revealing. It was the year I loved him most. Ethan had begged me for a long time before I finally agreed to take those photos as a memento for him. “Mr. Clarke, there’s no need to share your little couple’s games with all of us shareholders. Are you trying to make us part of your roleplaying?” “I think Ms. Johnson has a great figure. Mr. Clarke, are you doing this because you want to share the joy with everyone? Haha!” The male shareholders’ lecherous gazes fell on me as they made one mocking comment after another. “It was my fault. I used Mr. Clarke’s computer for the presentation and accidentally used the wrong file!” Sophia, dressed in a smart business suit, hurried to admit her mistake, looking like she was about to cry. “It’s fine, it’s just a mix-up with the files. Don’t make such a big deal out of it. Sophia, redo it and let’s continue the meeting!” Ethan brushed it off carelessly, clearly more protective of his cute little secretary. The other female shareholders looked at me with unbearably pitying eyes. “Ethan, I’m the one whose private photos were exposed. She should apologize to me, and you owe me an explanation too.” I stood up and looked at Ethan. But before Ethan could speak, Sophia had already started fake crying: “Sis, don’t blame Mr. Clarke. I was too careless. If you want to scold someone, scold me!” I was about to leave anyway. No point in trying to get along with anyone in this world. Since that’s how it is… I swung my arm and slapped her hard across the face. “You’re right, you deserve to be scolded and hit!” “Olivia! How could you hit someone!” “Sophia just made a small mistake at work. Do you have to keep harping on it?” “Besides, if you thought those photos were inappropriate for others to see, why did you agree to take them in the first place!” Ethan pulled Sophia behind him protectively and angrily berated me, spittle flying. I looked at my conquest target and suddenly felt dizzy. Steadying myself against the table, I found it laughably ironic. Maybe I never truly knew Ethan. Maybe what I thought was his love for me was just an illusion created by the conquest. How foolish of me to think that was love. Ethan was still insulting me with vicious words, saliva spraying everywhere. I raised my head and slowly walked towards him. “You’re right. I was so focused on hitting her, I forgot about you.” SLAP! An incredibly loud slap rang out in the meeting room. For a moment, everyone fell into an awkward silence. “Shut up. She illegally shared my private photos. I’m calling the police!” I crossed my arms and said. Sophia gently tugged on Ethan’s sleeve. Ethan said coldly: “We can’t call the police. Olivia, be more gracious and don’t make such a big deal out of this with a young girl.” “Those photos star you. What good will it do you if this blows up? In the end, you’ll be the one embarrassed!” I shook my head with a smile: “With that attitude, it’s hard for me not to call the police.” “Then what do you want?” “I want half of the shares you hold. Sign them over to me right now!” “And I want you to marry me.”
