  • After the IVF, I heard my husband’s true feelings

After confirming my pregnancy, I, Ellie Welch, unexpectedly heard my husband Jaiden Gilbert’s inner thoughts. “This idiot is still celebrating her pregnancy, but we’ve already switched her IVF embryo. She’s nothing more than a surrogate for us. If Layla wasn’t afraid of the physical toll of childbirth, I would’ve dumped this woman ages ago. I feel sick just looking at her. Once she gives birth, I’ll make sure she dies on the operating table, then immediately marry Layla.” My entire body went rigid as I clutched the IVF test results, my gaze shifting to Jaiden. He was looking at me tenderly, saying, “Let’s go home, Ellie. I’ll take good care of you and the baby over the next few months.” At the same time, his inner voice came through again: “I’m going to lock this idiot in a dog cage and see where she can run!” I was shocked and heartbroken. Because the Layla that Jaiden mentioned was actually my own sister, Layla Welch. I stared at Jaiden in disbelief: “What did you just say?” Jaiden looked confused, gently stroking my head: “I didn’t say anything.” But his inner voice rang out again: “What’s she getting at? Looking for trouble? If she wasn’t pregnant right now, I’d beat the hell out of her. The baby in her belly is mine and Layla’s precious child—that’s her only value.” I could clearly see that Jaiden’s mouth hadn’t moved at all. Which meant I really could hear his thoughts! I swallowed hard, suppressing my shock as that familiar name echoed repeatedly in my mind—Layla, my sister’s name! I turned to look at Layla, who was busy in the kitchen with my mother Grace Welch. She wore a low-cut bodycon dress, smiling brightly as she prepared a celebratory dinner for my pregnancy. Seeing me look over, she immediately came over: “You’re the family treasure now. Whatever you need, just say the word. I’ll love the baby in your belly like my own child.” Her hand gently caressed my belly, but I felt waves of coldness. I stared at her blankly, feeling no warmth in my heart. That’s when I noticed Layla subtly brushing Jaiden’s leg with her calf as she walked away—seemingly casual, but incredibly intimate. My stomach churned, and I nearly vomited right there. This Layla, who had grown up with me, who claimed to love me and want my happiness. When Jaiden gave me the cold shoulder, she urged me to endure it, saying it was for my own good. I used to think she cared about me, but now I understood it was just her way of manipulating me. Bottom line, the two of them just wanted me to obediently give birth, then disappear completely. At the dinner table, they exchanged glances and flirted subtly with each other. I watched Jaiden carefully peel shrimp and pick out fish bones for Layla, never once noticing that I hadn’t touched a bite of food. Because his inner thoughts were not only disgusting but terrifying enough to kill my appetite: “I’ve already bought the dog cage and chains. I’ll tie her up as soon as we get home. Mine and Layla’s child can’t have any problems! I also need to confiscate her phone and cut off all her contact with the outside world—can’t have her causing trouble. Once she gives birth, I’ll kill her directly and keep the child.” Clatter—my fork dropped to the floor, and his inner voice stopped abruptly. Under everyone’s puzzled gazes, I clenched my fists in panic. Jaiden pulled me into his arms with concern, but I broke out in goosebumps all over. He asked, “Are you feeling unwell somewhere? Tell me if you need anything.” But his inner voice was terrifyingly real: “If something happens to Layla’s child, I’ll break your legs right now!” I stood up in terror: “I… I need to use the bathroom…” Just as I got up, my arm was suddenly grabbed with frightening force. I turned to see Grace’s concerned eyes: “Are you feeling unwell somewhere, Ellie?” Grace’s concern flowed into my heart like warm water. My eyes immediately welled up with tears, my voice choked with sobs. I glanced fearfully at Jaiden before throwing myself into Grace’s arms: “Mom, I don’t want to have this baby anymore.” Grace’s body went rigid, her voice becoming tense: “What happened? Tell me clearly.” Layla also nervously grabbed my hand. But Jaiden’s inner voice came through again: “No way! I have to take her home immediately. This cannot go wrong!” Like a madman, he rushed over and gripped my arm tightly: “Dinner ends here tonight. I’ll make your favorite dishes when we get home. Come with me now!”

The stronger his grip became, the deeper my fear grew. I could barely imagine what kind of hell awaited me if I went home with Jaiden like this. Chains, dog cages, and complete social isolation… Could I even still be called “human” then? I struggled desperately to break free, but Jaiden only grew more agitated. He covered my mouth with one hand while the other yanked viciously at my hair. I bit down hard on the flesh between his thumb and forefinger, then screamed at Grace with all my strength: “The baby in my belly isn’t mine and Jaiden’s! It’s Jaiden and Layla’s! They switched the embryos behind my back!” Jaiden’s face went pale instantly, his eyes turning vicious: “Don’t listen to her nonsense. She’s just emotionally unstable from pregnancy, her head’s full of delusions.” He appeared calm on the surface, but inside he was already panicking. “Could she have seen that data sheet in my car? If she gets her hands on it, Layla and I are finished!” Cold sweat poured down Jaiden’s face, while Layla’s eyes reddened: “How could you say such things about me? I’m your own sister!” I screamed with every ounce of strength I had: “Then how do you explain why every time you were hospitalized perfectly matched the dates of my embryo transfers!” My emotions were on the verge of collapse, but more than that, I was heartbroken. My dearest sister and my husband of nearly ten years had been carrying on behind my back—it was absolutely disgusting. I inched closer to Grace, my voice trembling: “Mom, no matter what, I absolutely will not give birth to this child.” SLAP! My face was struck to one side. I looked up in a daze, tasting blood in my mouth. Grace said: “No matter how angry you are, you’ll do as you’re told. You must give birth to Layla’s child!” I opened my mouth but couldn’t make a sound. Then another sharp slap landed across my face. I was knocked to the ground, my vision going black, unable to get up for a long time. Grace continued: “We’re just asking you to have a baby for Layla—is that really worth getting so angry about? How can you be so ungrateful? Don’t you know how much damage pregnancy does to a woman’s body? How could you bear to let Layla go through that herself? What’s wrong with helping her have the baby and then giving it to her! After all these years, you still haven’t figured out your place. If Layla hadn’t gotten sick as a child, why would I have had you?” I clutched my face in agony, my eyes filled with disbelief. It wasn’t until my gaze swept over the table full of food that I smiled bitterly. Right—I was never the one who was loved. The dishes on the table looked nutritious and elaborately prepared, but not a single one was something I liked to eat. They were all made to Layla’s taste. The only reason I came into this world was because Layla was sickly as a child and might need blood or organs from a close relative at any time. So Grace had me. And my existence was solely for Layla’s sake. I stood there disheveled, long-suppressed resentment churning in my heart. Why, when we’re both human beings, could I only live as Layla’s appendage? I glared at Layla angrily: “If you like Jaiden, why didn’t you marry him? Why did you have to steal my happiness?” Layla bit her lip lightly, her face full of conflict and pain: “I’m too stupid—I don’t know how to take care of a man. I was afraid Jaiden would suffer if he was with me. Besides, I never thought about having children back then. How could I irresponsibly marry someone?” She looked up at Jaiden, her gaze gentle and shy. A sharp pain shot through my stomach, and nausea surged up. So even when heartbreak numbs you, you can still feel sick. At that moment, I realized from Jaiden’s thoughts that I couldn’t waste any more time—I had to escape immediately. Once these beast-like family members caught me, my future would be nothing but darkness. I forced myself to stay calm and said: “I want to go outside to cool down. I’ll be back in a bit.” I turned to leave, but Jaiden clearly had no intention of letting me go. He wrapped his arm around my waist, his large hand clamping down on my arm like a vise: “I’ll come with you. There must be some misunderstanding between us—we can talk it through slowly.” Jaiden’s thoughts echoed in my ears again: “I need to get Ellie to the car first, knock her out with the stun gun, then take her home and teach her a lesson slowly. The embryo switch absolutely cannot be exposed! If people find out, Layla’s and my reputations will be ruined!”

I stubbornly stood my ground, refusing to get in the car with Jaiden no matter what. Seeing us arguing outside, Grace and Layla immediately rushed out to intervene. “I should never have given birth to you! You don’t know the meaning of gratitude!” Grace’s recent gentleness had completely vanished, replaced only by bone-chilling fury. “Just have Layla’s baby first, then you can have your own child afterward. It’s not like it’ll kill you.” Layla’s eyes also reddened as she sobbed, “If you want to blame someone, blame me. This has nothing to do with Jaiden!” Jaiden maintained his outward composure: “Don’t worry about it. We’ll go back and talk things through properly. Everything can be resolved. I believe Ellie is still willing to make this sacrifice for Layla.” But inwardly, he was cursing me: “Damn bitch, once we get back, I’m going to break your legs!” Grace and Layla stood at a distance, watching me struggle in agony, yet remained completely unmoved. Jaiden reached for the car door, preparing to retrieve a stun gun from inside. I fought back desperately, landing an elbow strike to his face and seizing the chance to pull out the small knife I’d hidden in my pocket. “Take one more step and I’ll take us all down together!” I threatened. My voice trembled with fear. During the time Jaiden had been restraining me, I’d been desperately calling for help. I’d thought no one would help me in this unfamiliar city, but unexpectedly, within just a few minutes, neighbors began poking their heads out from all around. Hope rekindled in my eyes as I rushed toward the crowd: “Help me! I’ve been kidnapped by my own family! Please, I’m begging you to save me! My husband conspired with my sister to switch my IVF embryos. They want to use my body as a surrogate. Please help me!” People emerged one by one, and some brave souls even stepped directly in front of me: “How can there be such monsters? We’ll help you!” I broke down crying, thinking I’d finally found someone to rely on. Looking at the three people approaching me, I felt no fear in my heart. With so many witnesses present, surely they couldn’t force me back. Jaiden approached unhurriedly, looking down at me with a cruel smile: “Darling, your mental illness is getting worse and worse. When did you get pregnant? How come we never knew about it?” My mind went blank with a buzzing sound, and I froze completely in place. He chuckled softly as he turned to address the crowd behind me: “She’s been like this for several years now. The treatment hasn’t been going well lately. Please forgive the disturbance.” I explained weakly and desperately: “That’s not true! I really am pregnant! I have proof! And I don’t have any mental illness.” Jaiden put on a pitying expression: “I’m so sorry that a mentally ill person has wasted everyone’s time. I’ll take her home right away.” The crowd looked at me again, their eyes no longer holding the same concern as before. “Oh, so she’s mentally ill. We’d better keep our distance.” “That poor man. His wife has mental problems and he’s still committed to getting her treatment. What a good person.” I watched helplessly as Jaiden grabbed me again, forcibly dragging me toward the car. His thoughts surfaced without any attempt at concealment: “Your pregnancy certificate is back in the house. If you run back to get it, I’ll lock you inside forever and you’ll never get out. If you can’t produce evidence, you’ll have no chance of escaping today!” I struggled desperately, still crying out for help, but no one was willing to pay attention to me anymore. I was like a dying fish, struggling on the shore but unable to see even a glimmer of hope for survival. Jaiden finally lost his patience and suddenly grabbed my throat with his large hand, preventing me from making any sound. “Don’t even think about escaping!” He stared at me fiercely, his fingers gradually tightening, making it impossible for me to breathe. I glared at him and managed a mocking smile despite my weakness: “I’m not the one who should be running. You are.” I weakly raised my hand, pointing behind Jaiden. Jaiden spun around abruptly, and after seeing what was behind him, his eyes suddenly widened in shock.

  • I got into debt after helping my boyfriend manage his money

I’m Freya Sanchez, and on the very first day my boyfriend Julius Harris and I made our relationship official, he insisted on handing over his salary for me to manage. He said marriage was inevitable, and he’d only feel secure giving his money to his future wife. On our engagement day, Julius suddenly demanded I produce the $960,000 in savings I’d been managing for the past four years. He said, “I’ve been giving you $20,000 every month for four years—that’s $960,000 total. After daily expenses, there should be at least $800,000 left, right? I don’t want my parents paying for our wedding. How about we use my savings instead? $600,000 for the down payment on a new house, and $200,000 to buy you wedding gifts.” I was completely stunned. “But there’s not a penny of your money left!” Julius immediately flew into a rage. “You spent all $960,000!” His mother Monica Harris also erupted in anger: “What did you do with all that money? What shameful things have you been up to? This wedding is off!” Julius insisted on checking the accounts, so I immediately pulled out the receipts in front of everyone. But suddenly Monica panicked. On our engagement day, both Julius’s and my family and friends were present to discuss our wedding plans. Everything was going smoothly until one of Julius’s relatives said with a smile, “No wonder everyone says Freya’s great with money—she must have saved quite a bit for Julius over these four years, right? Now you’ll have enough for the wedding without either family having to worry about it.” I was completely confused, thinking, “I saved money for Julius?” Before I could react, Monica suddenly started wiping away tears. “Julius, my dear son. You’re so afraid of burdening us that you don’t want us to spend a penny on your wedding—you’ve saved up enough yourself. I’m so proud of you.” I didn’t understand what was happening. Julius’s relatives were all moved. Julius was also emotional and immediately took my hand. “I’ve been giving you $20,000 every month for four years—that’s $960,000 total. After expenses, there should be at least $800,000 left. I don’t want my parents paying for our wedding. How about we use my savings instead? $600,000 for the down payment on a new house, and $200,000 to buy you wedding gifts.” I looked bewildered, but he kept going: “Your family can handle the renovation costs and furniture—we can put both our names on the deed. $800,000 is just right. Freya, don’t think it’s too little—this is the most I can give you.” My parents Kevin and Julia Sanchez believed it, actually thinking Julius had $800,000 saved with me. Combined with his words, they looked at him with even more admiration. Julia even agreed on the spot to cover renovation and appliance costs. “Since Julius is being so sincere, of course we have no problem with that!” Envious voices surrounded us. “How wonderful—both families are so generous and easy to work with. Julius is really something—this couple’s going to have such a sweet life together.” But I couldn’t join in this enthusiastic atmosphere and pulled my hand from Julius’s grasp. “Are you sure you have $800,000 saved with me?” The relatives who had just been moved suddenly looked confused. Facing everyone’s stares, Julius paused for a moment, then straightened up. “Of course! $20,000 a month, that’s $240,000 a year, and $960,000 over four years. After expenses, getting back $800,000 isn’t unreasonable, is it?” I laughed bitterly. “So you’re saying your personal expenses for a whole year were only $40,000? An average of $3,000 per month? Julius, think carefully before you speak.” Only then did I fully realize how wrong this whole situation was. If I foolishly admitted to this $800,000 in front of all these people today, I’d never be able to explain myself later. Without even thinking, Julius blurted out, “Of course! I don’t smoke, I occasionally have drinks with friends—how much could I possibly spend in a month?” My expression darkened. “What if I told you that your money—there’s not a penny left?”

Julius said, “How is that possible? Freya, you’ve got to be kidding me.” In front of all our relatives, he struggled to maintain his gentlemanly composure. The first half of his sentence nearly cracked, while he forcibly lowered his voice for the second half. Monica also forgot about her dramatics and stopped her tears. Julia sensed something was wrong and asked me with a frown, “Freya, what’s really going on?” I pressed my lips together and raised my voice to ensure everyone present could hear clearly: “Julius does indeed hand over his salary to me every month on time, but the apartment we rent together for work convenience costs five thousand dollars a month…” Before I could finish, Julia immediately grasped the key point: “Even if you each pay half, Julius claims his monthly expenses are over three thousand dollars. After deducting that twenty-five hundred, the remaining money wouldn’t even cover drinks with his friends, would it?” Every member of the Harris family’s smile instantly froze. Julius’s face also showed some embarrassment, but he still tried to speak in a calm tone: “Freya, I know my monthly expenses might be more than that, but it’s impossible that I spent everything, right? Tell me the truth—how much of the money I gave you is left?” I shrugged. “Like I said, not a penny.” Realizing I was serious, Julius finally lost his composure and stood up from his chair: “You spent all nine hundred thousand dollars?” His sudden outburst startled me, leaving me momentarily stunned. The cold, ruthless man before me with his twisted expression was hard to believe was the same lover I’d spent four years with day and night. Monica completely exploded too, beginning to cry and shout: “You squandered all that money—what shameful things did you do? You two are not getting married!” The Harris family relatives also began whispering among themselves. “Julius is the most promising of the younger generation in the Harris family. How could someone who earns so much money in a year have nothing left?” “Looks like young people dating really is expensive. I’ll need to find a frugal wife for my son.” “Exactly. I used to think Freya was quite virtuous and good with money, but turns out she’s a gold digger.” Kevin and Julia’s faces darkened upon hearing these harsh words. But they knew my character and understood I wasn’t someone who spent money recklessly. Kevin quietly signaled to me: “Freya, clear things up right now. We won’t take advantage of anyone, but we won’t let anyone bully us either.” Sharp-eared Monica continued crying while speaking sarcastically: “Not taking advantage? A million dollars all spent—how much has your daughter enjoyed these four years with Julius? How could she possibly be at a loss?” Julia, being a decent person, couldn’t stoop to acting like a shrew, and her face flushed with anger: “Freya, even between close siblings, accounts should be settled clearly—you should understand this principle, right? Don’t give people ammunition to use against you! Since everyone’s here today, why don’t we settle the accounts in front of everyone!” Settle accounts? Of course we should. The Harris family relatives were all craning their necks, waiting for the show, so how could I disappoint them?

I pointed at Julius’s suit and said, “That suit you’re wearing is worth thirty-eight thousand dollars, your shirt is eighty-nine hundred dollars, those shoes are five thousand dollars, and even your tie is a designer piece worth over two thousand dollars. You have at least seven or eight outfits like this in your closet.” Immediately, whispered calculations filled the air around us, with some people even pulling out their phones to use calculators. The final conclusion was jaw-dropping: “My God, just these few outfits alone cost over four hundred thousand dollars!” Julius clearly hadn’t expected his expenses to be so astronomical. He lost some of his confidence, and even his parents stood there stunned. After a long pause, he finally managed to speak: “Some of those clothes were birthday gifts from you. You’re not planning to count those against me, are you? Using my money to buy me presents? That’s quite a stretch.” I was so angry I laughed: “When did I ever say I was counting those against you?” At most, I could only blame myself for falling for the wrong person and being too generous with him. After saying this, my gaze fell on his wrist. That watch was a Christmas birthday gift I’d given him this year. I had told him it only cost a few tens of thousands of dollars, when it actually cost hundreds of thousands. Before today, Julius and I had gotten along fairly well. Though he had some vanity and pretentiousness that came with his rural background suddenly becoming wealthy – which put him on a different level from me, a first-tier city only child – he didn’t have any other major flaws and was considerate toward me. Especially when it came to food, clothing, housing, and transportation, we were very compatible and had similar tastes. Unlike other rural guys who were penny-pinchers, he was quite generous with his spending. I just never realized his generosity came from spending all my money without any burden, as if I were an inexhaustible treasury. After tearing away this glamorous facade, our four-year relationship turned out to be so fragile. To protect his pride and dignity, I didn’t even dare reveal my true income and family background. When he said his monthly salary was twenty thousand dollars, I deliberately understated mine by five thousand. Looking back now, it was completely unnecessary! Noticing my gaze, he quickly pulled down his sleeve to cover the watch: “This was a Christmas birthday gift from you this year! This shouldn’t count either, right?” A wave of disgust rose in my chest: “I know, I’m not planning to count everything. I just want to ask you one more time – do we need to keep calculating this account? Will you admit that you have absolutely no savings from what you’ve earned while with me?” Julius shouted irritably: “Calculate! Of course we should calculate! Even if half of those outfits were bought by me, that’s only around two hundred thousand dollars, and those were work necessities. If you say I have nothing left, where did all the money go? I really want to see what other tricks you can come up with besides these major expenses!” I nodded and pulled out my phone, opening my usual expense tracking app: “These are our daily living expenses. Rent is five thousand dollars a month, utilities, gas, tissues and other miscellaneous expenses are a thousand dollars a month, and in summer the electricity bill goes up another thousand. “Besides that, you can’t cook and I don’t have time to, so we handle breakfast and lunch at the office, and for dinner we either order takeout or eat at restaurants – that’s at least three to four thousand dollars a month. “And you don’t just occasionally go out drinking with friends – it’s at least ten times a month, and you ask me for money every time. On average, that’s five thousand dollars a month. You alone spend ten thousand dollars a month!” Julius gritted his teeth: “Fine, even if you give me ten thousand dollars a month, that’s four hundred and eighty thousand over four years, plus the two hundred thousand I spent on clothes, that’s less than seven hundred thousand total. But over these four years, I’ve given you nearly a million dollars! Where’s the rest of the money?” Just then, Monica suddenly looked panicked and pressed Julius back into his chair: “Julius, stop calculating!” Everyone could see this bizarre turn of events clearly—my parents and I were all watching in disbelief. Julius looked equally confused. “Mom, what are you doing? Of course we need to settle the accounts. How can we get married without clearing this up? You were just saying—” Monica quickly covered his mouth and gave Julia an awkward laugh. “We got a bit carried away earlier and said some inappropriate things. But with so much money involved, we were naturally anxious. Please don’t take offense—we didn’t mean to make a scene. We’re all family here, no need to keep separate accounts. Julius’s money is Freya’s money too, so there’s no need to be so precise about it. Everyone must be hungry, right? Let’s have the waiters bring out the food.” But Julius wouldn’t listen. He pushed Monica’s hand away. “Mom! How can we eat at a time like this? According to Freya, I don’t have a penny left. What am I supposed to use for the wedding? Your money? I can’t do that! If she doesn’t settle these accounts with me today, this isn’t over!” I immediately shot back, “Even if we do settle the accounts, I’m not marrying you anymore. I’m afraid if I marry into your family, I’ll be schemed against until there’s nothing left of me!” A sharp slap rang out, and the entire room fell dead silent. I clutched my burning cheek, staring in disbelief at Julius’s father, Derek Harris. Derek had been sitting there silently with a dark expression the whole time. I never expected him to suddenly lash out and deliver such a resounding slap. He cursed furiously, “You bitch! You took my son’s money to support some other man, didn’t you? Otherwise, how could you blow through $180,000? Julius marrying you would be our family’s misfortune!” His words were even more vicious than Julius’s and Monica’s. My parents snapped out of their shock, shielding me while shoving Derek. When Julius saw my father grab his dad by the collar, he actually stepped in to help, pushing my father to the ground. Seeing this, I couldn’t care about anything else. I rushed forward and slapped Julius hard across the face. “How dare you hit my dad! You bastard!” When Monica saw me hit Julius, she came at me, clawing and scratching. Julia naturally couldn’t stand by and watch. Forgetting all about maintaining her composure, she rushed forward and got into a tussle with Monica. The scene descended into complete chaos. What made it even worse was that relatives from both sides initially tried to break up the fight, but somehow it escalated into an all-out brawl. The room filled with curses and sounds of fighting. That bastard Julius even managed to kick me twice in the confusion. Just as the situation was about to spiral completely out of control, the restaurant manager burst into the private dining room with security guards. “Stop fighting! If you don’t stop, I’m calling the police!” Under the forceful intervention of the security guards, both sides finally stopped. We didn’t have many relatives here today, but Julius’s side had at least ten people. We took quite a beating—even Julia had scratches on her face. Julius spat a mouthful of bloody saliva on the floor, pushed back his sweat-soaked hair, revealing several scratch marks I’d left on his forehead. “Freya, I don’t think we should let it get this bad. We’ve been together for four years—how can we just turn on each other like this? Look, we don’t have to call off the wedding. I’ve thought of a solution. I still have over $200,000 with you—consider it my wedding gift to you. Have your parents use the money they set aside for renovations and appliances as a down payment for the house, and I’ll pay them back later. Let’s just pretend today never happened.” Never happened? He kicked me twice during the fight, both sides nearly fought to the death, and now right after the brawl, he wants to tell me it “never happened”? He was thinking way too simply! I screamed at him, “In your dreams! No way!” Seeing me curse at him, he dropped all pretense and yelled back, “Fine! Freya, you’re really something. We’re not getting married then! Transfer that $200,000 back to me right now, or this isn’t over!” Clutching my aching stomach, I shouted, “I’m sending you all the receipts right now. Open your eyes wide and look carefully—not only do you have nothing left, you actually owe me $100,000! If you don’t pay me back, this isn’t over! If you want to settle accounts, let’s do it now. If there’s anything you don’t understand, ask me right away. Let’s get this straight once and for all so you won’t come back to disgust me later!” With that, I sent over all the receipts and bank transfer records I had on hand. Just as Julius was about to check his phone, Monica suddenly knocked it out of his hands with a violent swipe.

  • Alpha Awakened: Werewolves Bow to My Streaming Power

I adopted a wounded werewolf. He’d always look at me with those damp, innocent eyes, nudging his head into my palm. But then I’d wake up every day feeling achy and drained. And strange, burning red marks started appearing on my lower back. It wasn’t until the full moon that he pinned me down, hard, making me utterly helpless. Suddenly, lines of text flashed across my vision— **[The male lead saw the female lead just once and his heat cycle got triggered early! This is truly a fated love!]** **[The villainess doesn’t actually think the werewolf likes her, does she? Every time she touches him, the male lead feels sick to his stomach!]** **[Later, when the villainess hurts the female lead, the male lead throws her directly into a pack of wild werewolves to be played to death! Serves her right!]** The comments appeared just as Silas, deep in his heat cycle, had me pressed hard against the bed. His body was scorching hot, his bare skin radiating heat. His fluffy wolf tail, which had burst out uncontrollably, coiled around my waist, tightening its grip. It carried a potent mix of untamed wildness and intense possessiveness. I couldn’t help but knead his wolf ears a little harder. He let out a low groan. His brow furrowed slightly, his sweat-slicked face flushed. His silver-gray eyes locked onto mine, hot desire practically spilling from them. His warm, lingering breath brushed against my neck. His voice, deep and husky, whispered: “Easy there, that spot is… very sensitive.” A thick, sensuous atmosphere filled the bedroom. Silas spoke, his wolf ears twitching, rubbing gently against my palm. He was as docile and clingy as ever. But the comments in my mind kept swirling— **[The male lead saw the female lead once during the day and it triggered his heat early! This is truly a fated love!]** **[The villainess doesn’t actually think Silas likes her, does she? He’s just faking being good to trick her right now. Every time she touches him, the male lead feels like throwing up, okay?!]** **[Later, she even dares to hurt our precious female lead, Izzy. The male lead throws her directly into a maddened werewolf pack and she gets played to death!]** My hand froze. Then I pulled it away from his wolf ear. Silas noticed, his gaze still fixed on me. But there was a hint of confusion and a lot of restraint in his eyes. I could feel the change in his body beneath me. After a moment, I averted my gaze. “Silas, get off me,” I ordered. His brow tightened at my words. He narrowed his eyes, staring at me. His soft, massive wolf tail gently patted my leg. It was like a whine, or maybe a complaint. “You promised you’d help me tonight…” **[LOL, how good is the male lead at acting? He’s probably disgusted in his heart!]** **[He’s just letting the villainess help him through his initial heat so he’ll have more experience later and won’t hurt the female lead!]** **[The male lead is faking all of this. He’s only his true self with the female lead!]** **[The villainess is just a tool. Our darling female lead is the one the male lead truly cherishes!]** Seeing those comments, My mind felt like it had been hit with a baseball bat. I raised my hand, defiant, to touch Silas’s bare chest. His sweaty muscles instantly tensed, and a vein pulsed in his forehead. Then, instinctively, he recoiled. My hand hung in mid-air. A strange, bitter ache welled up in my heart. He noticed my reaction after a moment and tried to press his face into my hand. I pulled my hand back. I deliberately avoided his crestfallen gaze. Seizing the moment while he was distracted, I pushed him away and scrambled off the bed. I grabbed an inhibitor from the nightstand. And tossed it onto the bed. “Inject yourself,” I said, before turning and walking away. I went out to the living room balcony to calm my nerves. After a long contemplation, I finally called The Shifter Registry. “Hello, my werewolf’s injuries have healed. Please send someone to pick him up as soon as possible.” “Yes, as soon as possible. Thank you.” After hanging up, I turned to go back inside. I looked up and saw a tall figure standing by the wall. Silas stood there, exuding a dangerous, stormy gloom. His eyes were dark and chilling. After a long moment, he quietly asked: “You don’t want me anymore?”

Silas’s gaze sent shivers down my spine. In the past, he was always docile and clingy. Around me, he was more like a giant wolf-dog. Nothing like this now, hidden in the shadows, like a phantom. **[The villainess is finally giving up on the male lead?! The male lead is so happy he’s showing his true colors!]** **[Is the plot moving faster? That’s good! We’ll get to see the male and female leads’ happy sex life soon~]** **[Don’t let Silas’s look fool you, he’s probably ecstatic inside!]** **[After all, with no evil villainess bothering him, he can finally be with his darling female lead!]** The comments flashed rapidly through my mind. And my heart grew colder inch by inch. Meeting his gaze, I said calmly: “You’re an independent being. Now that you’re fully recovered, you should go back.” Silas stared at me silently. After a long pause, he took a step, closing in on me. His intense scent enveloped me. My heart tightened involuntarily. I tried to retreat, but he immediately grabbed my wrist. He pressed my hand against his warm, hard chest. He watched me intently, his eyes glistening. Both wolf ears drooped, making him look surprisingly pitiful. His voice was soft and slow, almost a seduction: “Touch it. It says it doesn’t want to leave you.” Beneath my palm, I felt the powerful thrum of his beating heart. My heart fluttered despite myself. **[The male lead is acting again. The villainess won’t actually fall for it, will she?]** **[Actually, the male lead is already dying to go find his darling female lead!]** **[Wake up, villainess. Who do you think you are? Do you really believe the male lead would be obsessed with you?!]** A sharp pain pierced my heart. It felt like a giant hand was squeezing it, suffocating and unbearable. After a moment, I yanked my hand free from Silas. “You don’t belong here. Leave,” I said coldly. Without another word, I walked into the guest room. I locked the door, pulled the covers over my head, and lay down. Listening to Silas’s low murmurs outside the door, my heart ached with bitterness. The comments kept swirling all night. I didn’t sleep well. But I finally understood that the world I was in was just a novel. And the “comments” were actually the readers’ segment reviews. I accepted this fact almost instantly. After all, the female lead they talked about was Isabelle Sterling, the Sterling family’s cherished daughter. My life had become strange ever since the Sterling family found me, their real biological daughter who was switched at birth, six months ago. Isabelle became what everyone called the “fake heiress.” But that didn’t stop her from still being the Sterling family’s adored daughter, the apple of everyone’s eye. And me, supposedly the real heiress, The Sterlings treated me warily, afraid Isabelle would be upset by her true origins, so they discriminated against me. Even the staff didn’t take me seriously. The day I found Silas, Isabelle accused me of tearing up her piano competition invitation, and the Sterling family threw me out. My birth mother said she regretted finding me if I was so jealous. My biological brother, Ashton, hugged Isabelle protectively and glared at me coldly. In the pouring rain, I said nothing. On my way out, I found Silas, covered in blood. He was barely alive, licking my fingertips weakly. I thought he must have been bullied too. So, in the end, I brought him home. The next morning, the werewolf was gone from the house. The Shifter Registry must have picked him up. I felt a sense of relief. But also a touch of wistfulness. After getting ready, I went to the Federal Institute of Biological Sciences. As soon as I entered the building, a male voice called out to me. “Blair, why do you look so pale?” “Didn’t sleep well?” Landon Price, the new head of my department, was gentle and kind, offering me a cup of coffee. Perhaps because he was an older student from my alma mater, he’d been quite caring towards me lately. I was just about to take the coffee with a smile. When the comments appeared in my mind— **[LOL, the villainess almost thought the male lead was genuinely kind to her!]** **[She’ll never know that the male lead is only approaching her to steal her research results and give them to his darling female lead!]** **[She doesn’t actually think the male lead would like her, does she? Hahaha, a mere villainess isn’t worthy!]** **[In reality, the male lead has long been disgusted by her. Every time he gives her something, he’s totally repulsed!]**

My outstretched hand paused. Landon’s smile remained gentle. But there was a hint of impatience in his eyes from holding the coffee too long. Seeing my troubled expression, he asked, “What’s wrong?” I pulled my hand back. “I have something to do. I can’t chat,” I said flatly. Without waiting for his reply, I stepped directly into the elevator. I’d thought maybe someone would treat me with genuine kindness. But it seemed everyone had their own hidden agenda. Still, my words weren’t entirely an excuse. The institute had recently taken in a batch of mutated creatures. I was busy with their assessment and integration. My life during this period became a routine, a straight line between home and the institute. The house felt a little empty without a werewolf. It was a bit strange at first. But gradually, I felt nothing about it. After all, Silas’s life and mine were just two intersecting lines. After a brief convergence, we would forever diverge. That day, when my work at the institute was done, I walked out of the lab. Peeling off my sterile gloves, I asked my assistant: “Have the last batch of test subjects been sent out?” For evaluated test subjects, aggressive creatures were to be sent to The Federal Institute of Biological Sciences for unified handling. Non-dangerous creatures were to be returned to their owners. My assistant flipped through some files. “All non-aggressive creatures have been returned,” she replied diligently. “However, there’s still one mutated Ragdoll cat left. The researchers here are busy, so it might take a few days to send it off.” I asked for the cat owner’s address. My assistant gave me a location. It wasn’t too far, so I decided to return it myself. I secured the pet carrier in the back seat and drove to the destination. When I arrived at the villa gate, I rang the doorbell. The door opened to a familiar face. “Blair? It’s actually you.” Isabelle, dressed in luxurious, exquisite clothes, looked me up and down. Then she let out a light laugh. “Do you regret leaving the Sterling family?” “So you’ve come to beg me to put in a good word for you?” Isabelle crossed her arms, her tone dismissive and mocking. Her attitude made me feel a little lost. I simply handed her the pet carrier and said blandly: “I’m from the institute. You submitted a mutated Ragdoll cat.” “After evaluation, this cat is non-aggressive. Please ensure its proper care.” The woman took the carrier. Her face showed a hint of surprise when she heard “institute.” Then her eyes turned green with envy and hatred. I remembered shortly after I was found by the Sterling family, my birth mother had talked to me. She’d asked if I could give my research position at the institute to Isabelle. Just because Isabelle liked it. I was astonished. The institute was a federal agency, directly managed by the government. I had gone through layers of selection to get in; it was an extremely competitive process. Moreover, I had already made significant achievements there. Why should I give it up just because she liked it? So I refused. From then on, Isabelle had targeted me at every turn. “What’s there to be proud of, working at the institute?!” The woman scoffed. Just then, footsteps sounded from the living room. “Izzy, who is it? What’s taking so long?” Isabelle’s eyes subtly darkened, and her gaze flickered. She then forcefully grabbed the cat directly from the pet carrier. I sharply warned: “Be careful!” Even if the cat wasn’t aggressive, it was still a mutated species. Without proper care, it could still hurt someone. The next second, I heard the cat’s furious snarls. The cat, agitated, bit and clawed. When Ashton Sterling walked out, he saw the woman’s arms covered in bloody scratch marks. His face immediately hardened. He promptly threw the cat aside. His voice filled with worried tension: “Are you okay, Izzy? I’ll take you to the hospital!” Isabelle’s face was pale from the pain. Her eyes welled with tears as she glanced at me, then quickly clutched Ashton. She feigned innocence and kindness, saying: “It’s okay, brother. Please don’t blame Blair.” “She said this cat was non-aggressive after testing, so I touched it. I never expected…” “Maybe she’s upset that I took what should have been her place, that’s why she did this. But I don’t blame her.” Ashton, hearing this, glared at me, furious. He looked utterly enraged, his chest heaving: “Blair! How could you be so cruel?” “She’s my Sterling family’s precious darling, cherished for over twenty years! How dare an outsider like you bully her?!”

  • My best friend stole my million-dollar lottery ticket

When my best friend Phoebe Jones rushed into the lottery store ahead of me and called out those familiar numbers, I knew she had been reborn with memories from her past life too. In my previous life, as graduation approached, Phoebe and I both applied for the same position at a Fortune 500 company, but there was only one opening. On the day of the interview, I suddenly felt like buying a lottery ticket. However, this made me miss my interview time, and Phoebe successfully got the job. As it turned out, my lottery ticket won fifty million dollars. After graduation, I stayed home without needing to work, living off the interest. After Phoebe joined the company, not only was her salary low, but she was bullied every day. Eventually, she took her anger out on me and pushed me off the rooftop. I died on impact. After my death, my boyfriend Carter Morrison helped her fabricate evidence, claiming that I had jumped because I’d been idle at home too long and had become mentally unstable. The two of them exploited my story to become bloggers with millions of followers and made a fortune. When I opened my eyes again, I had been reborn to the day I bought the lottery ticket. Phoebe shouted, “I want to buy a lottery ticket!” She rushed ahead of me and ran into the lottery store. When Phoebe breathlessly recited those numbers I had memorized, I knew she had been reborn too. After getting the ticket, Phoebe turned around and looked at me provocatively. She said, “Sorry, Arabella. I bought this lottery ticket.” Arabella Fraser is my name. I said nonchalantly, “I wasn’t planning to buy a lottery ticket anyway.” Hearing my words, Phoebe clearly didn’t believe me. She sneered and put the ticket in her bag. Then she said, “How is that possible? You were the one who because of this lottery ticket…” She suddenly stopped mid-sentence. I knew what Phoebe wanted to say. In my past life, it was because I bought this lottery ticket that I missed the bus and was late for my interview. Therefore, Phoebe smoothly got the job offer from that Fortune 500 company. But my lottery ticket had won fifty million dollars. Phoebe successfully got the job, while I stayed home every day living off interest without needing to work. But later, nothing went well for her at the company. Her salary was low, and she was bullied. So in her anger, she pushed me off the rooftop. At this moment, Phoebe looked at me smugly and said, “I won’t go to the company interview. Since you love doing hard work so much, I’ll let you have this opportunity.” I nodded. I thought, “In that case, I’ll let you have this fifty-million-dollar stroke of luck too.” Without hesitation, I turned around and took the bus to the company for my interview. That evening, when I returned to the dorm, I saw Carter with his arm around Phoebe’s shoulder. I must have been blind in my past life, only realizing at my death that these two had been scheming together all along. Seeing me return, not only were they not panicked, but their faces were full of provocation. Carter looked at me with disgust and said, “Arabella, the person I truly like is Phoebe. I was only with you because your family has two houses. But now it’s different. Phoebe won fifty million dollars. From now on, we’re both rich. I don’t have to compromise anymore by staying with someone as annoying as you just for money.” I clenched my fists tightly. So that’s how it was. Both Phoebe and Carter came from rural areas. One was my best friend, the other was my boyfriend. Usually, when it came to spending money, I never minded. I only now realized that they had been deliberately spending my money. Since heaven gave me a chance to start over, I would make them pay back everything they gained by using me in my past life, a hundredfold, a thousandfold. Phoebe scoffed and said, “Arabella, I used to give up the person I liked and let you have him because your family was slightly better off than mine. But now, I’ve won fifty million dollars. I don’t need to work for money anymore and have enough wealth to support my lifestyle. What do you have to compete with me? You’re destined to be someone who works hard for a living, but Carter and I are different. We’re about to travel the world. This kind of life is something you’ll never get to enjoy.” After they packed their luggage, they moved out of the dorm. Watching their retreating figures, I sneered. They were so naive. Did they really think such good fortune would fall to them?

I performed exceptionally well in my internship and received a job offer from that Fortune 500 company. This was the best opportunity someone with my qualifications could hope for. The company was far from home, so after discussing it with my parents, I decided to buy a house near the office. At the sales center, sales agent Daisy Walker showed me several properties. Suddenly, a familiar voice came from the entrance: “You better show us all your best houses right now.” I turned around and saw Carter strutting in with his arm around Phoebe, looking completely arrogant. When they spotted me, they immediately walked over to mock me. Carter said, “Arabella, what are you pretending to do here? Can you even afford a house? I’ve already looked into it—even if you sold those two houses of yours, you couldn’t cover the down payment on a downtown property.” Hearing his words, Daisy’s previously warm attitude toward me instantly turned cold. I shot back, “If I can’t afford it, then you can?” Phoebe lifted her chin smugly and said, “Of course. I won fifty million dollars in the lottery. I could buy several houses.” Daisy immediately rushed to their side, asking with a smile, “Miss, what can I help you with?” Phoebe raised her chin arrogantly and said, “I think that house looks pretty good.” Daisy got extremely excited and quickly introduced it: “Miss, you have excellent taste. This is the best-located unit in our development with the finest view. It’s definitely affordable for you—only twenty million dollars.” “Twenty million dollars?” Carter and Phoebe were stunned. They never imagined a 300-square-foot downtown apartment could be that ridiculously expensive. Daisy continued, “If you find it a bit pricey, you can choose installment payments.” Hearing this, Phoebe felt embarrassed but stubbornly said, “What installment payments? I already won fifty million dollars. I’m definitely buying it outright.” After hearing her words, Daisy became even more enthusiastic toward her. Daisy smiled and said, “If you like this unit, you can put down a one million dollar deposit first. If the lottery money hasn’t been deposited into your account yet, you can get a loan from the bank first.” Hearing Daisy’s words, Carter and Phoebe hesitated. At that moment, I frowned and said impatiently, “Now I’m starting to doubt whether you actually won fifty million dollars. Are you here just to cause trouble? If you can’t afford it, don’t waste our time—just leave.” Hearing my words, Carter’s eyes turned red with rage. He roared, “Stop talking nonsense! Phoebe definitely won fifty million dollars—she just hasn’t received the money yet.” I waved them off dismissively: “In that case, you should leave first. I’ll take this unit.” Hearing my words, both of them immediately panicked. Phoebe gritted her teeth and quickly said, “I want this unit. I’ll get a bank loan right away and pay the deposit.”

Over the next few days, Phoebe and Carter posted photos of their world travels on Instagram every day. The photos were filled with luxury items. I figured that besides their mortgage, they must have borrowed quite a bit of money. To destroy someone, first drive them crazy. They both sent me tons of photos separately. I blocked them both immediately. I’d been busy studying these past few days. Fortune 500 companies have extremely strict requirements. Even before officially starting work, my team leader had already sent me loads of materials, requiring me to master them as quickly as possible. On graduation party day, class president Phoebe posted in the group chat: “Everyone please arrive at the designated restaurant at 11:30 AM sharp for our graduation party.” After sending that message, she specifically private messaged me: “Arabella, you must come.” I immediately replied: “Okay.” Many people were asking why we had to go to this particular restaurant. It was quite far from school. Only I knew the reason. Because this restaurant was right next to that lottery store. At 11:30 AM, all the teachers and classmates had arrived. Then Phoebe, arm-in-arm with Carter, arrived fashionably late. As soon as they walked in, they drew everyone’s attention. The two of them had completely transformed, exuding luxury from head to toe. Phoebe gave gifts to every classmate in our class. She said with a smile: “Tonight everyone can order whatever they want – I’m covering all expenses.” Our classmates looked at them like they were crazy. Many even suspected the gifts she gave were knockoffs. Phoebe pulled out that lottery ticket from her bag and waved it smugly in front of everyone. She said: “I won fifty million dollars.” Hearing this, everyone present was shocked. One female classmate said: “Fifty million dollars?” A male classmate said: “Did I hear that right? Phoebe’s luck is that good?” Another female classmate said: “Oh my God! I could never earn fifty million dollars in my lifetime.” Not only that, Phoebe had even hung a large banner in the restaurant that read: “Celebrating Phoebe’s $50 Million Lottery Win.” At this point, a teacher asked: “The lottery ticket is in your hands, which means it hasn’t been drawn yet. So where did your money come from?” Phoebe said nonchalantly: “The money will be in my hands soon. I’m just enjoying it in advance.” Someone in the crowd suddenly asked: “Wasn’t Carter dating Arabella? How is he with Phoebe now?” Facing everyone’s confused looks, Carter showed no embarrassment and directly took Phoebe’s hand. He said: “People always pursue a better life, just like water flows downhill. After graduation, Arabella will just be an ordinary person working hard, but Phoebe is different. Besides, the person I truly love was always Phoebe.” His words left many people too stunned to speak. One classmate stood up to defend me: “But Arabella got an offer from a Fortune 500 company – that’s the best job in our class.” Hearing this, Phoebe laughed so hard she was almost in tears. She said: “So what if Arabella got the best job? Can she earn fifty million dollars in her lifetime? In today’s society, what good does finding a great job do? It only proves she’ll be doing hard work in a seemingly glamorous place, but actually living miserably.” Then she looked at me smugly and said: “Arabella, even though you’re not worthy, if you serve me well, maybe I’ll be charitable and throw you some scraps.” The others blushed at Phoebe’s words, but couldn’t bring themselves to argue back. At this point, some of the smarter classmates had already started sucking up to her. One female classmate said, “Phoebe, I always knew you’d make it big. I just never imagined you’d be so lucky as to win fifty million dollars. You can’t forget about us old classmates now.” A male classmate chimed in, “Exactly. You’ve got to help us out and give us some good opportunities too.” Deep down, they all knew that despite how harsh Phoebe’s words sounded, she had a point. Even if everyone present landed great jobs and worked their entire lives, earning fifty million dollars would be nearly impossible. Some even started putting me down to build her up. One male classmate said, “Phoebe’s absolutely right. So what if Arabella got an offer from a Fortune 500 company? She’ll still have to work herself to death. How can she even compare to Phoebe?” I just smiled. The truth was, that company had excellent benefits and compensation across the board. In her previous life, Phoebe had crashed and burned because she tried to seduce her boss right after joining the company. When the whole office found out, that’s why everyone gave her such a hard time. Finally, dinner ended and we reached the main event of the evening. Phoebe touched up her makeup and adjusted her designer outfit before stepping onto the stage. Just then, over a dozen livestreamers suddenly burst in carrying cameras. Phoebe nodded at them. Clearly, she’d planned this all along. Phoebe pulled the lottery ticket from her purse. Then, she smugly addressed the camera: “Dear viewers, I just graduated from college and won a fifty-million-dollar lottery ticket. From now on, I’ll never have to worry about money. I can live off the interest without working and travel the world. But you people will have to slave away at companies working for others. Not only will your salaries be low, but you’ll get bullied at work with no dignity, stuck living like that for the rest of your lives.” At this point, Phoebe deliberately looked in my direction. After hearing her words, viewers in the livestream chat were cursing her out non-stop. But Phoebe couldn’t care less. Instead, she suddenly pointed at me and arrogantly ordered me around. She said, “Arabella, the store where I bought this ticket is right next door. Go get the owner and have him come personally cash my ticket.” I didn’t respond, but Carter stepped forward and impatiently scolded me: “Arabella, are you deaf? What are you standing there for? Phoebe’s doing you a favor by asking you to go. With your current status, you’re not even worthy of serving Phoebe. If she asks you to do something for her, you should be grateful. If you serve Phoebe well, she might even tip you some money.” Some classmates couldn’t stand it anymore and started whispering behind us. One male classmate said, “Phoebe’s character doesn’t match her good fortune. After suddenly getting all this money, she won’t be able to hold onto it.” A female classmate said, “She’s supposed to be Arabella’s good friend, but she stole Arabella’s boyfriend. How can she have the nerve to boss Arabella around?” Seeing that I still wasn’t reacting, Phoebe threatened me viciously. She said, “Arabella, I suggest you wake up. Given the gap between us now, I could cause you serious damage with just a word. It’s that easy.” I just glanced coldly at the time and said, “Let’s wait another five minutes.” Phoebe had no idea what I was thinking. She let out a cold laugh and said, “Fine. Let’s wait another five minutes then. Let me tell you something, Arabella. Even if we wait another 50 minutes, you can’t change the fact that I won fifty million dollars.” I smirked coldly, thinking to myself: “We’ll see about that.” Just as Phoebe finished speaking, a middle-aged woman named Eliza Black came rushing into the restaurant from outside. She pointed at Phoebe on stage and shrieked, “Are you out of your mind? That lottery ticket is mine – I’m the one who won!”

  • I chose my cheating dad

After my father David Hamilton had an affair, he divorced my mother Ava Paterson. I didn’t choose Ava, who wanted nothing in the divorce, but instead chose David, who favored his illegitimate son. This was because after their divorce, I was killed twice by Ava, who was obsessed with romance novels. In my first life, Ava was willing to take nothing just to bring me with her, hoping David would appreciate her gesture. In the end, my heart condition relapsed, and without money for treatment, I died in agony on a hospital bed. In my second life, despite Ava’s objections, I asked David for surgery money in advance. However, to make David pursue her, Ava insisted on forcing me to go bungee jumping right before my surgery. To stop me from jumping, David drove at high speed and ultimately died in a car crash. Ava blamed everything on me and pushed me off a cliff in hatred. She said, “You useless waste! Not only can’t you help me win your father back, but you got him killed too. You should die as well.” In that moment, I finally understood that Ava didn’t love me at all. She only saw me as a tool to win David back. When I opened my eyes again, I had returned for the third time to the day Ava wanted to divorce David. Ava said coldly, “David, since your lover has returned from abroad, I’ll make it easy for you. Let’s get divorced. We’ll go to court tomorrow.” Just like in my previous lives, Ava didn’t give David any chance to explain and directly pulled out a divorce agreement. Because of David’s first love Sienna Miller, Ava had threatened divorce countless times. Every time, David would apologize first. But this time, an exhausted David didn’t compromise anymore. Instead, he picked up the pen and decisively signed his name. He said, “Ava, I’ll grant your wish.” Hearing David’s words, Ava became furious. But she stubbornly said, “I don’t care about the Hamilton family fortune. As long as you give me Hallie, I won’t take any property in the divorce.” Hallie Hamilton is my name. David frowned slightly and looked at me. He said, “Hallie, we’re getting divorced. Do you want to live with me or with your mother?” Suddenly being called upon, I looked at their hopeful gazes and realized I had been reborn. In my first life, during their divorce, Ava brainwashed me to prove she was the person who loved me most in this world. She said, “Hallie, once your father has a stepmother, he won’t love you anymore. If you choose your father, that evil mistress will definitely bully you to death. Only I truly love you. As long as you live with me, your father will definitely come begging for reconciliation.” To make them get back together, I chose Ava without hesitation. However, Ava was deeply influenced by the toxic messages in romance novels. To make David see her as an independent, strong woman, she insisted on taking no property in the divorce. Without money or a job, she brought me into a life filled with hunger. Finally, when my heart condition relapsed and I was lying on a hospital bed, I begged Ava to ask David for surgery money. But she angrily accused me of being spineless. Ava said, “Your father and I are already divorced. We may be poor, but we have dignity. How could I have given birth to such a useless, ungrateful person? Would you sell my self-respect for this little bit of money?” In the end, I died in agony on that hospital bed. Pitifully, I believed everything Ava said was right until my death. So in my second life, I still chose Ava. But I asked David for surgery money and living expenses for us mother and daughter in advance. Ava scolded me, calling me greedy. But she still put the bank card David gave us into her pocket. However, I didn’t expect that the day before my heart transplant surgery, Ava suddenly learned that David was attending a parent-teacher conference for Sienna’s son Elliot Miller. She became extremely jealous and brainwashed me again. Ava said, “Hallie, whether your father and I can reconcile depends entirely on your performance this time.” I chose to believe her once again. But Ava pushed me onto the bungee jumping platform and sent photos to David. She also sent David a message: [David, you know Hallie has a heart condition, right? She’s about to bungee jump because of you. Are you going to do something about it? If you can’t get here within an hour, she’s going to jump.] After receiving the message, David immediately drove over. However, they got into a car accident on the way. In the end, he died in the flames along with Sienna and Elliot. As a result, Ava blamed everything on me. She unfastened my safety harness and mercilessly pushed me into the abyss. Ava roared, “If it weren’t for you, how would your father have died? You useless waste! Not only can’t you help me win your father back, but you got him killed too. You should die as well.” Looking at her twisted expression, I finally understood that she had no maternal feelings for me whatsoever and had been using me from beginning to end. Even if she had, my tragic deaths in these two lives were enough to repay any debt of birth and upbringing. So in this life, I looked at David and firmly took his hand. I said, “Dad, I want to live with you.”

David squeezed my hand reassuringly and said, “Hallie, I promise I’ll give you the best life possible.” Ava couldn’t believe I had suddenly changed my choice. Before the divorce, Ava and I had already agreed—regardless of whether David consented to the divorce or not, as her daughter, I would unconditionally choose to go with Ava. But Ava didn’t know that I had been reborn with memories from my previous life. The father-daughter bond that David and I were displaying made Ava extremely uncomfortable. She pointed at me and yelled, “Hallie, tell me—what spell did your father and that woman cast on you? I gave birth to you! Why would you choose your father? Do you have any idea how much I’ve sacrificed all these years to raise you? I was willing to give up all the assets just to take you away so that woman and her son wouldn’t bully you. How can you be so heartless?” I stared coldly into her eyes, completely unaffected by her words. I had heard this kind of emotional manipulation countless times before. Whenever Ava needed me to lie and trick David into coming home, she would say these things. After lying so many times for so long, David eventually stopped falling for it. At the same time, Ava would force me to hurt myself to get David’s attention. Even now, thinking back to those days when she had me under her psychological control still makes me shudder. Seeing that I wasn’t responding to her, Ava turned her attack on David: “I can guarantee that after our divorce, I won’t remarry—no one will bully Hallie. Can you guarantee the same?” Just as David was about to speak, I quickly rolled up my sleeve and let two tears fall: “Daddy, I just want to live with you. Please don’t abandon me. Every time you’re not home, Mom forces me to cut myself with a knife. If I live with Mom, I’ll die.” Seeing the scar after scar on my arm, David’s eyes immediately turned red. He pulled me into his arms and glared fiercely at Ava. David roared, “Ava, how could you be so vicious—even your own daughter isn’t safe from you! You want a divorce? Then get out of Hamilton Villa right now!” In Ava’s plan, taking me with her during the divorce was step one. The scars on my arm were step two—she planned to use them to make David remarry her for my sake. But now, I had exposed everything. Ava finally panicked: “Hallie, you heartless, ungrateful child! I wasted my time giving birth to you. I’m packing my things and leaving Hamilton Villa right now. You two better not regret this.” With that, Ava rushed upstairs. An hour later, she came down carrying two suitcases toward the door. I grabbed her diamond-studded designer suitcase and said, “Mom, didn’t you say you’d leave without taking any assets? Why are you taking Dad’s million-dollar suitcase?” The suitcase fell to the ground, revealing various expensive bags and jewelry inside. I continued, “Mom, surely you’re not that spineless? You said you wanted a divorce to be an independent, strong woman, but you’re taking all the designer bags and jewelry Dad gave you.” Ava gritted her teeth and let go of both suitcases, looking at me with contempt: “Who wants these worthless things? When that homewrecker brings her bastard son to bully you, don’t come crying to me.” Watching her walk away with such flair, I knew Ava was already fantasizing about the scene where David and I would regret our decision and beg her to come back. But this time, her dream was destined to be shattered.

After Ava left, David carefully applied ointment to my arm. His eyes were red and filled with guilt. “Hallie, this is all my fault. I’ve been so busy with work that I neglected you.” Seeing him like this broke my heart too. In my previous life, I had been brainwashed by Ava into believing David was a cheating, biased man who favored his illegitimate son. It wasn’t until I watched David die on the highway trying to save me that I realized he was the person who loved me most in this world. Just as I was about to comfort David, his phone suddenly rang. He glanced at the caller ID, his expression darkening as he hung up immediately. The phone rang again right away. I caught a glimpse and saw it was Sienna calling. I quickly said, “Dad, that’s Ms. Miller calling, isn’t it? She must have something urgent. You should answer it.” David looked surprised at my words. In the past, whenever anything involved Sienna, I would react with the same disgust and anger as Ava. That was because I had always believed Sienna was the homewrecker who caused their divorce. But in reality, among the three of them, Ava was the real homewrecker. Sienna and David had grown up together and were already at the point of discussing marriage. But Ava had harbored a secret crush on David for years and was desperate enough to drug him just to marry him. Considering the business partnership between their families, plus the fact that Ava was pregnant with me, David’s parents forced him to marry Ava. Sienna was heartbroken and went abroad immediately. When Sienna returned recently, David learned that she had been pregnant with Elliot even before they broke up years ago. But even so, their only contact was because of Elliot, and they never crossed any boundaries. However, Ava, influenced by novels, believed Sienna had returned with Elliot to steal David away, so she struck first and orchestrated everything. In the end, I watched helplessly as Sienna and my half-brother died on their way to find me. Only then did I realize they had never intended to take David away from us, and they even lost their lives because of it. So I continued urging David, “Dad, I can tell right from wrong. Please answer the phone.” When the call connected, Sienna’s anxious voice came through. She said, “David, Elliot collapsed from anemia again. He needs your blood now.” Both Elliot and I inherited David’s rare blood type. If it weren’t so difficult to find compatible donors for Elliot, I doubt Sienna would have ever returned to the country. Because I insisted, David brought me along to the hospital. After Elliot was out of danger, Sienna breathed a sigh of relief. Seeing me, she touched my head and promised, “Hallie, thank you for coming with your father. I promise you, I will never interfere with your parents’ relationship.” I said nonchalantly, “Ms. Miller, my dad and mom are already divorced.” Before I could finish speaking, someone suddenly rushed over. Then a vicious slap landed across my face. I looked up to see Ava’s murderous expression. Ava roared, “I was wondering why you suddenly betrayed me. Turns out Sienna bought you off. “You couldn’t wait to tell her about my divorce from your father, could you? Do you want her to be your mother? “You’re just like those ungrateful daughters in novels—completely heartless. You deserve to never receive a mother’s love!” Seeing my swollen cheek, Sienna immediately stepped in front of me protectively. She said, “Ava, have you lost your mind? Your daughter has never betrayed you, and she never asked me to be her mother.” But to Ava, Sienna’s explanation sounded like gloating over her victory. Ava let out a cold laugh and retorted, “I’ve seen plenty of women like you in novels—acting all pure and innocent on the surface while scheming underneath. You came back to the country with your illegitimate child just to steal David from me, didn’t you? You think this ungrateful father-daughter duo is sucking up to you now? Mark my words—within three months, they’ll be begging me to forgive them and come back.” With that, Ava turned and walked away with a flourish. Sienna ignored her words. She crouched down and carefully examined the wound on my face. Sienna said, “Hallie, I’m so sorry. This is all my fault. Does it hurt? Let me take you to see a doctor, okay?” I shook my head dismissively. This slap was nothing compared to the pain I’d endured in my previous two lives. However, Ava’s revenge obviously wouldn’t stop at just one slap. Soon enough, she mimicked the independent, strong female protagonists from novels and adopted a little girl about my age from an orphanage. She named this girl Ella Paterson and managed to get Ella placed in my class. Under Ava’s direction, Ella frequently bullied me in class. Knowing that Ava no longer wanted me, other classmates constantly mocked me with cruel words, trying to humiliate me. Once, my teacher Sofia Kerr called Ava right in front of me. Ava laughed coldly with obvious satisfaction, “Ms. Kerr, Hallie’s father and I are divorced now. I’m no longer her mother. From now on, whether she has a heart attack or gets into trouble, please don’t call me anymore. By the way, my daughter now is Ella, and she’s so much better than that ungrateful Hallie.” Ava thought these words would hurt me. But I simply snatched Sofia’s phone away. Then I said coldly, “Ms. Paterson, Ella broke the phone watch that Ms. Miller bought me, worth $30,000. Please compensate me immediately.” The title “Ms. Paterson” hit Ava like a sledgehammer, causing her to break down emotionally on the spot. She said, “You really only care about money! That woman just bought you a phone watch, and that’s worth abandoning your own mother? All these years, you’ve eaten my food and lived under my roof, and I haven’t asked you for money. How dare you ask me for money?” In the end, nothing came of this incident. But the next day, I spotted a more expensive children’s phone watch on Ella’s wrist. Even during the school’s parent-child activity, Ava deliberately wore designer clothes and happily showed up with her childhood friend Grayson Bell and Ella, who was also dressed in an expensive princess dress. The three of them looked loving and affectionate, like a real family of three. Seeing me all alone, Ava hugged Ella and mocked me. She said, “Hallie, where’s your father? And where’s your Ms. Miller? Why didn’t they come with you to the parent-child activity? Don’t you know yet? Your father is out having fun with Ms. Miller and your half-brother right now. Let me tell you, even if you regret it now, it’s too late. From the moment you chose to betray me, I stopped wanting you.” Seeing that I remained silent, Ava leaned close to my ear and continued, “By the way, even if your father begs me to remarry him, I won’t want an ungrateful person like you anymore.” Clearly, she was still dreaming about David begging her to remarry him. Just then, David’s voice rang out, “Ava, what are you trying to do to Hallie?” He ran over anxiously from a distance, followed by Sienna and Elliot. As soon as she saw David, Ava deliberately linked arms with Grayson to provoke David, saying, “David, you don’t know yet, do you? Grayson has already proposed to me.” David glanced at their odd pairing and frowned slightly. Thinking David was jealous, Ava smiled smugly, “But if you’re willing to beg me to come back, I would still…” Before she could finish her sentence, I pulled out a marriage certificate from David’s briefcase. I said, “Ms. Paterson, Dad and I both wish you and Mr. Bell well. Because Dad has already gotten a marriage certificate with Ms. Miller.”

  • Passionate Nights with the Ice-Cold Campus Heartthrob

I Bought a Mystery Box for Fun, But It Turned My Life Upside Down I impulsively bought an expensive mystery box just for fun. To my disappointment, I only got a black collar. Frustrated, I was about to leave a bad review for the seller when I suddenly realized that my actual package was still in transit. Suddenly, the classroom door burst open. “Don’t touch my package!” Lucas, the campus heartthrob, rushed in and tried to snatch the package from my hands. “Put it down!” I shouted angrily. Lucas’s body trembled, and he stumbled backward, almost falling to the ground. Instinctively, I grabbed his hand to steady him. However, I pulled too hard, and Lucas crashed into me. My hand accidentally touched his firm backside. Damn! So perky and bouncy! Lucas pushed me away abruptly, his face turning red. He glared at me, biting his lip in a way that made my heart race. But I quickly came to my senses. He was Lucas, the untouchable golden boy of our school. Rich family, decisive personality, every girl’s dream guy. I was just a student from an ordinary background, with my only claim to fame being my identity as a cosplayer. He was someone I couldn’t afford to offend. I fingered the collar in my hand and looked at him playfully. “This is…” His face turned bright red, and his eyes darted around. He snatched the collar from my hand. “It’s for my dog.” I raised an eyebrow. “Really? What kind of dog? This collar seems too big.” “My Poodle has a thick neck,” he explained hastily, gesturing around his own neck. So, he was into the same kind of thing as me. I licked my lips, a determined smile crossing my face.

How adorable. He could have said nothing, but instead, he exposed his true nature. What an innocent puppy. But I didn’t intend to call him out. I just silently watched as Lucas hurriedly grabbed the leash from the package as well. As I watched his retreating figure, I glanced at the discount coupon left in the box and chuckled, “Don’t you want your cashback?” He rushed back to snatch the coupon, his face turning an even deeper shade of red, completely unlike his usual cool demeanor. Seeing his flustered state, I decided not to tease him further and handed him the coupon, complaining, “Geez, these discount coupons are so ridiculous nowadays.” Just as I was about to leave, his cold fingertips brushed against my palm. The sensation was like an electric current running through my heart, making me shudder. I clearly saw Lucas’s Adam’s apple bob up and down, and faint red marks were visible on his fair neck. I couldn’t help but swallow hard. “Anything else, Lucas?” I asked. He narrowed his eyes, blocking the light from the window, exuding a dangerous aura. “Do you know how to use it?” I licked my lips, sensing this might be a test from Lucas. “I used to, but not since my dog ran away,” I replied. Lucas stared at me for a moment before taking a few steps back. “Keep this a secret. The school doesn’t allow pets.” Watching his calm departure, I raised an eyebrow, wondering if I had misjudged his preferences. Still, knowing his secret could be useful. It might help me get his assistance with my graduation thesis later on.

A few days later, I saw him in the lab, soaking wet from head to toe. He was scolding my younger brother, Jack. Through his wet clothes, I could clearly see his milky white skin, slightly defined abs, and cute little marks on his chest. Perhaps my gaze was too intense, as he frowned and looked in my direction. He seemed to remember something, and the tips of his ears turned red. Jack, upon seeing me, tried to hide behind me. But I didn’t want to reveal that I had such an embarrassing brother. “Shut up!” I snapped. The lab fell silent. Jack gave me a resentful look and reached for the experimental materials on my desk. “Put that back and get over here! Are you asking for trouble?” I tapped the desk, my tone unconsciously becoming harsher. “Thud—” A loud noise drew my attention. I looked up to see Lucas kneeling on the ground, picking up papers, the tips of his ears bright red. My heart leaped with joy, and I was about to approach him, but he quickly grabbed his backpack and hurried away. Since we weren’t in the same group, I asked Jack for Lucas’s contact information. To my surprise, Jack told me that Lucas had already added me after seeing my cosplay photos as Yan Yu from “Love at First Sight.” I was secretly delighted and sent him a message apologizing for startling him earlier, actually hoping to gauge his reaction. To my disappointment, he flatly refused. I felt frustrated by my own clumsiness in scaring him off. Unexpectedly, when our advisor invited us out for dinner, I ran into Lucas, who had claimed to be sick at home. His cheeks were flushed, and his eyes were hazy, clearly having had a bit too much to drink.

I didn’t want to bother with him, but my friend called me over. As I approached, I saw Lucas skillfully mixing drinks. With his expressionless face and tightly buttoned shirt, he was the epitome of restrained allure. My friend teased, looking at him, “Lily, do you think someone so perfect might have any weaknesses?” The other students around us started joking, “What, are you planning to blackmail the handsome guy with his secrets?” My friend glared at them before turning back to me. Lucas was also staring at me intently. Considering his prominent family background, I decided to play it safe. “I don’t know him well enough to say,” I avoided his gaze, looking down at my glass, feeling inexplicably dejected. Suddenly, a drink was placed in front of me. Remembering that this cocktail contained raw egg white, I felt a wave of nausea. My friend quietly asked why I wasn’t drinking. “It’s disgusting, makes me sick,” I said, only realizing how it sounded after the words left my mouth. I looked up to see Lucas’s face turn pale. I wanted to explain, but before I could open my mouth, he excused himself, claiming to feel unwell. After the meal, when everyone else had left and I was about to head home, I suddenly heard soft crying. I walked over to find Lucas crouching on the ground, sobbing quietly. His face was still flushed from the alcohol, his entire face rosy, with tears hanging from his eyes. He looked like an abandoned puppy, gazing at me with such a pitiful expression. “Will you be my mistress?” he asked abruptly. His sudden frankness caught me off guard. Before I could answer, he curled up like a snail retreating into its shell and started muttering to himself. “I knew you’d be disgusted by me too. I disgust myself, but I just can’t control it…”

He clutched his hair tightly, whimpering like a helpless puppy without shelter. It was a complete contrast to his usual demeanor, and I couldn’t help but reach out to pat him. The soft strands of his hair made my heart melt. His body suddenly trembled, and he looked up at me, his eyes still misty. I knew he had misunderstood, but I didn’t want to explain too much. In a similar situation before, I had been tricked and even recorded, so I decided to be more cautious this time. Although I did have feelings for him, I decided to test the waters first. There were always fake dominants in the scene, and I was afraid of falling into another trap. I slowly asked, “Why do you have those kinds of thoughts about me?” His voice was still hoarse as he stammered out his reason, “From the first time I saw you, I thought you were like the sun, so bright and brave. You dared to stand up to your parents and live freely.” He sniffled and nuzzled against my hand, smiling bitterly, “I’m perverted, aren’t I?” I suddenly felt that he was very similar to me. It was because of my parents’ lack of understanding that I had a huge fight with them, and even faced repeated attacks from relatives around me, falling into self-doubt over and over again. My nose tingled with emotion as I ruffled his hair, looking at him seriously, as if I was looking at my past confused self. “Humans are all perverts to some degree, otherwise where would the Seven Deadly Sins come from?” His eyes immediately lit up, and he nodded vigorously, looking at me cautiously, “Can you accept me? I know you’re in the scene too.” I withdrew my hand, shrinking my neck and touching my nose. “We’ll see how you behave.” In truth, it wasn’t that I couldn’t accept him, but I wanted to test his sincerity. He immediately jumped up excitedly and knelt before me. “Mistress, do you want to play a game?” I shook my head, refusing him. It wasn’t the right time yet; I needed to make sure he wouldn’t pose a threat to me before making a move. After all, in my years in the scene, I knew the negative impact an unruly sub could have on their dominant. Before leaving, I smiled and told him to call me “sister” from now on. Even though I was younger than him, I preferred being called “sister.” He nodded and softly called me “sister.” His sweet voice made me feel a little tipsy, and I gently kissed his forehead.

The next day when we met again, I saw him helping a senior girl fix a printer. A feeling of possessiveness washed over me, uncomfortable with someone else monopolizing what I considered mine. I decided to send him a message and wait for him in the break room. Time ticked by slowly, and just when I thought he wouldn’t come, he burst into the room. Due to his rush, his cheeks were flushed, his hair half-dry, clearly just out of the shower. He smelled faintly of camellia. I sat with my legs crossed, surveying the nervous Lucas in front of me. “I’m sorry, I wanted to make a good impression on you, sister,” he said. I stood up, and although I was displeased with his tardiness, I didn’t show it. I handed him a blindfold, my voice calm, “Put this on.” Seeing him obey without question, my mood improved. I grabbed his tie and led him to the full-length mirror. He stumbled along, as if I were his only support. I enjoyed this feeling of being in control. I stroked the black mole under his left ear and gently bit it. His body shuddered violently, his face turning bright red. He moved his lips as if to speak. I lightly touched his lips, chuckling, “Be good. Stand still and count to five minutes silently. This is your punishment for flirting with others!” He shook his head, “I didn’t…” “You’re being naughty!” He immediately fell silent. But I couldn’t let him off so easily. I ran my hand down his abs, and his body instantly stiffened.

  • The Empire’s Cold War God Cries Beneath Me: ‘I Only Want You’

I used to be the Empire’s strongest Alpha general. To avoid scaring my sweet little puppy, I desperately hid my true identity, pretending to be gentle and kind in front of him. Until one night, I saw him twist his slender waist and effortlessly climb onto an enemy’s back. With a flick of his wrist, the man was dead. That familiar figure made me instantly recognize him as the enemy general I had been fighting for so long. I was stunned. Injured, I tried to escape on the spot. But to my surprise, he clung to me, his fingers teasing my waist. “Babe, I’m already pregnant. Are you really going to abandon your wife and child?” As soon as I entered the room, a rich milky scent overwhelmed me. I stared at the man I had just rescued lying on the bed. His cheeks were flushed, and his eyes gazed at me dreamily. He was a poor little thing I had picked up at a nightclub. Seeing him being bullied, I had my subordinate arrange a hotel room for him and give him suppressants. I don’t know if my subordinate misunderstood my instructions or was distracted by urgent matters, but they left him alone in the room. As I approached, he grabbed my arm, tears welling up in his eyes. His fluffy hair nuzzled against my chest, exposing his delicate neck. “Please, help me,” he begged, his voice soft and tearful. Combined with the rich milky scent, it was hard for me to control myself. I resisted the rising heat and pushed him away, “Didn’t you take the suppressants?” Although this poor Omega was now begging me to mark him, it was just the instinct of all Omegas in heat. I didn’t want to take advantage of someone in a vulnerable state. He opened his hazy eyes, the corners slightly red, and reached out to hook my neck again, his grip surprisingly strong. “No, I couldn’t find them. Babe, I only want you. Please.” I took a deep breath and gripped his chin, “Are you sure?” He frowned, whimpering constantly as if in pain, and wrapped his arms around me, rubbing against me restlessly. I chuckled and pulled out a bunch of suppressants from under the pillow. “Aren’t these right here?” His face paled, a flash of panic crossing his features. He fidgeted with the hem of his shirt and bit his lip, looking at me. “I only want you, babe.” Tsk, tsk. What a cunning little cat. But I didn’t mind. Having gotten my answer, I didn’t hesitate to bite down on his delicate neck. The taste was indeed as delicious as I had imagined. He cried out in pain, clutching my collar tightly, staring at me in a daze as tears rolled down his cheeks. “Amelia, I like you.” My heart skipped a beat, the heat in my body rapidly subsiding. I immediately pulled away from him and swiftly pinched his pressure point. I knew very well that without my permission, my subordinates wouldn’t casually reveal my name, and I hadn’t exposed my identity just now. “Sweetheart, what did you just say?” I watched him warily, trying to search my memory for this face. But I couldn’t recall ever seeing him before. As if frightened, his face paled slightly. “Isn’t Amelia your name?” He pointed to my lighter that had fallen nearby. Indeed, my name was engraved on it. It was my habit to mark all my belongings. I felt slightly relieved, but still suspicious. My hand traced from his arm to his fragile scent gland, pressing lightly. I could destroy it at the slightest sign of danger. His body trembled, but instead of shrinking away as I expected, he moved closer, seemingly without any defense against me. I narrowed my eyes, caressing his vulnerable scent gland. He looked up at me, his eyes red-rimmed and glistening with tears. Soft moans escaped his lips. “Babe, my pheromones really like you.” “And what about you?” I chuckled, my fingers lifting his shirt inch by inch until I was sure there were no dangerous items on his body. “I like you too.” The tips of his ears turned red as he pressed his chest closer to my hand. I smirked and indulged myself without hesitation. He responded as I wished, crying beneath me. But lost in this blissful moment, I failed to notice the triumphant smile on his face.

Early the next morning, after tucking him in and wiping away the tears from the corners of his eyes, I headed to the military headquarters. My subordinate handed me the information they had gathered about him. This man called Ethan had a simple background – just an orphan struggling to survive in society. I smiled, guessing that Ethan might be following me for money. But I didn’t mind. After all, I had marked him. He couldn’t escape even if he wanted to. He was destined to be mine for life. “General, I still think we can’t keep this person,” my subordinate suddenly spoke up. I shook my head, indicating that I didn’t mind even if he came for money. The subordinate hesitated for a moment, then handed me a photo. “Ethan bears some resemblance to that masked general. I suspect he might be here to steal our military secrets.” The photo showed the side profile of the enemy general after removing his mask. Although the image was blurry, there was indeed a resemblance to Ethan. In an instant, I became alert and rushed back to the hotel. The moment I opened the door, I was stunned. Ethan’s fair skin was exposed, wrapped in red rope that snaked up to a bow at his neck. He wore fluffy cat ear accessories on his head and was kneeling on the bed, his pristine thighs on display. Perhaps due to embarrassment, his fair skin had taken on a faint reddish hue, incredibly alluring. He kept his head lowered, his eyelashes fluttering, the tips of his ears red. He didn’t dare look at me. “Babe, I’ll be very good. Please don’t abandon me.” His voice was timid, with a hint of tears. I hugged him tightly but didn’t rush to untie the bow. Instead, I caressed his fingers. His fingers were beautiful – slender and fair, with a thin layer of calluses between them. Not like someone who often handles guns. “Babe, what’s wrong?” Ethan tilted his head, looking at me with a blushing face, as if he didn’t know what I was doing. I traced from his fingers to his arm, gripping his joint tightly. My teeth grazed his scent gland. “I really want to dislocate all your joints, so you can only lie in bed at my mercy.” I figured that if he really was the enemy general, he would have lashed out by now, given how much I was provoking him. But Ethan only breathed heavily for a moment, his heartbeat quickening slightly. The pheromones he emitted remained gentle, without a trace of fear or anger. “As long as you’re willing, I’ll be your plaything,” Ethan licked his lips, his voice tinged with excitement. Feeling the changes in his body, I chuckled and bit down hard on his scent gland, mumbling, “You’re quite the pervert.” Ethan let out a soft moan, seemingly accepting this label. His body trembled as he panted heavily, “Help me, babe.” I untied the rope, staring at the red marks left by the tight binding, and pressed down hard on them. Tears immediately welled up in Ethan’s eyes. He grabbed my hand, his voice hoarse, sounding both pleading and delighted, “It hurts.”

  • Payback Time: The Successful CEO Who Backstabbed Me Gets His Due

When I rescued young entrepreneur Adrian Pierce from his creditors, he was in a complete mess. But it was nothing compared to how devastated I was when he ruined my family years ago. I pinned his hands behind his back against the floor-to-ceiling window of the hotel room, shattering his pride mercilessly. He cried, saying he hated me. “Hate me then,” I whispered, kissing away the tears rolling down his cheeks, as gentle as a loving partner. The Venetian Grand Hotel. Looking down from the presidential suite’s window, the streets were bustling with traffic. The streetlights below had come on, resembling a string of golden jewels winding through the vast cityscape shrouded in darkness. In the distance, neon lights reflected on the face of the man by the window, flickering like cheap makeup, both eerie and gaudy. Adrian Pierce’s face was pressed against the glass, his hands tied behind his back, half-kneeling in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, occasionally letting out a whimper. When I had brought Adrian here, he had struggled fiercely, earning himself a few punches and kicks. His expensive suit was now torn in several places. Standing behind him, I admired his disheveled state for a moment before chuckling and removing the gag from his mouth. “Does Mr. Pierce have anything to say?” I asked mockingly. As air finally rushed into his mouth, Adrian gasped for breath but still tried to put on a brave face. “You… aren’t you afraid I’ll call the police?” I laughed softly as if I’d heard a good joke. “If you dared to call the police, why have you been hiding for so long?” I leaned in close to his ear and whispered, “You can try calling them. Let’s see who gets locked up first – me, or you being torn to pieces by your creditors.” My hot breath tickled Adrian’s ear as I spoke lazily. I saw him trying to dodge away, his skin behind the ear trembling. “What do you want from me?” Adrian asked, both confused and wary. I clicked my tongue twice, feigning a grieved tone. “Mr. Pierce, why put it so harshly? This isn’t ‘kidnapping’. I merely invited you for a reunion. It’s been many years since we last met, hasn’t it, Uncle Adrian?” I deliberately dragged out the words “Uncle Adrian,” putting on a nostalgic expression. Hearing these words, Adrian’s heart skipped a beat. He thought to himself, “So it’s finally come to this.” He tried to steady himself and softened his tone, “Lily, what happened back then… I didn’t expect things to turn out that way. But… the money I’ve been sending over these years was for your education. Seeing you doing well now, Uncle Adrian… can finally feel at ease.” Lily was my childhood nickname. Years ago, when Adrian worked for my father, he would occasionally see me visit and call me by this name with a smile, secretly slipping chocolates I loved into my little backpack. The gentle and refined Uncle Adrian appeared in my teenage years like a ray of sunlight in a forest, fulfilling all my fantasies about the word “beautiful.” And now I saw this beam of light kneeling in a patch of shadow, struggling to keep his back straight, trying to maintain some composure. “Didn’t expect…” I repeated softly, a smile curling at the corners of my mouth. “After my father went bankrupt, he ended up in a psychiatric hospital. My mother remarried, taking my younger brother with her, leaving 14-year-old me alone in a boarding school in America. Your ‘didn’t expect’ certainly absolves you of all responsibility, doesn’t it, Uncle Adrian?” Adrian was momentarily speechless. “But don’t worry, I’m not here for revenge,” I said, taking out a wine glass and slowly pouring some red wine. “I haven’t touched a cent of the money you sent. Just now, I used it to pay off part of your debts. As for the rest, there’s no rush. After all, there are still ten days until the deadline on the promissory note you signed for your creditors.” This confused Adrian even more. He tried to turn his head, pressing against the glass, wanting to read something from my expression. But constrained by the ropes, he could only turn half his body towards me. “You paid my debts? Why?” “I want to make a deal with you, Mr. Pierce.” “What kind of deal?” I didn’t rush to answer. Instead, I picked up the wine glass, took a small sip, then crouched down, smiling as I looked at Adrian. My gaze traveled from his long legs, narrow waist, the hint of collarbone peeking out from his shirt collar, his sexy Adam’s apple, and finally settled on his thin lips. Then, to his astonishment, I kissed him. Our lips and teeth intertwined in a passionate dance. Dark red wine trickled down the corners of our tightly pressed mouths, flowing over Adrian’s fair chin and neck, disappearing into the depths of his shirt. When the kiss ended, we were both breathless.

  • When the Zombie Virus Struck, I Watched My Parents Turn – Now I’m the Lone Survivor

When the zombie virus outbreak began, everyone in my family except me fell victim to it. I watched helplessly as my parents succumbed to the infection, becoming mindless walking corpses joining the zombie horde. Unwilling to abandon my only remaining family member, I made the decision to keep my zombie brother. 0 My brother had turned into a zombie. I couldn’t bring myself to kill him. So, I locked him in a room, like keeping a rabid beast. On my brother’s 18th birthday, my parents had taken him on a two-week trip abroad, splurging on the celebration. I was too busy with work to join them on the vacation. It wasn’t until the third day after they returned— A new virus outbreak was reported overseas. I panicked. I remembered my brother mentioning they had indulged in various exotic local delicacies. The ingredients were rare deep-sea creatures rarely seen. I had scolded him at the time: “Reject wild game, protect nature.” Little did I know, disaster would strike so soon. On the fifth day after their return— Late at night, I heard shuffling footsteps in the living room. I turned on the light to see my mother, blood streaming from her eyes, dark tears flowing down her cheeks and into her mouth. I let out a terrified scream. Mother’s voice sounded like a demonic chant, “Run… quickly…” Her gait was extremely twisted. “Sophia… run quickly…” Mother’s eerily quiet voice was unnaturally clear in the silent living room, sending chills down my spine. “Mom, don’t be afraid! I’ll call an ambulance right away!” I ran back to my room, trembling, to find my phone. Roar— A strange cry rang out! I suddenly turned around. Father emerged from the pitch-black room, his gray pupils like two hollow sockets. Tears streamed down my face in terror: “Dad?” He lunged at me with claws outstretched, his bluish fingernails still stained with clots of blood. I was so frightened my legs went weak. I stood rooted to the spot, my limbs stiff and immobile. Just as Father’s sharp fingers were about to grab me. Mother suddenly rushed over, biting Father’s shoulder and tightly gripping his body as she charged onto the balcony. I heard the sounds of a fierce struggle. They were howling like wild beasts. Soon. The endless night fell silent once more. I peeked out to see the empty balcony, windows wide open, chaos everywhere. A cold breeze brushed my face, the air permeated with the stench of putrid blood. 0

By dawn, the zombie outbreak was in full swing. I huddled on the couch, watching the news reports from various regions on TV. [A new virus suddenly erupted last night. The infected develop symptoms rapidly, including loss of bodily control and biting or scratching others. Once infected, there is no cure.] [The entire city is now under emergency containment. Any infected individuals found will be dealt with on the spot. We urge all residents to stay indoors, take precautions, and await rescue.] [There are still many mysteries surrounding the new virus. Medical experts are working around the clock to develop countermeasures and rescue plans, which will be announced to the public as soon as possible.] [Based on current information, the zombie virus is transmitted through bite wounds and scratches. Zombies are extremely sensitive to sound but lack cognitive abilities. We urge residents to remain as quiet as possible.] Still in shock, I walked to the balcony and looked down— Outside was a scene of apocalyptic devastation. My mother and father had already joined the zombie horde. They walked with a stiff, twisted gait, their limbs rigid. “Sis…” A hoarse voice plunged me back into the depths of fear. I turned to see my brother stumbling out of his bedroom, the door now open. His skin was starting to turn blue, his black pupils covered by a grayish fog. “Don’t come any closer! Go back!” I grabbed a mop handle, assuming a defensive stance. “Lucas, be a good boy and go back to your room. I won’t hurt you!” My brother’s footsteps halted. He opened his mouth, struggling to form words, “Mom… Dad… are they okay?” I didn’t dare get too close. “They’ve both turned into zombies. It’s just the two of us left in the family now. As long as you behave, I won’t abandon you.” My brother lifted his head, black tears streaming from his eyes. He wailed in agony, retreating step by step. When he was fully back in the room, I rushed over to close the door, lock it, and remove the key. I knew my brother would soon lose his mind completely, becoming a mindless walking corpse. To kill my own brother with my own hands – my only remaining family in this apocalypse. I couldn’t do it. So I made a bold decision: to keep a pet zombie. 0

Ten days after the virus outbreak— All cities had fallen. Zombies ran rampant. Corpses littered the streets. As the first city to discover zombies, ours had long since become a ghost town devoid of human life. An eerie silence pervaded everything. Zombies wandered aimlessly along the roads, stumbling as they walked. Occasionally a patrol helicopter would fly overhead, its thunderous roar filling the air. The zombie hordes would immediately chase after the helicopter’s direction, running in a frenzy. I watched as our food supplies dwindled, lost in thought. If things continued like this, I’d starve to death before getting bitten by zombies. I decided to discuss strategy with my zombie brother. I took out the key, opened the bedroom door a crack. I quickly tossed in a piece of raw pork. I had to keep my brother fed, otherwise if he lost control and bit me, it would be all over. “Lucas, I have a task for you,” I coaxed him like a child, carefully negotiating. My brother wolfed down the meat, his bluish face still smeared with crimson blood. A door separated us, him inside and me outside. “There’s a Walmart superstore downstairs. I don’t know how much food is left, but go grab whatever you can find. The more the better. Preferably instant foods with long shelf lives.” “Also power banks – it’s been 10 days since the zombie outbreak, so power banks should still work. Grab several if you can. In case the electricity goes out, we can use them for emergencies.” “And drones, the kind that can be remotely controlled. With one of those, we can see what’s happening outside and avoid danger if needed.” “The water supply station is on the ground floor next door. There should be stockpiles of bottled water in the warehouse. At this rate, the water will be cut off within two weeks. If we stock up on water now, we’ll have drinking water, water for washing, flushing toilets…” I rambled on and on. All the stress and anxiety I’d bottled up over these past few days came pouring out in that moment. I didn’t know how much my brother understood. I only knew that my brother still retained a shred of rationality. That tiny bit of humanity that hadn’t mutated was clinging on through our blood ties. I didn’t know how long it would last. 0

I didn’t lock my brother’s door. I hoped he could find food, so at least we wouldn’t starve to death. After venting my anxieties about facing the apocalypse, I returned to my room alone. A few minutes later, I heard footsteps. It was my brother! He had come out! Then I heard the click of the front door lock. Very faint, as if trying not to attract zombies. My heart raced – had my brother really left? I crouched by my bedroom window, peeking out. After a full ten minutes, my brother finally appeared on the empty concrete road below. He stumbled along, his gait as bizarre and grotesque as all the other zombies. The difference was, his brain hadn’t been completely ravaged by the zombie virus. I watched as he successfully entered the supermarket doors. The moment his figure disappeared, my heart pounded like a drum. I worried the supermarket would be a hellish scene of carnage inside. I worried whether my brother could make it back home safely. I even feared, what if something happened to him and he turned into a mindless walking corpse like our parents – what would I do then? I stared at the time ticking by on my watch, second by agonizing second. After a full hour, my brother emerged! Tears of joy nearly fell from my eyes. My brother was pushing a shopping cart piled high with food and various necessities! He slowly made his way back. My heart surged with emotion – my brother truly hadn’t changed. He was still my dearest family! I no longer kept my guard up against him, opening the door and quickly tidying up the living room and study to make space. Ten minutes later, my brother lugged two bags of food upstairs, drenched in sweat. His body trembled with excitement when he saw me. “Roar… Sis… for you…” he mumbled, barely intelligible. My emotions finally broke. Tears flowed freely as I said, “Good boy. Don’t worry, we’ll rely on each other to survive this.” My brother set the bags down and turned to go back downstairs for more food. He was only 18 years old. His thin frame now bore the weight of both our lives. 0

My brother worked tirelessly all day. He moved all the food from the supermarket back to our home. Thankfully the water and electricity hadn’t been cut yet, so I started sorting everything. I rewarded my brother with a big chunk of pork. He sat in the corner, gnawing away contentedly. I took inventory of our supplies. Beef, pork, lamb, chicken, duck… the meat filled an entire freezer. To prepare for potential power and water outages, I decided we should eat the refrigerated food first. I organized the rest based on expiration dates. Instant noodles, self-heating hotpots, rice noodles, cold noodles, and other instant foods – over 20 boxes in total. Vacuum-packed sausages, chicken feet, pork rinds, pork knuckles, pig’s trotters, duck necks, etc. – seven large bags. These foods had long shelf lives and were easy to store, so we didn’t need to eat them right away. Canned fish, canned luncheon meat, canned braised pork, canned pork knuckle, various canned fruits – over a dozen boxes. Canned goods usually lasted about two years, so I stacked them in the closet to eat last. For vegetables, we only had pumpkins, potatoes and sweet potatoes – three large sacks. I put those on the balcony to use as needed. My brother had also thoughtfully grabbed 15 power banks, 7 charging cables, 13 packs of toilet paper, and two bags of sanitary pads. After organizing everything, I asked my brother, “How was the supermarket? Anything else left?” My brother rotated his grayish-white eyeballs, mumbling incoherently: “Roar… veggies… all rotten. Water… fruit… also rotten.” I asked him again: “Did you find any drones?” My brother shook his head stiffly, “Roar… tomorrow… look again. Getting… dark.” I felt relieved. With my brother here, our survival crisis was well-managed. This time, I didn’t lock him in his room. He had worked tirelessly to bring back food, saving my life. I would no longer be wary of him.

  • Awakened the apocalypse bathing system, abdominal muscles look casually, my bathing center is the only safe area in the apocalypse!

After the zombie virus outbreak, my boyfriend of six years traded me to a shelter just to get himself in. Just as despair consumed me, a cold voice echoed in my mind. “Ding! Host, you have successfully bound to the Apocalypse Spa System. Please actively complete tasks to redeem rewards.” Six months ago, the zombie virus swept across the globe. Communication networks crumbled, resources dwindled, and the human living environment became severely polluted. Due to the initial outbreak, I had a habit of stockpiling supplies. My boyfriend and I survived the early days of the apocalypse thanks to my stash. Once our last bit of supplies ran out, we had no choice but to venture out in search of a shelter. I thought we’d found hope, but it turned out to be a trap. As a condition for entry, my boyfriend, Caleb, didn’t hesitate. He traded me. I heard stories. Before me, that “shelter” had already discarded over a dozen women, their bodies battered and bloody, after they’d been… used. I frantically escaped the shelter, hiding in an abandoned factory. Caleb and the shelter’s people searched relentlessly for me. “Boss Victor, don’t worry. She’s just an ordinary girl, no powers. She can’t have gotten far.” I huddled inside a discarded paint drum, biting my lip hard, my body trembling, not daring to make a sound. Tears streamed down my face. Six whole years. From college sweethearts to building a life together. The man who swore to protect me forever was now dragging me straight to hell. I couldn’t even feel the heartbreak anymore. My immediate problem was figuring out how to survive. I was terrified of being found by the shelter’s people, and equally terrified of the zombies roaming outside the factory. I could only curl up, frozen in place. As my consciousness faded, a cold, mechanical voice suddenly rang out in my mind. “Ding! Host, you have successfully bound to the Apocalypse Spa System. Please actively complete tasks to redeem rewards.” I was completely dumbfounded. “What system did you say?” The mechanical voice in my mind spoke again: “Host, it’s the Apocalypse Spa System. In short, you will operate a spa in the apocalypse with the assistance of this system.” “Now, please name your spa.” A spa? Those words felt both intimately familiar and utterly alien. In the apocalypse, when even basic necessities like food and clean drinking water couldn’t be guaranteed, taking a bath was an unbelievable luxury. Just staying alive was a miracle. Who would dare to dream of quality of life? “Then let’s call it Utopia Spa.” If I could truly operate a spa in this apocalypse, for someone like me, who grew up loving those big, luxurious spas, it’d be my personal paradise. “Ding! Utopia Spa successfully named. Now issuing Host a Newbie Welcome Pack: Administrator Room and First Floor Spa Area unlocked.” As the system’s voice faded, a magnificent, golden building suddenly rose from the ground in the heart of the city. A flash of white light blinded me. When I opened my eyes again, the stench of decay was gone. Before me was a lavishly decorated lobby. A glittering crystal chandelier, opulent leather sofas… I instinctively pinched my thigh. *Ow!* Not a dream! The decor, the vibe… it screamed luxury spa. A *super* luxurious one! “All supplies within Utopia Spa are unlimited. The Administrator has permanent free access. Please proceed to the Administrator Room to verify your identity.” I followed the system’s prompts and found the Administrator Room. Pushing open the door, I saw a spacious, brightly lit room. The closet was stocked with all sorts of daily necessities. Before I could even be surprised, the voice in my mind spoke again: “Administrator identity verification successful. Utopia Spa is officially open for business. Utopia Spa offers absolute safety, capable of shielding against all natural and man-made disasters. Now granting the Administrator a five-consecutive-draw grand opening bonus. Please accept.”

“Congratulations, Host! You have drawn: one automatic bread vending machine, one automatic beverage vending machine, one automatic instant noodle vending machine, one medical kit, and ten sets of clean clothes.” As soon as the system finished speaking, I rushed to the vending machine, scanned my face, pulled out a loaf of bread, and devoured it. I was starving. I hadn’t eaten a single bite since escaping the shelter. After quickly filling my stomach and chugging a bottle of water, I finally felt human again. “Ding! Host task: Please serve one guest and successfully persuade them to purchase a membership card. Task reward: First Floor Fruit Buffet and Second Floor Sauna & Hot Stone Bath areas unlocked.” The system’s voice rang out. I froze. This was the apocalypse. Where was I supposed to find a guest who’d want a membership card? But then I thought of the fruit buffet and the hot stone bath… A membership card. I *had* to get a membership card. My KPIs had to be met! Before that, though, there was one other thing I needed to do. I wrinkled my nose, smelling the paint fumes still clinging to my hair, then glanced at my clothes, so dirty their original color was unrecognizable. I decided a shower was in order. Just like the luxurious spas I remembered, the shower area was stocked with all sorts of free toiletries. The moment the showerhead sprayed hot water, I closed my eyes in pure bliss. A *hot* shower! Such a luxury was unimaginable in the apocalypse. A moment later, I spoke, a little shyly, “System, do you have a scrub mitt?” “Yes, Host. Would you prefer the gentle type, regular type, or heavy-duty type?” I looked down at myself, feeling my face flush. “Uh, let’s go with the heavy-duty one.” After changing into clean clothes, I leaned against the front desk, waiting for my first guest. Sometimes, a few zombies would shuffle past the door outside. At first, I was terrified. But gradually, I realized those zombies acted as if they couldn’t perceive the building at all; they didn’t even glance its way. Filled with relief, my courage grew, and I even pulled a stool right up to the door for a closer look. It wasn’t until nightfall that a figure finally stumbled towards the entrance. I focused my gaze. It looked like a person. He paused, startled, when he saw me through the glass door, then his eyes widened in shock as he scanned the building up and down. He seemed unable to believe such a place could exist in the apocalypse. The situation was urgent; the zombies behind him were closing in fast. He had no time to hesitate, rushing up the steps. “Please, open the door!” I snapped my fingers in the air. The door opened automatically. He lunged inside just a second before the zombies could grab his clothes. Strangely, the zombies didn’t follow him in. They simply stiffened for a moment, then mechanically turned and shuffled away. He stared, wide-eyed, almost convinced he was hallucinating. Even though it was all a bit bizarre, he knew he was safe for now. The tension drained from his body, and he collapsed onto the floor, gasping for breath. My gaze fell on him. He was covered in dust and bloodstains, his face obscured, but from his build, I could tell it was a man. Oh no, it was a *guest*! I immediately put on my best smile and stepped forward. “Hey there, handsome. Want to sign up for a membership?”

“Where is this place?” Jax looked around, his gaze finally settling on the beautiful woman in front of him. She was tall and strikingly pretty, her red dress making her skin appear as white as snow. He could even catch the faint scent of shampoo from her hair. In this apocalypse, where everything else was ruins, this place defied all logic. They said the prettier the woman, the more dangerous. He instinctively clutched the zombie core in his pocket. He’d risked his life for this; he couldn’t let this woman trick him out of it! “This is Utopia Spa, and I’m the sole Administrator here,” the beautiful woman said, her voice equally pleasant. Utopia Spa? Was it the kind of spa he was thinking of? Jax found it hard to believe. Water and electricity had been cut off a week after the apocalypse began. But this brightly lit, spotless lobby, wasn’t it exactly how he remembered a spa looking? The Administrator seemed to sense his doubt and slowly explained: “That’s right, this is exactly the kind of spa you’re thinking of. We’re open 24 hours. Just one zombie core makes you a lifelong VIP. Zombie cores can be exchanged for points on your membership card, which can be used for all services and products here. One zombie core equals ten points, and the daily entry fee is two points.” He knew that outside, a single zombie core barely bought a stale biscuit. Jax didn’t hesitate. He immediately pulled a zombie core from his pocket and declared, full of swagger, “Sign me up for a card!” He placed the zombie core into the machine at the front desk, then pressed his fingerprint according to the prompts on the electronic screen. The membership card was processed. As the machine spat out the card, a notification sound played. “Beep! Activation successful. Cardholder: Jax, Current Balance: 10 points.” “This facility operates on a self-service model. This card allows you to make purchases at any self-service machine within the spa. This card is for the cardholder’s personal use only and cannot be transferred. Lost cards can be reissued.” “Entry fee: 2 points deducted. Current balance: 8 points. Towels, bath supplies, and toiletries are all included in the entry fee and do not require additional purchase. Please feel free to retrieve them from the sterilization cabinet in the spa area.” Jax clutched the small, golden card in his hand, a wave of emotion washing over him. He’d been so busy surviving and fighting zombies. How long had it been since he’d had a proper bath? “Welcome to Utopia Spa! VIP card in hand, sir, right this way! One gentleman!” The Administrator’s voice suddenly boomed. The loud announcement startled Jax, and he nearly dropped the card.

“System, those lines are so cheesy. Can we stop saying them?” “No, Host. This is standard procedure. Only by actively operating Utopia Spa can you unlock more areas.” This damn system was a pain! “Congratulations, Host, you have completed the task! Task rewards: Fruit Buffet and Hot Stone Bath areas are now unlocked.” All my earlier annoyance vanished. “You truly are the best system ever!” Since the zombie outbreak, I hadn’t eaten fresh fruit. God, I was *so* craving fruit. Tears of pure longing *might* have just started streaming from the corners of my mouth. *Mmm, mmm, mmm…* I was about to tell Jax about the newly unlocked areas, but when I turned around, he was already gone. Whatever. He’d probably see it himself once he went in for his shower. I strode straight to the Fruit Buffet. The buffet counter had a row of windows, each labeled. Watermelon, strawberries, apples, bananas, oranges… and more. Just press a button, and a portion of machine-cut fruit would come out of the corresponding window. All free. A moment later, I was lounging in a massage pool, a fruit platter in hand. I ate watermelon while enjoying the water jets massaging my back. Each piece of watermelon was perfectly cut into bite-sized portions. Eating them with a fork, one by one, was incredibly convenient. (There were special trays by the pool edge to keep things from getting into the water.) I squinted my eyes, every fiber of my being radiating pure bliss. “Ding! Host task: Please serve three guests and successfully recruit two scrubbers. Task reward: Second Floor Buffet Restaurant area unlocked.” The system’s voice suddenly announced. What?! A buffet restaurant area? I was instantly energized. I scrambled out of the massage pool, shoving the remaining watermelon from my plate into my mouth. Used fruit platters went right onto the fruit buffet counter, where a machine automatically cleaned them. At my strong suggestion, the system put up a large sign by the spa entrance. “Huh, your spa is hiring scrubbers?” Jax had just finished his shower, his hair damp, wearing a bathrobe with the “Utopia Spa” logo, and carrying a platter full of various fruits. He looked completely different from when I first saw him. I blurted out in surprise, “Whoa, you’re actually that pale?” Jax froze for a second, then his face instantly flushed bright red.

This was my first time being an HR manager, and I honestly had zero experience. I fumbled for a moment before asking my first question: “Do you have any prior experience as a Human Epidermal Debris Removal Specialist?” Jax stared blankly. “A what now?” He’d never heard of that job before. I calmly explained, “You know, a scrubber. Have you ever done it before?” Jax’s mouth twitched. “No.” I frowned and let out a soft “Tsk.” “But I can learn!” Good. Teachable. “Congratulations, you’re hired.” Jax blinked, surprised. This was the fastest job interview he’d ever had; he got hired after just one question. “So, what’s the salary and benefits like?” He rubbed his hands together, eyes full of anticipation. Such a luxurious place, the pay must be great, right? He’d hit the nail on the head. I gave a dry, awkward laugh. “System, how much should we pay our employees?” The system was silent for two seconds. “Host, please pay attention. We’ve only earned one zombie core since opening. We don’t have money to pay anyone yet.” My words caught in my throat. It made perfect sense. I couldn’t argue with that. “Well, about the salary… we won’t have it in the beginning, but later… Hey, don’t leave!” Jax’s voice was full of resentment. “Boss, do I look like an idiot?” I pursed my lips. “Even if there’s no salary, our employees get free food and lodging here…” Jax immediately slid back on his knees. “Boss, I think I’m perfectly suited for this job!” Right now, countless people couldn’t even get a hot meal or a safe night’s sleep, and who knew when they’d die? To find such a clean, safe job with free food and lodging in this apocalypse? It was beyond amazing. I was a bit surprised by his rapid change of heart. Jax, however, mistook my hesitation and quickly rolled up his sleeve to show me his biceps. “Boss, I might look thin, but I’m an A-rank strength ability user. Scrubbing will be no problem.” I took the hint. “Take a day off. You start work tomorrow.” Great. Half of the scrubber recruitment task was done. Though, a strength-based ability user as a scrubber… I silently lit a candle for the future male guests. To complete the system task faster, I sent Jax out to the nearest base on his first day to drum up business. Just as I thought I’d have to wait a few more days for guests, the main door suddenly rattled with frantic banging. “Is anyone inside?!” “Open up! Help us!” Through the glass door, I saw five people. They were all injured to varying degrees, one of them the worst, leaning on another person, barely able to stand. Blood dripped steadily from his wound. It was an emergency. I quickly opened the door to let them in, then found some medicine from the medical kit I’d received from the system’s lottery, and handed it to them. They gratefully accepted the medicine, thanking me profusely. “You can recover here. There are vending machines over there if you need water and food, you can buy it yourselves.” They had been so focused on treating their wounds that they only now looked around their surroundings. “There are actually vending machines!” “They even have instant noodles here! Hey, how do I open this machine?” I explained the spa’s facilities to them. After a brief discussion, they decided to each get a membership card and immediately bought five days’ worth of entry. I thought the next few days would be peaceful. But I underestimated the ugliness of human nature.

Lying in my Administrator Room, under a blanket and enjoying the AC, I suddenly heard the system’s alarm blare in my mind: “Alert! Detecting malicious resource waste within the establishment. Administrator, please proceed to the lobby immediately to handle the situation.” I arrived in the lobby, shaking with fury at the sight before me. Half-eaten fruits were discarded everywhere on the coffee tables and the floor. Strawberries were missing their tips, watermelons had only their reddest parts eaten… all the fruits were gnawed on for their sweetest bits then tossed. Some fruits had only a single bite taken out of them before being thrown onto the floor. Empty instant noodle cups and bread wrappers were scattered everywhere. There was a large puddle of spilled instant noodle broth on the floor tiles, mixed with banana peels, giving off a strange odor. And the culprits were sprawled out on the sofas. “What are you doing?!” I roared, my voice thick with anger. They merely glanced up at me, not seeming to think they’d done anything wrong. “Just relaxing, what else?” “I’m talking about all this on the tables and the floor! Do you know how many people out there can’t even get a meal, can’t even get a drop of clean water? Why are you wasting food?” I was livid, but they just shrugged it off. “Whether they eat or not, what’s it got to do with us?” “Besides, aren’t these fruits provided free to customers? We like eating them this way, so what?” “We’ve already paid our entry fee. The customer is king! Do you even know how to run a business?” How could people be so shameless? I actually laughed, a cold, angry sound. “This establishment provides free fruit for customers to *eat*, not for customers to *waste*.” “What do you mean?” I pointed at the discarded fruits. “It means exactly what it sounds like. What you *eat* is free. What you *waste*? That’s going to cost you.” As soon as they heard “cost,” they instantly bristled. “You say it costs, and it costs? Why?!” I said icily, “Because this spa is mine. You trashed my property and wasted my food. You’ll compensate me for it.” But they laughed, as if they’d heard the funniest joke in the world. “This is the apocalypse! We’re not paying, what are you gonna do? Call the cops? Hahahaha…” I wasn’t angry at all, because I had the system. “No worries. Your card balance has already automatically paid for your damages. Now, you actually owe me 500 zombie cores. That 500 zombie cores is for medical fees. Based on current prices outside, you’re getting a deal.”
