• My Sister’s Going to Charm School

My sister, Brittany, is dead set on going to charm school, just like those influencers, so she can marry some rich dude. I tried to talk her out of it. Charm school ain’t cheap, and there’s no guarantee you’ll even snag a sugar daddy. For once, Brittany actually listened to me. She didn’t go. But then, she found out our neighbor, Ashley, went to charm school and actually married a freakin’ millionaire. Brittany lost her damn mind. She blamed me for ruining her chance at being a trophy wife. One night, while I was sound asleep, she stuck a knife straight into my heart. And then I woke up. I was back. Back on the day Brittany first decided she wanted to go to charm school. This time, I’m keeping my mouth shut. … “CRASH!” The noise ripped me awake, and the first thing I saw was a total disaster of a room. And standing right there, smack in the middle of the chaos, were the three of them. They saw me wake up and gave each other this awkward look. Finally, my sister, Brittany, glared at me, all righteous indignation: “What are you staring at? We just came in here to see if you’re stashing anything. Mom and Dad have busted their asses raising you all these years, and you’re hiding a secret stash of cash?” Hearing Brittany’s words, Mom and Dad jumped on the bandwagon, backing her up. They pointed their fingers at me, not holding back: “Your sister’s right! We’ve worked ourselves to the bone to raise you, and you owe us! Hand over all your money, right now!” Hearing those familiar words, I just froze, completely stunned. I instinctively reached for my chest, touching my heart. Wasn’t I just killed by Brittany? Didn’t she shove a knife right into my chest? Wasn’t I already dead…? My parents’ accusations were still ringing in my ears. Just like before, Brittany wants to be like those online celebs, go to charm school, and marry a billionaire as a quick way to the top. But last time, I thought it was a crazy idea. Last time, the charm school tuition would have cleaned out our entire savings. We’re just a regular, working-class family, for crying out loud. We can’t afford that kind of thing. And going to charm school doesn’t guarantee you’ll marry rich. It’s all just online marketing BS. I tried to talk Brittany out of it, telling her she should be more down-to-earth. Brittany actually listened to me and didn’t go to charm school. But then our neighbor, Ashley, actually married some big shot after going to that damn charm school. She became a real-life trophy wife. Brittany just snapped, filled with jealousy, convinced it was all my fault. She grabbed a knife and jammed it straight into my heart, without a second thought. I closed my eyes for a second, trying to get my head straight. Now I finally believe it. I really died. But somehow, I’ve been reborn. If I get a do-over, I’m definitely not sticking my nose in other people’s business. If Brittany wants to go to charm school, then let her go. I’m not giving her a single freakin’ dime. I just stared at them, my face blank. My parents, they’ve always played favorites, ever since we were little. Even though Brittany and I are both their daughters, both born from their flesh and blood. But they’ve always been all about Brittany. If Brittany got something, I didn’t. If I had something, Brittany had to have it too. Growing up, I was stuck taking care of the whole damn family, cooking and cleaning and everything else, while Brittany acted like some kinda princess, waiting for me to serve her. All I got was insults and beatings. My whole family treated me like I wasn’t even human. But deep down, I always had this tiny sliver of hope, you know? I’m still their daughter, after all. Even if things were rough, we were still a family. But this time, I’m not buying it anymore. I don’t need a family like that. I looked at them, cold and detached: “You already know how much money I have. I hand over my entire paycheck every single month.” Brittany’s face twisted with fury: “That’s not good enough! I have to go to charm school! The application fee is ten grand, and you better find a way to come up with it!” My parents hesitated for a second, but I knew they had a secret stash of savings. They just wanted to bleed me dry first. Chapter 2: Moving Out Faced with Brittany’s demands, my parents immediately turned on me again. They actually wanted me to take out a loan to pay for Brittany’s damn charm school. But I’m not the same sucker I was in my past life. I won’t try to talk Brittany out of it, and I sure as hell won’t be taking out any loans for her. I stood up and started throwing my stuff into a suitcase. I’m getting out of here. I’m moving out. If I stay in this house with these people, I swear I’m gonna do something I’ll regret. Seeing what I was doing, the whole family just lost it. My mom slapped me across the face, hard. “You little bitch! If you dare move out of this house, don’t ever come crawling back!” I held my cheek and stared at them, my face blank. My parents were giving me these hateful looks, and Brittany was practically jumping for joy, loving every minute of it. But this time, I won’t let them walk all over me. I didn’t even finish high school. I went straight to work to support this whole damn family. They’ve been spending my money, living it up like they’re royalty. Seeing that I was serious about leaving, Brittany suddenly freaked out. Without me to milk for cash, she’d never be able to afford charm school. She instinctively reached out, blocking my way, trying to stop me from leaving. But I wasn’t listening to her anymore. A cold smile twisted my lips: “Mom and Dad are loaded, right? My money’s all with them. If you want to go to charm school so bad, why don’t you ask them to pay for it?” Hearing that, Brittany immediately spun around, fixing her gaze on my parents. My parents’ eyes darted around, avoiding eye contact, looking guilty as hell. They probably thought this charm school thing was a long shot, too. But Brittany’s their precious angel, the apple of their eye, the one they’ve spoiled rotten since day one. They just couldn’t bring themselves to tell her no. I took advantage of the moment, grabbing my bag and walking out the door, without a single backward glance. Even if I’m flat broke, I don’t want to spend another second in that house. Just being there makes me sick, like I’m suffocating. As soon as I was gone, Brittany ran straight to my parents’ bedroom and started tearing the place apart, turning everything upside down. She finally found their bank book. It showed a balance of $200,000, most of which was money I’d handed over to them over the years. Brittany’s eyes just about popped out of her head when she saw all that money. That was more than enough to pay for charm school, with plenty left over. She could even buy herself some new designer stuff. Brittany snatched up the bank book and made a beeline for the door. My parents tried to stop her, to grab it back, but that was their life savings. It was supposed to be their retirement fund, the money they’d use to take care of themselves when they got old. But Brittany knew how to play them. She changed her expression, gave them her best puppy-dog eyes, and whined: “Lisa can always make more money, can’t she? You always said you loved me the most. Once I go to charm school and marry a rich guy, you can come live with me and enjoy the good life!” My parents looked at each other, their love for Brittany outweighing their attachment to the money. Deep down, they were dreaming of living the high life, too. They figured if Brittany could just land a rich husband, they’d be set for life, living in the lap of luxury. Just like that, Brittany got her hands on $200,000, no problem. She and Ashley, the neighbor, signed up for charm school together. Now, here I am, kicked out of my own house, with only two hundred bucks in my pocket. That’s all I had managed to save up on my own, hiding it away in secret. Any money I earned at work, they’d always find a way to take it. At first, they’d make up some excuse, saying they were saving it for me. But then I saw them, clear as day, handing my hard-earned cash over to Brittany. After that, they didn’t even bother to pretend anymore. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself. From now on, their lives were their own business. I didn’t give a damn what happened to them. And I sure as hell wasn’t going to try and talk Brittany out of going to charm school. This time around, I was gonna live my life for me, and me alone. I didn’t have a fancy college degree, so I was stuck with doing manual labor. But I got lucky and found a job that paid pretty well and wasn’t too backbreaking. Cleaning offices for a big corporation. Chapter 3: Be My Woman Right now, the most important thing is to stay alive, and that means having money in my pocket. If I want to change my life for the better, I gotta take it one step at a time, brick by brick. Earning my own living isn’t anything to be ashamed of. But let’s be honest, a young girl like me, wearing a drab cleaning uniform, kind of sticks out like a sore thumb among all these fancy business types. All the other cleaners are older ladies, most of them pushing sixty. I’m the only one in my twenties, the freakin’ baby of the bunch. And from day one, they’ve been giving me the cold shoulder, acting like I don’t belong. Of course, I saw it coming. I knew I’d be the odd one out. The supervisor gave me the worst assignment of all: cleaning the CEO’s office. I heard the guy’s got a real temper, and if you don’t clean his office to his exact standards, he’ll fire you in a heartbeat. Word is, he’s already gone through a whole army of cleaners. So, naturally, I got stuck cleaning his office. The other cleaners practically threw a parade behind my back, picturing me getting kicked out on my ass before lunch. They’re all past their prime, bodies kinda worn out, faces showing the miles they’ve traveled. And then there’s me, this young girl who showed up, and they’re probably looking at me and thinking of the time they were young and beautiful. Feeling their eyes on me, I couldn’t help but feel a little tense. This is my only job right now. I heard the CEO’s got some kind of weird thing about cleanliness. He’s a total neat freak, a perfectionist. I took a deep breath, telling myself to just do my job and keep my head down. I opened the door and went inside. I tried not to look at the man sitting behind the big desk. I just focused on cleaning. I was super careful, wiping down every surface with the right kind of cloth, not wanting to screw anything up. But the whole time, I could feel his eyes on me, like a laser beam burning into the back of my head. Even though I tried to stay calm, I was sweating bullets. This is my only job right now, and I didn’t want to lose it. When I finally finished cleaning, I turned to leave. Suddenly, someone called out to me. “What’s your name?” I froze for a second. That voice… it sounded kind of familiar. But I turned around, still keeping my eyes on the floor. “My name’s Lisa,” I said, trying to sound respectful. Then I heard footsteps coming closer, and the next thing I knew, someone was grabbing my chin and tilting my face up. I looked up, and my eyes went wide. This guy… he was the dude I had that one-night stand with! It was a rainy night. I was working late, heading home after midnight. I turned a corner and saw a guy lying on the ground, covered in blood. My first instinct was to call 911, but the guy grabbed my arm, begging me to take him somewhere safe. He threatened me, basically. I didn’t know what to do, so I took him to my secret place: this abandoned warehouse down by the docks. It’s where I go when I’m feeling down, you know? Just to get away from everything. There’s even an old mattress in the back. I got him settled in, and then I promised I wouldn’t call the cops or tell anyone about what happened. The guy was about to let me go. But then he started breathing all heavy, his eyes fixed on me, all bloodshot. The next thing I knew, everything was spinning. My clothes were torn off, and before I knew it, I was completely naked. All those buried memories, they came flooding back. I lowered my head, feeling this weird mix of fear and embarrassment. How could the CEO be that same guy? Jake Reynolds took a step closer, his voice low and menacing: “Do you remember me? The rainy night… you and me…” Hearing those words, my cheeks started to burn. I shook my head instinctively: “Mr. Reynolds, I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Jake chuckled, this low, dangerous sound: “You have a little red birthmark on your lower back, shaped like a heart. Should I jog your memory?” I didn’t know what Jake was getting at. What was he trying to do to me? I had worked so hard to forget about that night, to put it behind me. Seeing my confusion, Jake leaned in close and told me exactly what he wanted. “Be my woman.” Chapter 4: The Acceptance Hearing those words, my first reaction was to say no, to get the hell out of there. But then Jake said something that made me stop dead in my tracks. “I don’t have a wife, I don’t have a girlfriend. You come with me, you’ll be my woman, and I’ll give you five million dollars a month.” Five million dollars. I couldn’t earn that much money if I worked for a hundred lifetimes. I’m just a regular girl, you know? Hearing about all that cash, I was ashamed to admit, but I hesitated. Jake saw it, and he cranked up the pressure even more: “I won’t force you to do anything you don’t want to do.” I honestly don’t even know how I managed to walk out of the CEO’s office. I just felt like I was floating, like my feet weren’t even touching the ground. Just like that, I walked into the office as a cleaning lady, and walked out as something completely different: Jake Reynolds’ woman. I never imagined that the guy I had a one-night stand with that night would turn out to be Jake Reynolds. I mean, who hasn’t heard of Jake Reynolds? He’s a freakin’ business legend, a global icon, always near the top of the billionaire list. People have estimated his net worth at hundreds of billions of dollars. He’s at the top of the food chain. The richest of the rich. All the so-called “elite” families in this town are nothing but peasants in his eyes. He just has to snap his fingers, and the whole city trembles. I honestly can’t figure out why a guy like that would even look twice at someone like me. But whatever the reason, I ended up moving into his mansion that very day. He isn’t anything like his name. It sounds all gentle and romantic, but Jake is anything but. He pulled me close, wrapping his arms around me. His scent surrounded me, filled my senses, took my breath away. But like he promised, he didn’t try to force me to do anything. He kept his word. Meanwhile, on the other side of town, Brittany had forked over the ten grand for her charm school tuition and officially started her journey to trophy wife-dom. Everywhere she looked, all she saw were designer bags and watches, diamond bracelets and platinum necklaces. Brittany had never seen so much high-end crap in her life. Her eyes practically bugged out of her head. She was more convinced than ever that she had made the right decision, that this charm school was her ticket to the good life. After all, our neighbor Ashley had managed to marry some big shot after going to the same school. So why not her? She was way better looking than Ashley, anyway. But just a few days later, Ashley had completely transformed. Brittany stared at her, eyes burning with envy. Ashley’s face was so different. She had obviously had some “work” done. Her nose was higher, her eyes were bigger, and her chin was all pointy and defined. Brittany felt completely outclassed. It seemed like everyone else was already carrying a freakin’ Birkin bag, while she was still wearing clothes she’d swiped from my closet. And her face was still a dull, sickly yellow. Brittany wasn’t gonna let herself get left behind. She decided she had to get plastic surgery too. Eyes, nose, everything. She blew through her cash in no time, and even racked up a huge debt to the freakin’ plastic surgeon. After the first few lessons, most of the girls already had designer bags, flaunting them like trophies. Brittany felt like she just had to keep up, no matter what. At first, she tried to squeeze more money out of Mom and Dad, but without me around to foot the bills, the family was completely broke. So Brittany pulled the ultimate weapon: she threatened to kill herself if they didn’t give her the money. My parents had no choice but to hit up their friends and relatives, begging for loans. At first, they were able to scrape together a few bucks, but they were so irresponsible, borrowing money left and right without any intention of paying it back. Pretty soon, nobody would even answer their calls anymore. But Brittany wasn’t listening to reason. She just kept pushing, demanding more and more. After sinking tens of thousands of dollars into her face, all she had managed to do was make herself look like a cheap knock-off of a celebrity. Her face was swollen and bruised, and she looked like she’d been stung by a thousand bees. Brittany had planned to wait a few more weeks, let the swelling go down before showing herself in public. But then, one of the other girls in the charm school actually managed to hook up with some freakin’ tycoon. Now, she was all over social media, showing off her new life, her designer wardrobe, her private jet. Brittany was green with jealousy. She was convinced she was the one who was supposed to marry rich first, to be living the high life, to be the envy of everyone. So, she hatched a plan. She started posting anonymous gossip online, trying to tear the other girl down. #FakeSocialiteLeanneIsFakeFromTheTopToBottom# #Leanne’sSugarDaddyIsADirtyOldMan# Those two hashtags took off like wildfire, trending all over social media. In a matter of hours, Leanne’s entire life had been exposed. Turns out, she wasn’t some refined debutante at all, but a pole dancer from a sleazy strip club. Just like that, Leanne became a laughingstock, a walking punchline. Her dream of marrying into high society, of living happily ever after in a gilded cage, was completely shattered.

  • She Married My Rival, I Married a Legend. Guess Who’s Crying Now?

My wife, Ashley Miller, ditched me on our anniversary to go to her old flame’s bachelor party. Unreal, right? She got back around 3 AM, and when she saw me asleep, she took her ripped fishnet stockings and set our freakin’ house on fire, using gasoline. Seriously?! “If I hadn’t said yes to your proposal, I would be marrying Chad tomorrow!” she yelled. “I really regret being with you!” I could barely breathe, and all I could smell was men’s cologne on her. That’s when I knew, she’d been cheating on me for years. And I was just a total simp, ending up with absolutely nothing. I woke up again, and it was the day I was gonna ask Ashley out. This time, I threw away all the stupid love letters and just focused on becoming a better version of myself. Ten years later, I’m still a washed-up, nobody actor, while she and her golden boy, Chad, are A-list celebs. On a reality TV show, she keeps putting me down. But the second she sees the freakin’ Oscar-winning actress I’m dating climb into my lap, she loses it. “Ethan, didn’t you say I was the only woman you’d ever love, in any lifetime?” she whined. 1. After chilling at home for six months, my wife, Sarah, gets annoyed that I’m just loafing around, so she randomly finds me a reality show gig. I don’t get it. I’m basically a nobody actor, why would they want me on a show like that, except to be a filler? I was chilling in a corner, trying to stay out of camera shot, when I saw Ashley and her husband, Chad Johnson. “The director didn’t say anything about this. Are they special guests or something?” I muttered to myself. Ashley was dressed in a perfect designer gown, and the freakin’ rock on her finger was blinding. “Ashley and Chad are, like, the perfect couple in Hollywood. They even do reality TV together!” “It’s so great that Chad respects Ashley so much. I remember there was this one movie that was kinda racy, but Ashley said it would help her acting, and Chad was totally cool with it.” “Hey, what about that simp who used to chase Ashley around? The dude even wrote her songs!” “Probably saw Chad was about to become a superstar and chickened out. Plus, Ashley’s not some newbie anymore.” When they said my name, Ashley’s smile froze and she looked super uncomfortable. She quickly recovered, though. One of the guests didn’t notice and kept talking. “He was actually pretty into her, writing all those love letters and everything.” “Back then, he was running around trying to find Ashley jobs, doing all kinds of stuff.” Ashley saw Chad starting to look pissed, so she changed the subject. “I’m married to Chad now, why are you bringing up old stuff? Besides, I didn’t ask him to do anything. It was all his own thing.” Chad’s face went back to normal, and he said with a smile, “Everyone makes mistakes when they’re young. We’re really happy now, so let’s just leave the past in the past!” I just rolled my eyes. Seriously, still talking about stuff from years ago? If this show airs, my wife is gonna freak out! I coughed and said, “Actually, there wasn’t really anything between her and…” “Oh my god! What are the chances?! Ethan’s on this show too!” someone yelled, cutting me off. “Isn’t that Ethan? You haven’t said anything, you wouldn’t have showed up because you knew Ashley was gonna be on this show, right? You really can’t let it go, huh? She’s married, dude.” “Ashley and Chad are A-listers now, they just show up to these shows for fun. A washed-up guy like you should be practical and get as much camera time as you can. Or you’ll never get another gig!” I ignored them. “I really didn’t know they were coming to this show, or else…” “Or else what?” some young dude near Ashley asked, narrowing his eyes. “Or else you’d be waiting for Ashley backstage, right? You need to realize there’s a big freakin’ gap between you and Ashley. You’re a nobody actor, you can’t even compare to someone like Chad. You’re just here to watch them be in love. You don’t have a chance.” “You like stalking Ashley so much, why are you doing reality TV? You should be a paparazzi! Put that dedication to work, and you’ll be successful, dude!” They were just trying to be funny for the camera, so I ignored them and started counting the lights on the ceiling, feeling like I was in freakin’ jail. I thought about the afternoon filming and it was a pain in the ass. 2 I finally got to lunch, so I went into a random bistro and ordered a couple of things. After the first bite, I knew something was off, and I was about to ask the waiter to take it back. But then I saw Chad and Ashley coming in to eat. Behind them were the people who were making fun of me earlier. When they saw me, someone frowned and looked down their nose at me. “Yeah, right. You’re not still in love with Ashley? You’re eating here ’cause she likes French food? Don’t try to act all rich, you can’t afford this place as a B-list actor.” I put down my silverware and frowned. “Can’t I come here?” “Acting all gentlemanly, how much did you pay to learn that? You gotta know that she’s awesome, and dating her can help you raise the bar, but you should realize your place. You’re just a nobody actor, you can’t handle her.” Ashley spoke up, “Honey, I really didn’t know he was gonna be here. Wanna go somewhere else?” Chad looked at me and smiled. “Nah, let’s stay here.” Ashley gave me a look like I was a bug she wanted to squash. “I know you still have feelings for me, but I’m doing great now. Please don’t bother me anymore.” Then she frowned at the food on my table. “This place is expensive, you shouldn’t come here. I’ll pay for it this time.” Before I could say no, the waiter brought a bottle of red wine to my table. Chad sat right across from me, poured a glass, and pushed it over. “Sorry we didn’t send you a wedding invite, but you should still drink to our happiness. It’ll help Ashley finally get over you.” I thought they were acting crazy, so I waved my hand. “It’s rare to be friends after a breakup. Since we’re not friends, I don’t need a wedding toast. If you want, I’ll send a gift.” Chad’s face instantly turned cold, and he glared at me. “I was gonna get you some screen time on this show…” He kept talking, making it clear what he meant. “I still have some pull in Hollywood. If you don’t drink today, you’re gonna have a hard time getting work.” I understood what he meant. He was gonna blacklist me. “You’re hilarious,” I said. I thought of all the crap I went through, and couldn’t hold back a smile. Chad glared at me. Then he said, “Ashley, your simp still can’t let you go! You make him drink!” Ashley looked pissed. She couldn’t believe Chad was treating her like crap in public. And it was all because I was back in her life. Ashley took the glass and gave it to me. “Just drink it. It’s been ten years, you need to move on.” “Besides, I never really liked you,” she said. I just glared at them. Then, because they wouldn’t let it go, I spilled the beans. “My wife set me up for this show. I’ve been married for years.” “You’re thinking way too highly of yourself. I don’t feel anything for you. And my wife and I are trying to have a baby, so I can’t drink.” I pushed the glass away again, getting annoyed. “You? Who in their right mind would want you?” Chad laughed. Everyone was trying not to laugh, but when Chad laughed, they all cracked up. “Ethan, looks like your wife isn’t anything special. Thought you were dating a sugar mama. Is this the only show she could get you?” “Maybe you should just quit acting. I can find you a decent job that pays way more than you’re making.” “You suck at being a gold digger. I’ll give you some money to buy some decent clothes.” I took a deep breath, fighting back the anger they stirred up about my wife. “Not necessary. But I’m gonna warn you, watch out for karma!” Chad laughed when I said that. “Is that all you got? I thought you were gonna tell us who your wife is! Why won’t you say her name? Is she that embarrassing?” Ashley seemed nervous when she heard I was married, but when she heard that, she gave me a smug look. “Chad’s just trying to help you out, and you’re acting ungrateful,” she said. “That’s how you always were. You gotta stop being so proud. Do you really think you’re some kind of saint?” Hearing that, I felt really disappointed. I thought she’d be a better person this time around, but she was just as bad as before. I ignored them and got up to pay. Chad yelled after me as I walked away. “Ethan, we’re working together! You can’t even drink to us? Are we really gonna make this hard?” Someone else joined in. “Yeah, if you walk out now, we’re gonna make you look bad on the show!” “Why are we even paying attention to him? Is he trying to get famous off of us?” I didn’t look back and paid and left. 3 When I got to the studio in the afternoon, they gave me evil looks, like I owed them money. Filming started out okay, and they were just showing off near the cameras, so I didn’t bother going over. But then they started playing some kind of competitive game, and I had to deal with it. They were all on the same team, and they were messing with me where the cameras couldn’t see. They started getting more aggressive, and it was almost like they were actually trying to hurt me. “Snap!” I felt something snap on my neck. Then I saw Chad holding my necklace. “Give that back. My wife gave me that,” I said, feeling bad. He thought the necklace was fancy and expensive, but when he heard my wife gave it to me, he scoffed. “This is cheap crap. I thought you bought it at a flea market.” Ashley gave me a look when she heard us. Last time around, she only gave me one cheap necklace. I could tell she got the wrong idea. The one she gave me, I tossed after I woke up. This one, my wife gave me. Chad followed my gaze and saw Ashley’s expression. He got furious, snapped the necklace, and threw it on the ground. Ashley glanced at Chad, took a deep breath, patted his back, and said, “It’s just filming a show. Stuff happens. Since my husband broke it, I’ll pay for it. Is five grand enough?” I was pissed at how she was treating me. “This was an anniversary gift. You can’t just put a price on that.” She didn’t even look up. “Fine, I’ll give you another five grand! Ten grand for your necklace.” She was being mean, and all the good memories I had of her went out the window. Time really changes people. “You…never mind. I’m just gonna go,” I said, trying to keep it cool. “You just want money, right? Here, take it. Why are you acting like this?” she snapped, blocking my way. I was sick of dealing with them, so I pushed her and tried to get past. “Move!” Ashley was shocked. She couldn’t believe I was treating her like that. I used to be a simp who did everything she wanted. Even though I didn’t make much money last time, she still lived a pretty good life. But after I woke up, she didn’t get any special treatment from me, and I was actually way worse to her. She was thinking about the past and didn’t notice Chad turning red. “You’re dead!” Chad yelled and kicked me in the chest, forgetting they were filming. Everyone around us got ready to throw down. I kept dodging them and tried to fight back. Some of them were already on the ground, crying. Just when they were starting to hesitate, Chad yelled, “Just cut this out! I’ll take the blame! Do it!” I kept my distance from them, not panicking at all. This was being filmed, this was a stage accident. I just needed to wait for the staff and security to come and break it up. “Bang!” I heard a loud noise above me, then I felt a lot of pain. I was seeing stars, and blood was dripping from my forehead. When I looked back, I saw Ashley holding a bloody microphone, looking ice cold. “I love you, Ashley!” Chad yelled 4 The people who were about to beat me up freaked out when they saw me lying on the ground bleeding. They were just there to get paid, and they only went after me ’cause Chad was a big star. Now that something actually happened, they all backed away and tried to act like they had nothing to do with Chad. The blood seemed to bring out Chad’s animal side, and he was about to start hitting me again. Just then, a woman’s voice came from behind the stage. “Stop it!” she yelled. Chad’s eyes went back to normal, and he looked stunned when he saw who it was. “Willow Hayes? You’re the special guest the director mentioned?” Everyone in the room was excited. “The director went all out, even getting an Oscar winner!” “She’s the biggest star in Hollywood right now! Winning awards for acting, singing, everything!” “I wish I could be in Willow’s management company!” The actress made everyone nervous. Willow just finished filming for the day and wanted to check things out. But when she got to the studio, it was chaos. “Chad? What happened?” Willow glared at everyone, and the people who felt guilty started shaking. She’s one of the top talents and has a lot of power, and a ton of resources. If anyone could get in with her, they’d be set for life. “Sorry, Willow, we were just doing the game the director told us to do,” Chad lied. “But someone wasn’t following the rules and tried to harass my wife, so I lost it.” Chad was putting all the blame on me. Willow looked at the necklace on the ground, didn’t see me, and frowned. “Willow, my head hurts. Can you help me up?” I heard my wife say, sounding dazed. Chad swore when he heard my voice. “Who the hell are you to call Willow by her name?” Willow ran over to me, looking worried. “Honey, what happened?”

  • Sunsets Without Moonlight

Back when I was still fresh-faced and naive, the boy next door, that damn tease, thought he couldn’t let anyone else have me. He used the excuse of tutoring me, all the while leading me down a path in my bedroom where I shed my innocence. Later, for seven whole years, he clung to me relentlessly. He was the player, and I let him take me whenever, wherever, without a second thought. We unlocked every single position you could think of, and went through enough strawberry-flavored condoms to stock a pharmacy. When I finally asked him to marry me, he claimed he wasn’t done having fun. I lost it, slit my wrists to force him to the altar, but all I got in return was a cold, “I’m not the marrying kind.” The very next day, a reporter caught him sneaking out of a motel with his precious white-bread angel, and he called me to clean up the mess. I was forced to wear the same outfit, to distract the paparazzi, only to be dragged into an alley by his rabid fanbase and beaten to a bloody pulp. When my mom found me, I was soaked in my own blood, my heart flatlined. She broke down, sobbing, and begged him for help over dozens of desperate phone calls. All she got was his angry, accusatory voice: “You can’t even handle something as simple as diverting the press? You’re better off dead!” He stormed into the house, raging, only to see… My mom cradling my ashes, wailing in agony. 1 “Snowflake, my baby girl…” After I died, my soul didn’t drift away. Instead, I was stuck here, tethered to this world. I watched my mom, a ghost of her former self, arrange my funeral. By the time she was done, it was past midnight. She slumped into her wheelchair, gently running her fingers over the urn containing my ashes, tears streaming down her face, turning into a torrent of grief. “Snowflake, without you, Mom can’t go on!” Her voice was hoarse, her eyes swollen and red. Heartbreak beyond words. Losing a child is the worst pain a parent can endure. Watching my mom so distraught and devastated, her hair turning white overnight, I felt a wave of regret wash over me. I knelt beside her, calling out, “Mom.” But I was dead; she couldn’t hear me. “I’m so sorry, Mom.” I collapsed, tears streaming down, turning into faint white smoke that vanished in an instant. “Snowflake?” My mom’s expression flickered, as if she sensed my presence, but at that exact moment… “Snowflake! Get your ass out here!” “Bang!” The door was kicked open, startling my mom. She looked up to see two uninvited guests: my husband, Shane Carter, and behind him, all doe-eyed and pitiful, was his precious Brittany Williams. Shane’s face was dark, his voice filled with barely suppressed rage: “Snowflake, you couldn’t even handle distracting the press? A pig is smarter than you! If it weren’t for your worthless ass, Brittany wouldn’t be so stressed that her depression has flared up!” Shane scanned the room, looking for me. Finding me gone, his anger flared even more. He kicked my belongings—things my mom had carefully arranged—across the room, and strode toward her. “You old bat, where’s that bitch Snowflake hiding? Where’d you stash her?!” Years of pent-up fear made me instinctively stand in front of my mom, glaring at him. “Snowflake…” My mom stared blankly at the urn, not moving. “She…she’s gone.” Her voice was raw, hoarse; she’d been crying all day and night, making it hard for her to even speak. Yet, when she mentioned my name, her eyes were soft. Brittany gasped, then looked at Shane, her eyes filled with tears. “I guess Snowflake doesn’t want to see me.” Hearing that, Shane frowned and glared at my mom, his voice a low growl: “You dried-up old hag, tell Snowflake to get out here and grovel, or she can forget about being Mrs. Carter!” “I’ll teach her some manners if you couldn’t!” Enough! Shane! I dedicated so many years to you, never letting you take your anger out on my mom. Now that I’m dead, you’re treating her like this? Furious, I clenched my fists, but I couldn’t touch him, not even a little. “Answer me, where is she?!” Shane slammed his hand on the table, and my mom flinched, clutching my clothes. The pain of losing her daughter made my gentle mom’s eyes turn red. She glared at Shane, saying each word with venom: “I’m telling you! Snowflake is dead!” Shane froze, even his breath stopping for a second. But the moment was broken by Brittany’s voice: “Mrs. Lee, even if you’re mad at Shane, you can’t curse Snowflake like that just to get his attention! Shane is Snowflake’s husband, after all. Squabbles are normal; you’re just stirring up trouble…” Brittany was being so fake. I wanted to rip her face off! But Shane ate it up. His face clouded over, and he looked up and down at my mom, a dark realization dawning on him. Don’t! I shouted at Shane! But he couldn’t hear me. Instead, he stepped closer and kicked my mom’s wheelchair. Stop it! Mom! I shouted, unable to do anything as my mom fell out of the wheelchair, her head hitting the table hard. I was so angry I could have killed him! “Shane, enough! You’ve ruined me! Mom isn’t lying!” Even as I screamed, I couldn’t lift my fallen mother. I couldn’t stop the enraged Shane. All I could do was watch as my soul passed right through him. Turning back, I saw Shane walk up to my mom, grab her by the neck, and lift her up. Blood trickled down my mom’s forehead, dripping onto Shane’s wrist. His veins bulged as he squeezed her purple neck, his teeth gritted, full of malice. “Call her. If she doesn’t show up in three minutes…” He slammed my mom against the wall. “I’ll make her watch you turn into ashes!” 2 My mom’s face was pale, nearly blue, from lack of air, making the blood smeared on her face even more prominent. I was frantically trying to beat on Shane. “Let her go! Shane! Let her go!” But over and over, I only managed to pass right through him. This was my mom, the person in the world who loved me the most, the person I cared about most! She was supposed to be enjoying her golden years, but Shane was torturing her like this. My fists hit Shane again and again. Even as I strained with all my might, I couldn’t touch my mom, couldn’t push Shane away. If…if I hadn’t died… Mom couldn’t see me, didn’t know I was there, right beside her. She bit her lip, glaring at Shane. Looking at the man who killed her daughter! Suddenly, she laughed, her eyes full of scorn. “What are you laughing at, you old bag?!” Shane was provoked by the laughter, tightening his grip on her neck. He shouted, “Call Snowflake!” “Don’t think she can run and leave you to take the fall. I have ways to make her come back, whether you can handle it or not!” “You can’t blame anyone but yourself; you’re her mother!” My mom’s face was purple, tears mixed with blood, and she barely had the strength to struggle. “Shane, you bastard! You’re choking my mom!” I screamed, struggled. Was Shane trying to kill my mom? Let go of her! “Shane, don’t.” Just as my mom was about to lose consciousness, Brittany spoke up. She patted Shane’s arm, her face full of concern, but also feigning offense. “Snowflake is just being a little stubborn. I’m the one being insensitive. Don’t get your hands dirty because of me.” Shane’s face softened slightly. He slowly released my mom. “Brittany, you’re too soft, letting Snowflake push you around!” “Don’t worry, I’ll settle this!” Shane finally let go of my mom, shaking his head in disgust. My mom was thrown to the floor, gasping for air, her eyes filled with hatred: “Scum! You have the nerve to show your face? To ask where Snowflake is?” “If it weren’t for you, Snowflake wouldn’t be dead!” “It’s your fault!” Her voice was weak, but she put all her effort into shouting. Hearing that, Shane kicked my mom hard. “Shut up, you old hag! Who said you could talk to me like that?” Shane looked down at my mom, remembering how annoying I was. “She won’t come out, huh?” He clenched his jaw. “Fine! Since you’re the one who birthed that bitch, you get what’s coming to her!” As my teeth clenched, Shane grabbed my mom by the hair. A woman past her prime, dragging two crippled legs, was dragged to Brittany. Then, he pressed my mom’s head down, hard. “Old dog, get on your knees!” “Beg Brittany for forgiveness!” “Mom!” My mom’s head slammed against the floor over and over… “Bang!” “Bang!” Even with her hair being pulled, my mom’s eyes were wide, glaring, shouting: “Kill me! Kill me if you have the guts! Then I can see Snowflake!” Blood streamed down my mom’s forehead. She screamed. Shane was furious, pressing her head harder, as if trying to smash her brains out. The floor was covered in blood. All my mom’s blood and tears. 3 I knelt on the floor, crying, my tears blurring my vision. I wanted to lift my mom up. But no matter how hard I tried, my hands only passed through her. I’m dead. Why am I already dead? Heaven, why do you deny me even this one simple request, to lift up my mom? I just wanted to help my mom, didn’t want to see her humiliated like this! I was going crazy! Why! Why wasn’t Shane the one who died? I’d never hated him so much! Not even when I caught him in bed with Brittany had I hated him this much! He killed me, and now he wanted to kill my mom! I wanted to kill him! Shane threw my mom to the side, then stomped on her. My mom cried out, spitting out teeth and blood. “Mom!” I watched Shane, crushing her face with his dirty shoe, his voice full of malice: “You old hag, will that bitch come out if I kill you?” Even as my mom’s face was distorted, she whispered: “She’s dead! You want to see her? Then go die!” Then my mom laughed. “Oh, Snowflake is here, watching me…watching you.” She laughed, looking at the urn on the table. Brittany looked at the urn, picked it up, and asked: “This is cute. Shane, can I use it to feed my dog?” “No!” My mom, suddenly struggling, screamed. Brittany squatted down, opened the urn, and frowned. “Ew, it stinks!” She patted my mom’s face, and blinked. “Mrs. Lee, this ash is nasty.” “I’ll just flush it down the toilet.” That wasn’t just my ashes, it was my mom’s life! “Ah!” My mom struggled, finally pushing Brittany away and grabbing the urn. Even covered in blood, my mom clutched the urn, holding it like a precious treasure. Shane helped Brittany up, his eyes full of anger. He kicked my mom, grabbed the urn, and placed it on the windowsill. My mom couldn’t feel the pain, she was pleading: “Please, don’t throw it away. It’s Snowflake’s ashes!” Over and over, she slammed her head on the ground, begging Shane for mercy. “Mom!” She was doing this for me! The sound of her head hitting the floor was shattering my heart! “Ashes?” Brittany looked at Shane. Shane was staring at the urn, his face blank. My mom was crying, begging, even as blood covered her face, she was pleading: “It’s Snowflake’s ashes! Give them back!” Seeing Shane wasn’t moving, she turned to Brittany: “Shane said you were kind. Please, ask him to give back the ashes!” “I’m old, I’m trash, I’m begging you, give me the ashes!” My mom slapped herself, “I’m trash! I’m trash!” I screamed, wanting to tell her not to beg. But my mom… She wouldn’t give up, even at the very end. “Shane, Mrs. Lee said it’s Snowflake’s ashes! Since it’s so important, give it back.” Brittany grabbed the urn from Shane, standing in front of the window, tossing it up and down. She was trying to kill my mom! I was clenching my fist. “Shane, you don’t believe it’s Snowflake’s ashes, right?” Shane hesitated, making Brittany nervous. Then, she looked at my mom begging her. Her lips curved into a smile, placing the urn on the windowsill. “Mrs. Lee, if you want it, come get it.” Brittany was a demon! My mom was paralyzed and couldn’t move! She couldn’t even stand, how could she get the urn? But my mom, would. “Mom…” I started to see a glow, begging, but seeing my mom crawling on the floor. The distance was so far for my mom! Her fingers dug into the wall, staring at my ashes. Her hand, finally on the urn, had it taken away. “Her ashes? You think I believe that? You old hag!” He threw the urn out the window. “Snowflake!” My mom gasped, leaning on the windowsill, trying to grab it. The urn fell, and my mom smiled. “Snowflake, I’m coming…” She jumped over the windowsill, falling from the twentieth floor! “Mom!” My eyes grew large, and my body was becoming a real body again, from a transparent form. Shane turned around, seeing my form, staring at me. “Snowflake?!”

  • Mother-in-Law Dying in Accident, Husband Tutors Mistress’s Son

The day my mother-in-law had her accident, it was critical. Only my husband, Mark, had her rare blood type. But Mark, the professor, was busy tutoring his high school sweetheart’s kid in elementary school essay writing. Last time, I got to Mark just in time, and they managed to save Mom’s life. But then his ex’s little hellion messed with the electrical panel, and the kitchen exploded. She and her kid died in the fire. After I took care of Mom until she got out of the hospital, Mark kidnapped me, wrapped me in firecrackers and dynamite. I was blown to pieces, but that wasn’t enough for him. He stabbed me over and over. “It’s all your fault Sarah and little Timmy are dead!” he screamed. “Why do they have to die, and you get to live the good life? I’m going to make you feel the pain they felt!” I woke up on the day of Mom’s accident. This time, I blocked Mark on everything. Turned off my phone. This time, maybe his ex’s kid’s essay will actually be good. 1 The harsh smell of disinfectant snapped me back. I turned and saw Mom being wheeled off the ambulance. I had to be dreaming. As a doctor, my first instinct was to check her injuries. Just like before, massive internal bleeding. She needed a transfusion, fast, or she was a goner. I knew Mark was the only one who matched her blood type, but this time, I’d do my duty as a doctor and nothing more. “Get her to surgery. Run a blood panel. Notify the family.” The blood results came back. A young nurse asked anxiously: “Dr. Lewis, the patient has a rare blood type, O negative. We don’t have any in the blood bank. What do we do?” I put down my scalpel, took off my mask. “We wait for the family. Hope someone’s a match.” The hospital contacted my father-in-law, Tom, who came running in, breathless. “Honey, what happened?” “Dad, Mom was in a car wreck. Hit by a semi. I already started surgery to stop the bleeding, but she’s lost a lot of blood. Needs a transfusion.” Tom, usually so steady, started pacing. “What are we going to do? I’m not a match!” Then his eyes lit up. “Mark! He’s the same type as your mother! Where is he? Did you call him?” My voice went up, full of fake distress, tears welling up. “Dad, it was so crazy. My phone died. I didn’t have a chance to call Mark.” Tom shoved his phone into my hand. “I’m going to pay the bill. You call him! Tell him to get over here, now! “What good is a son if he doesn’t show up when it counts?” Looking at his phone, I felt a wave of dizziness. My husband, who swore he’d love me forever, had completely changed after his old flame came back. I called in sick so he could pick up his ex’s kid from school. When I tried to talk to him, he just waved me off, annoyed. “What’s wrong with you, Claire? I’m good to you, aren’t I? I bring you dinner every night!” “Learn to be grateful!” But the dinners he brought back were leftovers from his ex and her kid. My husband, who never lifted a finger at home, was now cleaning his ex’s house every day. I, his wife, couldn’t even ask a question without him calling me a pain. I thought if I just stayed quiet, he might at least glance back at our family. Keep us together. Instead, I got brutally murdered. The memory of that pain snapped me back to reality. I grabbed Tom’s phone, hit record, and dialed Mark’s number. His voice came on: “Hey, Dad, what’s up?” 2 “It’s me. Mom’s in a bad wreck and she’s in surgery. You need to get here now.” Mark’s tone shifted the second he heard my voice. “Why are you using Dad’s phone? What are you trying to pull?” “Claire, didn’t I tell you not to call me today? I’m busy! Really busy!” His voice was getting louder. “And now you’re wishing Mom would get hurt? You’re so messed up! This is exactly why I can’t stand you!” “If you keep bothering me, I won’t come home for a week. Try me!” He hung up before I could say anything. Tom came back, hurrying, asking if Mark was on his way. “He said I was wishing Mom would get hurt, said he didn’t believe it was real, and told me not to bother him.” I started to cry as I handed him the phone, playing back the recording. Tom’s face turned red. “That ungrateful kid! I’ll call him myself!” He dialed Mark’s number, hitting speakerphone. It rang a few times, then Mark’s voice exploded through: “Claire, I told you! Don’t bother me. Can’t you understand plain English?” “I’m telling you, I’m not coming home all week, you negative hag. Get lost!” Then he hung up. Tom’s hand froze in mid-air. His mouth hung open, unable to believe those words came from his son. Just then, a nurse ran over, frantic. “Dr. Lewis, the patient’s blood pressure is crashing! The wound’s bleeding again! The machines can’t take it!” “Without a transfusion in thirty minutes, we’re going to lose her!” Tom snapped back to reality, trembling. I cried, blaming myself. “Dad, I’m sorry. It’s all my fault. Mark thought I was trying to ruin his tutoring session with his ex’s kid. He wouldn’t believe me.” “What are we going to do? Mom’s fading fast.” Tom patted my shoulder, shaking. “It’s not your fault, honey. We failed to raise that boy right.” “I’m calling him again. There’s still half an hour. Your mother can still be saved.” Tom dialed Mark’s number again and again, but he didn’t pick up. Tom got so mad he threw the phone on the ground, collapsing into a chair. I helped him up. “Dad, call from the hospital phone. He might believe it then.” “If I call, he won’t believe me. Use the hospital phone.” Tom grabbed onto that hope, nodding, and hurried with me to the desk. I dialed Mark’s number on the landline. It only rang a few times before he answered. Before he could say anything, Tom shouted: “You ungrateful son! Get to the hospital! Your mother’s in emergency!” “If you don’t get here in half an hour, your mother’s dead!” “If you screw this up, I will never recognize you as my son again!” Tom’s voice was shaking with desperation, but Mark didn’t seem to hear any of it. He just sighed. “Dad, it’s one thing for Claire to say Mom’s in an accident, but why are you going along with it?” “You always take her side. That’s why she gets away with everything.” “I listened to you. I married the woman you wanted. Now, can’t I do one thing for myself? Why are you helping an outsider keep me from my happiness?” “Put Claire on. She’s lost it, trying to stop me from doing what I want!” I snatched the phone, my voice completely calm. “Mark, we’re not kidding. Dad’s not helping me sabotage your happiness.” “This is real.” Then, a little boy’s voice came through. “Uncle Mark, I still don’t know how to write it. I don’t want to learn! You have to help me with my homework! If you don’t help me, I won’t let you see my mom!” The kid kept whining. Mark’s voice suddenly turned soft. “Okay, okay, I’ll help you. But it’s our little secret, okay? Don’t tell your mom.” Then a woman’s voice: “Mark, is everything alright? You’ve been on the phone a lot.” “Why don’t you take a break, I can order takeout for Timmy and me, you go handle your business.” Mark said: “Sarah, how can you say that? I don’t want you and Timmy eating takeout!” “You and Timmy can’t eat takeout. I’ll be up all night worrying. Sit down and rest. You’re not feeling well, you need to rest.” “It’s nothing. Just the crazy woman bothering me! She’s like a rabid dog. I wouldn’t be surprised if she gets into an accident tomorrow and dies!” Mark gritted his teeth into the phone, his voice full of hate. “Claire, I’m telling you, you can scream all you want, I’m not letting you win!” “You wishing Mom gets in a wreck? I’ll deal with that when I get home!” “If you call again, I’m done. We’re getting divorced!” He hung up. I had hit speakerphone, and everyone heard. Everyone knew there was no point in calling again. He wasn’t coming. Tom felt so humiliated, his face turned red. He leaned against the wall, muttering, “Our family’s cursed.” People started whispering around us. Not loud, but I heard every word. “Oh my god, I didn’t know Dr. Lewis’ husband was like that! Cheating and proud of it!” “Right? Dr. Lewis is such a strong woman. Works so hard, so talented, so kind, one of the people I look up to the most. I can’t believe her home life is like this.” “I know, right? No one’s perfect, I guess. But still, so embarrassing. I’d want to crawl into a hole.” “But it’s not Dr. Lewis’ fault! It’s that guy. He’s worse than an animal. Won’t even save his own mother.” “Poor woman. Having a son like that.” I just stood there, silent, unable to explain. They were right. I married a monster. Now everyone knew. If this was the old me, I would have been ashamed and quit. Found a hole to crawl into. Never raised my head again. But I was dead once already. If I didn’t make something of this second chance, I might as well have stayed dead in that room. The more people knew what Mark was, the better for me. 3 Time was passing fast. More than ten minutes. Even if Mark had a change of heart, it would be too late. Tom asked me, his voice hopeless, “Honey, is there anything we can do?” “I’d give her all my blood if it would help. Even if it’s not a match, maybe if she gets enough…” He rolled up his sleeve, offering his arm. “Take my blood, Claire. There must be something you can do.” Seeing him like that got to me. Suddenly, I had an idea! Mark once told me he donated blood to a student of his who had leukemia! It was a big deal at the school. Lots of teachers and students got tested, but only Mark matched. He got an award for being a lifesaver. The student’s name was Kevin. After Mark donated blood, he still needed more treatment. He couldn’t afford it, so I gave him eight grand to help. And the best part was, he rented an apartment near the hospital for his treatments! It could work! Mom could still be saved! If she was, I was done. I would divorce Mark without a second thought. I grabbed my phone, turned it on. A few texts popped up, but I ignored them, found Kevin’s number. My heart was pounding. Would he answer? The phone rang and rang, but no one picked up. I tried again, thinking he might have missed it. Still nothing. My heart sank. Then, the phone clicked on. “Hello? Mrs. Lewis?” Kevin answered! I said, “Kevin, it’s me. Can you come to the hospital right now? My mother-in-law’s been in a bad car accident. She needs blood, and you’re a match. Please, Kevin, help me save her!” Kevin sighed. “Mr. Lewis was right about you.” “I should have known you were this kind of person.” “You were always a jealous woman and would do anything, Mr. Lewis called to tell me not to answer your calls and that if you did call, you would wish that your Mother In Law was in an accident.” “I knew better than to answer a call from you.” My heart turned to ice. My blood felt like it was freezing. “No Kevin, you need to listen to me, I swear I am not lying or pulling a prank, who would joke about such a thing!” Kevin interrupted me rudely. “Mrs. Lewis, just to stop Mr. Lewis from doing what he loves you are willing to do anything, I never thought you were such a woman, how can Mr. Lewis stand living with you.” “Who do you think I trust more the person who saved my life or a jealous woman?” “Kevin, Mr. Lewis may have saved your life, but I paid for your last five rounds of chemo.” “Without that money, you would not be alive today.” Kevin turned rude. “Mr. Lewis is your husband, so the money is his so he paid for the chemo and you had nothing to do with it!” “Stop bothering me, I am blocking this number, I never want to speak to you again.” Kevin ended the call and every bit of hope died with it. Tom looked at me, “Is there nothing else we can do.” I shook my head as tears streamed down my face. For the first time, I saw a very distraught Tom burst into tears. Tom and my Mother In Law were always nice to me, which is why I stayed with Mark. I am finally moving on. I comforted Tom as we waited for my mother in law to die. My Mother In Law died and I was filled with complex emotions. I hated Mark even more. 4 Tom could not take it anymore and collapsed at the hospital. I got Tom admitted into the hospital. Tom grabbed my hand and told me that he would handle the funeral. “My dear, I had no idea that he was treating you so badly.” “If had I known, I would have kicked him out of the house. I hugged Tom and told him that he should not blame himself. “It is ok, both of you were good to me and I am grateful.” We got married because he was nice and told me that he would love me forever. Tom and I were happy so when Mark asked me to marry him I agreed. Mark told me that we should name are children Claire. I asked why and he told me that Claire was the only sunshine in his life. Later, I learned that his high school girlfriend’s name was Claire. His online username was Claire and I had always thought it was cute. I made him change the name, but he refused and told me that he had that handle for many years. When we would argue he would always change it back. After we got married Mark started treating me worse and worse. When I asked him why he told me that he was no longer playing the same character. “You are average and should be happy that I gave you a ring and a house.” The days turned into years and there were many bad days. As I walked out of the hospital room exhausted I thought about all the text messages that I received earlier. I looked at the first message and saw many photos of Mark cleaning Sarah’s house as well as some photos of them in bed together. The last photo was of Mark on his knees with a sign that stated he would do anything to make Sarah happy. The message stated that Mark was too tired from doing housework and having sex with her to help get his mother. How dare she! I looked at all these photos and wanted to destroy her. I always thought that Mark was cheating and he was wrong. The other woman was just as sick. She sent me all these photos just to taunt me. Watch out because I am winning this game. Sarah and Mark I am coming for you. 5 Mark had been gone for 3 nights and I was helping with my mother in laws funeral. I had to gather all her important documents and found out that Sarah’s message was the reason she died. Sarah sent her all the photos before Mark drove 160 miles an hour and crashed into a semi-truck. I had to do something to Sarah for killing my mother in law. The police stated that there was nothing that they could do. The police told me that I had no case even with the message that she sent because Sarah would just claim that she was joking. The police told me that I would have a weak case with no malice. I told the police that it does not matter to me that she gets away with this. I need to do something to get my revenge. I just have to wait and play my cards right. A week later it was time for my mother in laws funeral and Mark came back just in time. Mark wore the same clothes he wore for 7 days and smelled awful. He dropped a bag of women and children’s laundry on the floor. I saw many women’s undergarments in the bag and I was disgusted. I had no idea whether Mark was doing this to please Sarah or if they had a fetish for wearing dirty clothes. Mark pointed at the clothes and told me to wash them. I pulled out my phone and turned on the hidden camera that I installed the day before. You do not know how long I have waited for this and how bad I want to tell you what I really think about you. “Do not speak to me, you never told me that you were sleeping with a child’s mother and for the last week you have been running around with your whore. You better be glad that I do not divorce you.” Mark yelled who the hell do you think you are talking to I will divorce you if you say that again. Claire was so angry and did not know what else to do. I looked at Mark and told him that my mother in law had died.

  • Global Freeze, I Lead My Boyfriend’s Family to Survival

The world was freezing over, and my boyfriend, using a vacation as an excuse, wanted to bring his entire family to stay in my newly bought mountain cabin. His dad was a slob, spitting everywhere and wiping his nose with his hand. I tried to patiently explain proper hygiene, but his mom attacked me with a needle, saying I had no manners and didn’t respect my elders. They kicked me out onto the porch, refusing to let me eat and telling me I needed to learn some manners. My boyfriend’s younger brother played the nice guy, deliberately bringing me undercooked green beans, causing me to get food poisoning with violent vomiting and diarrhea. He then ratted me out to his family, saying I was trying to steal food and he had been so smart to catch me. My boyfriend wouldn’t even listen to my explanation, calling me a manipulative bitch. They beat me and kicked me, not caring if I lived or died, and threw me out of the house, telling me to go find food. I froze to death, full of anger and resentment, right outside my own front door. I woke up with a jolt, staring at the TV screen showing a low-temperature warning. I grabbed my phone and called my boyfriend. This time around, I was going to make his whole family pay. 1 “The National Weather Service is predicting a major cold front coming in tomorrow, the strongest of the year so far.” The familiar weather report played on the TV. A wave of heat rushed through me, my chest burning with rage. After a brief but intense bout of pain, I fell to the floor, gasping for air. I opened my eyes, exhausted, to find myself lying in the living room of my mountain cabin. Unlike the image I remembered, filled with trash and grime, the room was clean, with a soft, new sheepskin rug. I had been reborn, ten days before the disaster. My parents bought this cabin for me. It wasn’t huge, one bedroom, two bathrooms, a living room, and a kitchen, but it was quiet and peaceful, with a gorgeous view of the mountain stream through the massive picture windows. My parents were always busy with work, so they tried to make up for it with material things. They bought this place because it was beautiful, secluded, and had all the latest amenities. I came up here for vacations and to relax whenever I could. But little did they know, it would become my tomb. The hunger I had felt before dying flooded my brain. I ran to the fridge, grabbed a chilled ham hock, and started stuffing it into my mouth, washing it down with a bottle of ice-cold Coke. I didn’t even care about the cold air blasting from the refrigerator. Compared to the arctic freeze that had killed me, this was practically a sauna. Just as I was indulging in my newfound happiness, a familiar ringtone, his ringtone, made me instinctively hide the food. That sound was like the Grim Reaper himself, bringing back memories of my hellish life. Last time, my boyfriend, Chad, had called me wanting to bring his family to my place. [“Babe, I heard you bought a cabin up in the mountains. Can my family come stay for a few days?”] [“You know, my parents are getting older, and they want to take a vacation. They think hotels are too expensive and would like to come stay at your place.”] [“You don’t want to disappoint them the first time they meet you, do you?”] I had been so head-over-heels for Chad that I didn’t think twice before agreeing. Looking back, I realized how messed up it was. How did he know I had bought the cabin? And how did he know the address? I had only told my best friend, Megan, who worked at the same company. We lived in the same apartment building, carpooled to work every day, and went out for drinks and movies on weekends. A couple of times Megan had wanted to come with me to the cabin, but it was my secret escape, so I always made excuses. Megan acted a little hurt, but she never said anything. Chad and I had gone to the same college. We ended up working in the same city after graduation. I was blinded by love. Thinking about it now, the warning signs were there all along. He’d show up at my office to take me to lunch. Whenever I got back to my apartment after lunch, Megan was always out. She’d make up all sorts of excuses for not being home. One time I was leaving to grab a coffee and overheard Megan on a voice call with a guy, and the voice sounded a lot like Chad’s. She looked up and saw me and panicked. She stammered and said it was a friend from years ago. Looking back, their acting was terrible. Those two had been hooking up behind my back for who knows how long. 2 Now, remembering those times, I hated myself for being so clueless, for not seeing through their lies. Last time, to make a good impression on his parents, I paid for their tickets and even drove to the bus station to pick them up. I didn’t want them to get lost, so I made sure I got all of their dietary restrictions and preferences. I acted like a servant catering to a master, trying to make them happy. But that family of entitled jerks treated me like I was beneath them. They ate my food, used my things, and constantly criticized everything I did. If they were unhappy about something, they threw a fit. When the cold wave hit, they kicked me out of my own house because I didn’t have enough food prepared for five people, they told me I wasn’t allowed back until I found more food. No matter how much I pounded on the door and screamed for help, they wouldn’t open it. Meanwhile, they were laughing and carrying on like nothing was wrong. [“It doesn’t matter how much money she has, my son tricked her. You have good taste, she is dumb enough to give him money and sex. You should marry Megan.”] [“If we let her join our family, she’ll probably give birth to a dumb grandkid.”] Outside, I shivered from the cold and from the anger that was building inside. Chad had been cheating on me with Megan all along. They just saw me as a walking ATM. I wasn’t going to run away this time. I had been betrayed and tortured by the people I trusted the most, and I had died of starvation and exposure. They were going to experience the same pain. I forced myself to calm down and answered the phone, acting excited. [“Really? Your whole family is coming?”] My hand was shaking, my whole body trembling with rage. [“Don’t worry, baby. I’ll make sure your parents are happy!”] I heard faint praise in the background. [“My son is so awesome! Just like his old man! He can just pick up any girl and she’ll provide for them.”] I pretended not to hear it and kept up the perfect girlfriend act. [“When are you guys coming? I can’t wait to meet your parents for the first time.”] Chad, emboldened by his family’s flattery and my obvious eagerness, became even more arrogant, sure that he had me completely under his thumb. [“We’ll be there in nine days. You better be ready, you hear? My parents already think of you as their daughter-in-law.”] I agreed, sounding like a dutiful wife. After hanging up, I grabbed a banana and pretended it was Chad. I chopped it into pieces. After releasing my anger, I mixed the chopped fruit with yogurt and lay down on the soft couch, watching trashy TV and eating. In this familiar, safe place, I drifted off to sleep. It was quiet and peaceful. I woke up when the sun filled the living room with golden light. The long-lost feeling of comfort made me wonder if the apocalypse had all been a nightmare. But then I looked at my phone, and saw the disaster warnings. My pain had been real. The cold wave was coming, bringing power outages, no running water, and freezing temperatures. This wasn’t a joke. Luckily, I had nine days to prepare before Chad and his family arrived. This time, I wouldn’t let them get away with anything. 3 The weather was getting colder, and the streets were mostly deserted. The supermarket was even quieter than usual; people weren’t worried and weren’t stocking up. After all, the weather report only called for a cold front. Nobody expected an apocalyptic freeze. I grabbed two shopping carts and headed straight for the frozen foods. Every kind of frozen food imaginable – dumplings, soups, noodles – anything that was easy to cook. I also grabbed long lasting fresh vegetables. When I was a kid we would save vegetables like this to eat in the spring. Everything went into my cart. I didn’t forget the snacks! Anything that looked good, I tossed into the cart. The cashier was in shock. If I hadn’t been paying for everything and acting normal, she probably would have thought I was robbing the place. After buying about two months’ worth of supplies, I told her I was throwing a big party and needed all this food. I paid extra to have the grocery store deliver it to my house. At the same time, I hired a construction crew to do some rush work on my cabin. The security system was already state-of-the-art. My parents had it installed because I was living alone. The main purpose of this construction was to install hidden cameras around the house. The most important part was the basement. I planned to live in the basement during the disaster. It had been built to shelter from storms, so it was very safe. The insulation was much better than in the main house. The basement would be warmer and use less energy. The basement had several exits, all hidden and disguised. Nobody would ever find them. If something went wrong, I could escape quickly. I didn’t care about the basement’s looks; I just wanted it done fast. I moved all my furniture, toys, collectibles, and cosmetics down there. I also installed a space heater and a wall of monitors so I could keep an eye on everything happening in the house. The passageway leading from the house to the basement was specially camouflaged. Nobody would find it except me. 4 Nine days later, Chad and his family were supposed to arrive at the cabin. I lay back on the lounge chair in the garden, soaking up the sun. It would be a while before I saw it again. My phone rang. [“Where the hell are you?”] I made my voice sound confused and frantic. [“What’s wrong, baby? Why aren’t you here yet?”] I swirled the wine in my glass and lounged in the chair. [“Where’s your house? The address you gave us is in the middle of nowhere! Are you messing with me, Megan?”] I bit back a laugh. [“Aren’t you on Peach Tree Lane? That’s where my house is.”] Chad was livid. [“Are you crazy? You wrote PINE Tree Lane, which is half a mountain away from Peach Tree Lane!”] I heard a chorus of angry voices on the other end of the phone. [“What kind of idiot did you pick up? She can’t even get the directions right.”] [“Chad, when you get there, smack her a few times to teach her a lesson.”] I ignored the angry accusations and pretended to be sorry. [“Oh, no! You need to turn around and come back! It’s going to get dark soon and you’ll have to spend the night on the mountain.”] I hung up, leaving them stranded in the middle of nowhere. Knowing they had to hike for hours in the cold and damp mountains to find a ride made my dinner taste extra delicious. It was pitch black, and I thought they were going to be stuck in the mountains all night. Then the caretaker called. On the road to my cabin, I had built a small, temporary cabin and hired a caretaker to register all visitors. I paid an actor who doubled as a bodyguard. I expected this family to be a handful. When I got there, they were covered in frost, their noses bright red, shivering and stomping their feet. I couldn’t stop the corners of my mouth from turning up. I almost burst out laughing. I lowered my head and put on a look of concern and regret, running to meet them to cover my glee. After composing myself, I looked at them with a face full of guilt. [“Aunt, Uncle! I was waiting for you all day! Why didn’t you call me when you got here?”] Chad saw me and came at me, his face red with anger. [“You stupid woman! How could you write down the wrong address? We’ve been hiking forever! I froze my ass off!”] The bodyguard had been waiting for this. He grabbed Chad’s arm and squeezed it hard. Chad screamed. [“Who do you think you are, putting your hands on my boss?”] The bodyguard was huge, six-foot-five and 250 pounds. He had a deep voice and a menacing presence. [“If my boss loses a hair on her head, you and your family are done for in this godforsaken place.”] The bodyguard stepped back and stood in front of me, staring Chad down. Chad rubbed his aching wrist, swallowed hard, and took a step back. I hid behind the bodyguard, looking upset. [“I didn’t mean to do it! I’m not good with directions. I missed you so much! I kept heating up dinner, waiting for you and your parents to arrive.”] Chad knew he couldn’t lay a hand on me. There was dinner waiting. He grudgingly accepted my apology. [“It’s a good thing you know what’s good for you. Take us to eat. We’ve been starving.”] I forced a smile and led them to the cabin. Because it was a family meal, I had the bodyguard take a break in the guardhouse. They hadn’t eaten all day, and I didn’t want to waste the special meal I had prepared.

  • Fake Roommate’s Bad Luck

My new roommate was a total phony. Whenever we were on our phones, she’d sneak up behind us, watching our texts. She’d always be the first to grab a bite of anyone’s snacks, but she’d hide in bed after lights out to eat her own. She never bought shampoo or body wash. It was always, “Can I borrow your body wash?”, “Can I use your shampoo?”, “Can I have some of your laundry detergent?”, and then, eventually, “Do you have any tampons I can use?”… I bought a MIUMIU bag, and she kept saying how much she loved it. A few days later, she bought the same one! Turns out, she switched my real bag with her fake one, then accused me of using a knockoff! We had a huge fight, and I demanded she give me back my bag. Instead, she cut my real bag to shreds! Furious, I went to the Resident Advisor (RA) to complain. The RA told her to pay me back, but she started spreading rumors behind my back that I was a prostitute and a mistress! She even leaked my phone number, so I kept getting texts asking how much I charged! I was livid. I grabbed her and demanded she clear my name. She just laughed and mocked me, saying: “You think you’re so rich? Showing off in front of me? What do you have to show off now? I can’t stand you! Why should you have a good life?!” I realized she was doing it on purpose. I pounced on her! We got into a scuffle, and we both fell out the window. When I woke up, I was back when she first moved into our dorm room… 1 “We’ve got a student transferring into this dorm. Make her feel welcome.” Our RA, Ms. Evans, introduced us to Brittany. She gave us a shy smile. “Sarah, can you help Brittany settle in? She’s new to the class, and she might need some help adjusting. You guys are in the same club, so it should be easy for you to get along.” I gave the RA a polite, but apologetic smile: “Sorry, Ms. Evans, I’m busy with my senior project right now. I don’t have time. Maybe Ashley and Brittany can hang out. The three of us are in the same club.” Last time around, Brittany spread rumors about me, and Ashley was right there to add fuel to the fire. I couldn’t figure out what I had done to make Ashley do that, stab me in the back like that. But whatever. Let the phony and the backstabber fight it out. Last time, Brittany and I had been pretty friendly, at first. We went to the cafeteria together. I’d save us a table, and she’d get the food. I told her I hated cilantro and to get anything without it. She came back with a cilantro chicken burrito! I asked her what was up. Did she forget? Brittany looked at me with big, innocent eyes. “I didn’t forget! But, Sarah, the cilantro chicken burrito is so good! Just eat the chicken, don’t eat the cilantro! It’s fine!” I had to go get another burrito. Later, I told her that Professor Miller wanted us to come to room 503 in the library at 5 PM tomorrow for a meeting. She blinked at me, all innocent, and asked, “Why does she want us to come at 5 AM?” I told her it was 5 PM. She almost started to cry. “It’s already 6! Why are you telling me now?” I took a deep breath and told her it was 5 PM tomorrow. She looked down and mumbled, “Okay.” I thought that was it, but a minute later, she looked up and asked: “What room did you say?” “503!” “In the library or the student union?” Me: … “The library!” I thought I was being clear, but she didn’t show up to the meeting. Professor Miller called her and told her to come. When she finally got there, she accused me in front of everyone of deliberately trying to exclude her and not telling her about the meeting! I was so mad. She was such a phony! A phony who couldn’t understand a word you said! After that, our relationship went downhill fast, and it ended with both of us falling out the window. This time, I’d just leave her to Ashley. Let those two bitches tear each other apart. 2 Like attracts like, and Brittany and Ashley hit it off immediately. Ashley helped her unpack, and they huddled together, gossiping and giggling. I figured they were just two birds of a feather, and they could keep all their drama between them. But Brittany was a phony through and through. She was impossible to deal with! Soon, everyone in the dorm was sick of her! Every night, she’d stay up until all hours, either watching TV or playing video games. And when she played games, she used one of those clicky keyboards, and it was so loud, it kept everyone awake. And she always got up at 3 or 4 AM to use the bathroom. The toilet flushed loud, waking up the whole dorm. Being woken up in the middle of the night sucked! It was hard to go back to sleep! We had to get up and go to class the next morning. How could we handle it? Me and my other roommate, Chloe, decided to have a talk with her. We tried to be nice and told her to keep it down at night. Brittany burst into tears. “Chloe, Sarah, if you have a problem with me, just tell me! You don’t have to do this!” Ashley chimed in, sticking up for her. “Yeah, come on, we’re roommates! Why are you being so petty? Brittany just got up to pee! It’s a human need!” Chloe and I looked at each other, getting even angrier. You’re not the one getting woken up every night! You sleep like a rock and snore! Brittany heard Ashley’s words and got even bolder. “Well, I haven’t said anything about you guys getting up at 7:30 in the morning, making all that noise and waking me up! We’re roommates, shouldn’t we be understanding of each other’s schedules?” WHAT?! We got up at 7:30 because we had to go to our early-morning class! Was that wrong? Chloe was speechless. I had a sudden sense of kinship with her. The argument went nowhere. Brittany even started dropping things on purpose when she got up in the middle of the night, making more noise! Chloe and I bought earplugs to try and deal with it. Chloe thought we should try to be tolerant. After all, we were roommates. But I knew Brittany was just going to get worse. The higher they rise, the harder they fall! I was just waiting for her to dig her own grave. 3 After about a month, it was time to pay the electricity bill. Usually, we just split it evenly. But of course, Brittany had to make a scene. “I’m not paying! I never turn on the lights in the dorm, and I charge my phone and laptop in class. I barely use any electricity. Why should I have to pay as much as you guys?” Chloe and I were stunned. “Didn’t you get any use of the lights? Didn’t you feel the AC?” Brittany rolled her eyes. “I didn’t ask you to turn on the lights and AC! You decided to do it. Why should I have to pay for it?” Chloe was furious. “Then leave when we turn on the lights and AC! Don’t enjoy the results of our money!” Brittany looked at us with her innocent eyes. “What do you mean? Are you trying to kick me out of the dorm? I paid my rent. Why shouldn’t I be allowed to stay here?” What kind of logic was that?! She was a phony! I was sure of it! I couldn’t hold back anymore. “Nobody’s trying to kick you out, but you need to pay your share! Are you that broke? Can’t you afford a few bucks for electricity? Are you a freakin’ beggar?” Brittany started crying even louder. “You’re insulting me! How could you say that!” I laughed. “I’m insulting you? Look at what you’re doing!” I stormed to the closet and pulled out the laundry machine. “Brittany! I’ve never met someone so gross! How long have you left your clothes in the washing machine! It smells, you know!” Brittany rolled her eyes and covered her face. “Waaaaa… You look down on me!” Chloe saw the situation in the washing machine and got mad too. Before Brittany came, we bought the washing machine all together! It was ok for her to use it without paying for it, but she didn’t even dry the clothes she washed, just letting them stink. And she also used our washing machine to wash her shoes! Ugh! It was too gross for us to use the washing machine anymore! Chloe couldn’t stand it anymore. She grabbed one of the wet towels in the washing machine, a towel that smelled gross. She used two fingers to drag it into Brittany’s bed: “Smell it! Smell this gross stink! Who would look up to you now?! Your mom would look down on you!” I looked at Brittany with contempt. “I agree. You didn’t even pay for our washing machine! Why we should let you use our washing machine!” Brittany shrieked that we were bullying her. She ran out of the room, causing the other students to watch us. I intentionally looked at the door and said: “Brittany! Don’t say we bully you! Who has ever heard of a roommate who doesn’t share the electricity? By the way, your clothes smell! You let them rot in the washing machine!” Last time, everyone trusted Brittany and complained about me. But this time, I took the first step and made everyone know what kind of guy Brittany was! 4 Ashley must have said something to her. Brittany came back as if nothing had happened. She didn’t act politely. She still focused on our stuff. I knew that she did this, so I hurried to store my expensive Estee Lauder products. I put a bottle of SK-II product on my desk. I put hydrogen peroxide in the bottle. Let her steal it! Humph! Let her make her face ugly! But Chloe didn’t know what to do. She carelessly put her Clarins products on the desk. Brittany despised Ashley’s cheap skin-care products. Brittany started using the products Chloe bought and even used Chloe’s cleanser and toothpaste. Eww! She even applied Chloe’s cream on her feet! She used the hand that she used to rub the skin to apply the cream on her face! So gross! Last time, she must have done the same thing to me, so I was even more disgusted. Before I knew it, my face was closed to her foot skin. Yuck! Moreover, she was sharing the products she stole with Ashley! Ashley even used the cream that Brittany applied to her feet! Wow! Who were these garbage people? Did they even have a conscience? I laughed with anger. That’s why Ashley said bad things to me last time. Ashley even used the skin-care products that Brittany stole! They were so cunning! Last time, I killed Brittany, and I didn’t settle my account with Ashley! This time, they would never get away with this! I secretly took videos of her stealing the products and sharing them with Ashley. Then, I sent the videos to Chloe. 5 Chloe was furious. She couldn’t believe that Brittany was stealing our products. She pulled my hands and asked: “Is Brittany a beggar? Does she have a problem in her head? She stole my skin-care products and my toothpaste! Also, she used her foot to rub the skin, so gross! I will ruin her face!” She bought new products to replace the stolen ones and locked all of our skin-care products and wash-care products. When Brittany noticed that we locked our products, she even had the nerve to ask: “Sarah, Chloe, why did you lock your products? Who do you want to prevent?” I rolled my eyes. “Can you guess?” Brittany said: “Anyway, you are rich, so you should give us some, what’s the matter, you are stingy.” I said unhappily: “What about we are rich? Our money is earned by our parents! Our money is not from the wind! Our money is not for the thieves who take others’ products without permission!” Chloe agreed and said: “Some people’s faces are thick! They use other people’s products without permission. They use other people’s products as if their products were free! So gross!” Brittany kept silent. After a while, she came back with two bags of fruit tea. She gave us one cup of fruit tea: “I felt bad for that thing. I want to buy you some drinks so that you won’t be angry.” She gave us drinks of the top brands, each worth thirty dollars. She put straws into the drinks and gave us the drinks. “I want to say sorry to you, you can taste the drink, it is so delicious.” She added that there were grapefruits and strawberries in the drinks and that the drinks were super delicious. Brittany smiled and said: “There are grapefruits and strawberries in the drinks, and the drinks are super delicious, right?” Chloe’s expression changed. “Didn’t you say there were no citrus products?” Brittany winked her eyes: “Right, there are no oranges, but the grapefruits are not oranges.” Chloe’s face became red. “Quick, call 911. I am so allergic to citrus products, and I will be breathless! Quick call 911!” My face became pale. Severe allergic reaction will kill people! While I was calling 911, Brittany said: “Is that so serious? Is she acting? I only added some grapefruit juice. She is acting so scary, trying to deceive someone.” I was both angry and nervous and pointed at her nose: “If she has a problem, you will be in trouble!”

  • My Husband is a Mega Celeb

After secretly marrying an eSports King, I’m owning all the fangirls My sister-in-law’s rant about me went viral. “She’s using her pregnancy as an excuse to act like a queen! She’s making you rub her feet every day! You married a freakin’ servant!” “I like it!” In the video, the eSports Prince was ordering Epsom salts online. That night, a curvy eSports streamer fired back with a pregnancy test picture. “Foot rubs are nothing. You should see him washing my whole body!” The internet exploded! Everyone praised Sarah for being a boss. I slapped the arm of the guy rubbing my feet, Nate. “Why didn’t I know you were giving other people body washes? Get out!” 1 Late at night, after finishing some take-out, I was about to jump into a game. A notification popped up. #Curvy eSports Goddess Summer Shade-Throws Rich Sister-in-Law# I frowned. What money-grubbing scheme was this chick up to now? Probably another self-made drama. I was about to close it, but I clicked on it by mistake. After reading it, I was wide awake. Summer Shade was pregnant? Wasn’t she all about wanting to marry only Nate? Wait… Wasn’t that my sister-in-law in the video? What was she doing as Summer’s “rich sister-in-law?” Was Nate cheating on me? I looked over at Nate, rubbing my feet. If it wasn’t him, it was probably just the media making stuff up. They never got anything right. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have become the most hated player on the eSports scene. I opened up Twitter. The trending topics made my jaw drop. #Nate & Summer Dating Announcement!# #Curvy Goddess Summer Shades the Haters# #eSports Power Couple! Prince & Queen Officially Together# … I scrolled down and saw that Summer Shade was planting ideas in her fans’ heads. Fan 1: “Summer, is that pregnancy test real?” Summer: “Realer than diamonds.” Fan 2: “Was your account hacked?” Summer: “Totally me.” Fan 3: “Is the baby’s daddy the eSports Prince, Nate?” Summer: “Keep it on the DL.” … I was pretty sure that Summer Shade was serious. She was all-in on this. As Summer’s replies came out, more and more topics started trending. Soon, her fans were demanding that Nate officially claim her. But he was notoriously aloof. He never used Twitter. He even shut down the fan club his fans created for him. They couldn’t get to Nate, so they swarmed Summer. Her reply was: [Guys, chill. Even princes get shy. ;)]. I looked over at Nate, still rubbing my feet. The more I thought about it, the angrier I got. I kicked him off the couch. Nate looked at me, confused. “Babe, what’s wrong?” He had a look of hurt in his eyes, like a lost puppy. He was such a two-faced guy. During tournaments, he was cold as ice. But with me, he was like a magnet. That’s how he got me in the first place. I couldn’t resist his charm, I couldn’t stand to see him sad, and he took advantage of it. I threw my phone at him. “Why didn’t I know you were giving other people body washes? Get out!” Nate’s eyes widened. He started reading the phone. “Who is this chick? She’s just trying to get famous.” I didn’t say anything, just gave him a questioning look. Nate turned pale. He looked at me, panicked and hurt. “Babe, I swear I don’t know her. No, I’ve never even seen her. I swear on my life.” He got down on his knees. 2 I knew Nate wouldn’t cheat on me. Before I said yes, he had a crush on me for eight years, liking everything I posted on social media. After we both got famous, I set my privacy settings so only close friends could see my posts, to keep our relationship secret. Ever since we got together, he was always with me. That’s why my sister-in-law suddenly didn’t like me. She thought her brother had forgotten about his family after getting a girlfriend. The truth is, this curvy streamer, with her 36DDs, was always trying to get Nate’s attention. Whenever she watched him play, she’d take pictures from just the right angle, so everyone would think they were an item. Nate ignored her, but I hated it. I was thinking about what to do when I saw Nate grab my phone and start typing. Before I could stop him, it was too late. Nate had retweeted Summer Shade using my Twitter account. He wrote: “Stop trying to use me. With that fake plastic face, the eSports Prince wouldn’t touch you with a ten-foot pole.” My brain was about to explode. How could he be so reckless? I grabbed my phone, ready to cry. “Are you kidding me? If you want to start something, do it on your own account!” “You’re making me look bad!” Nate silently bit his lip, looking guilty. “Didn’t you tell me not to use Twitter? I don’t have an account. Not a real one, and definitely not a fake one!” I remembered that when I decided to join the eSports scene, I gave him a list of rules. Don’t tell anyone we’re together. (His fangirls would kill me.) Don’t help me behind the scenes. (I want to succeed on my own.) Don’t post anything about me on social media. (Keep it low-key, and the fans won’t notice.) If he couldn’t follow those rules, we couldn’t be together. So, only our families knew we were dating. No one in the eSports scene knew. Nate thought it was pointless, so he deleted Twitter, and never posted anything, ever. I sighed, and got ready for the storm. His reply blew up on Twitter. Summer Shade’s fans swarmed my account, sending me hate messages. Everything you could think of, classy and trashy. “Who do you think you are? Calling Summer plastic? Look at yourself!” “Low-class, jealous bitch. You’re just coming out to bite.” “The eSports Prince and Summer are a real couple. You’re just a jealous hater!” “Old hag needs to give it up. Your dead fish face isn’t fooling anyone. Stop trying to be relevant.” … As Summer’s rival, I was used to this stuff. They called me the Ice Queen of eSports. I almost never interacted with anyone, just playing and commentating. Nate was a lot like that. But Summer’s fans accused me of trying to copy Nate and steal Summer’s man! I was tired of being targetted. While I was trying to figure out what to do, Summer Shade herself commented on my tweet. “Nobody even knows who you are.” It was like she was spitting in my face. In this industry, you just didn’t publicly attack someone. There were too many things at stake. Everyone usually threw shade discreetly. You didn’t make it public. Summer and I were directly at each other’s throats, like a soap opera. If I replied, I’d be giving her exactly what she wanted. Attention. If I didn’t reply, it would look like I was weak. It was frustrating. This was the first time Summer and I had publicly clashed. My agency would be pissed. Sure enough, my agent, Brenda, called me right away. 3 “Sarah, are you out of your mind? Why did you retweet Summer Shade?” “Even if you hate her, you shouldn’t be using your main account to start drama. What are you going to do now?” “Do you remember what our contract says? Do you remember your advertising deals?” Of course I did. When I signed, the company said I needed to be a role model. I couldn’t do anything illegal, reply to rumors, or do anything that would create a bad image. In three years, I had become famous for my gaming skills and commentary, earning a lot of fans, and getting a few advertising deals. There were a lot of female commentators who were jealous, including Summer Shade. She didn’t have the skills, but she had a killer body. Her sexy commentary and barely-there outfits won over a lot of fans. We stayed out of each other’s way, but she kept trying to start something. I wanted to fight back, but I had to think about my contract and my career. But it was over. I didn’t need to put up with this anymore. I could pay the fine. It wasn’t like I couldn’t afford it. I could quit. It wasn’t like I could only do this. I could fight back. It wasn’t like I couldn’t hire a social media team. But Nate’s one tweet was going to cost me millions, and endless trouble. I still felt a little resentful and stressed. That money should come out of Nate’s pocket. Why was I suffering for his actions? I put my hand over the phone. “Give me ten million dollars! Not a penny less!” Nate blinked, then perked up. “You’re finally going to use my money? No problem! Here’s all my credit cards!” He came over to hug me. I held him back. I cleared my throat and told Brenda. “I’ll pay the penalty.” “What?” “I’m quitting. Have the legal department get ready, I’ll pay in full.” Brenda didn’t know that my dad was a mining tycoon, and thought I was just mad at the company. She tried to talk me down. “Don’t be crazy. Where are you going to get that kind of money?” “I have it.” “You have it? You’re not worth that much! Don’t mess around, I’m trying to work here! I’ll call you back!” Brenda was a tough cookie. Without even listening to me, she decided to call the company and negotiate. It was late, and I was really tired. I didn’t feel like explaining that I was actually rich. So I just let her do what she wanted. Nate, though, heard I was quitting, and started grinning. “Haha! You’re finally leaving eSports!” “Haha! Great! We can be together!” Nate didn’t want me to join the eSports scene in the first place. He said it was a den of wolves. He knew I was pretty, and guys would try to take advantage of me. When he found out I was pregnant, he wanted to run over to my company and cancel my contract. I insisted on trying it out, so he let me. Now, he was getting his way. The next afternoon, Brenda called to say she had worked out a deal with the company. They would let me join an eSports show, while I was still popular. Since I was going the trashy route, it was perfect. The most important thing was that Summer Shade would be on the show too. The two of us together would create crazy buzz, and the show might be a hit. Being famous was the most important thing. Afraid that I would refuse, Brenda pleaded. “Sarah, this is the best I can get for you. Why don’t you just try it?” When I found out that Summer Shade would be there, I agreed without even thinking. She said I was leeching off her fame? I’d show everyone who was leeching off who! I told my team to start collecting evidence. I was going to fight back! Brenda thought I was crazy, but she had no choice. 4 On the day the show started filming, the eSports Prince showed up, and the internet exploded. The show grabbed onto the attention and used it to promote the show. Before I even came out, I saw the crazy comments on my phone. “OMG, Nate’s really here!” “Total Prince Charming! Summer’s so lucky!” “Haha, is he going to do another body wash?” “He came all the way to the show! He’s in love!” … Then it was Summer’s turn. She was wearing almost nothing, with her boobs practically falling out. She walked in and saw Nate sitting on the couch, glaring at her. Summer looked shy and lowered her head as she walked past Nate. She even paused for a second, to let the fans take pictures of them together. The host called her over, and she finally sat down. Nate saw her sitting next to him, and he stood up and moved one seat over. The fans thought it was a cute lover’s spat. “Cold on the outside, passionate on the inside! The eSports Prince is two different people! And Summer is all about passion on the outside, and a traditional girl on the inside! They’re a perfect match!” “I can’t wait to see them flirt on the show! Go Summer!” “OMG, the couple finally met!” “So hot, I’m drooling!” … I frowned. The fans would ship anything. When it was my turn to come out, the comments changed. “WTF, what’s she doing here?” “Gross. Why is Sarah always everywhere? Trying to take Summer’s spotlight again!” “I always thought the rumors about her riding Summer’s coattails were just rumors, but it’s true! This girl is desperate.” “Did the show not check her rep? Why are they inviting every random person?” “This woman is so shameless. These two are a couple, what’s she doing here?” But some of my fans stood up for me. “What’s wrong with her being here? It’s a competition show, and Sarah has the best skills! Some people just take their clothes off to get famous!” “Summer only got famous by riding on Sarah’s fame! Who’s obsessed with who?” “Aww, our Sarah doesn’t have the connections, and can’t shake off the haters.” The fans were fighting, and things were getting heated. The host got a message and told me to sit down. I looked left and right, and sat down next to Nate. Nate looked at me and gave me a sly smile. I glared at him, and he immediately looked away. So, the seating arrangement was me and Nate together, and Summer Shade sitting alone in the corner. The comments went crazy: “Is this girl crazy? What’s she doing sitting next to Nate? Trying to steal Summer’s man?” “Sarah’s trying to be the other woman! Like the eSports Prince would even give her a second glance.” “Nate is so tolerant, getting glared at and not even getting mad!” … The hate aimed at me was at its peak. Then the other guests came out. The show was starting!

  • He Forced My Daughter to Kiss My Enemy’s Feet After I Died.

All because she heard that grinding down finger bones made a great beauty treatment, my husband, Brad, chopped off my finger and gave it to his childhood sweetheart, Ashley. I died from the infection in the rundown shack across the street from our house. Before I died, my daughter, Lily, begged him to take me to the hospital. But Brad just didn’t care, and he threw her out of the house. In front of all the staff he said, “She’s really going to extreme lengths to get my attention.” Later, my hands and feet were shaking and I was coughing up blood. Lily swallowed her pride and went to him again. Brad just laughed, “It’s just one finger. It didn’t kill her. Why is she still going on about this?” Later, Lily knelt in front of him, banging her head on the ground. Blood was everywhere. He finally lost it and slapped her across the face. “You’re a useless little twit. What if she does die? If you bother me again, I swear I’ll sell you to some hillbillies in the mountains.” At her wit’s end, Lily stole my cell phone, which he’d confiscated, and called 911. But his sweetie Ashley caught her. She snatched the phone and stomped on it, looking totally unconcerned. “The company just got started. Calling the cops will ruin our reputation. As for your mom dying…who cares?” 1 Lily knew that her dad didn’t care about me. He was obsessed with his precious Ashley. To save my life, Lily knelt in front of Ashley and begged her to help me. Once, Lily had pointed her finger at Ashley and called her a shameless woman. Now, she was giving up everything to grovel at Ashley’s feet. “Ms. Ashley, please help my mom. She’s really going to die…” Lily was sobbing and banging her head on the floor. She didn’t know what price she could pay. She was just hoping her actions would work. Ashley looked down, watching coldly without saying a word. Lily kept banging her head on the ground, over and over. Blood started oozing out, staining the floor red. Finally, Ashley slowly smiled, her words dripping with sarcasm: “You’re just like your trashy mother. Pathetic, crawling on the ground.” Lily looked humiliated, her face burning red, but she grit her teeth and said, “You can say whatever you want. Just please save my mom.” Ashley just smirked, not agreeing or refusing. Instead, she lifted Lily’s chin with her foot. “If you like crawling around like a dog so much, then lick my shoes clean. Show me how sincere you really are.” Lily flinched. She hesitated for a few seconds, then lowered her head and stuck out her tongue, licking lightly. The maids all started laughing, taking pictures with their phones. “Wow, she’s a natural at being a dog, even at her age.” “We don’t need to keep a dog. We can just chain her up outside…” “Quiet, she’s still the master’s daughter. He wouldn’t like it if he heard you.” “Who cares? Everyone knows he hates that kid. He wouldn’t lose a second of sleep if she died out there…” Hearing the maids’ taunts, Ashley looked even more pleased. She kicked Lily. “Filthy thing! I wouldn’t even want your spit on my shoes!” Lily didn’t care. She just looked at Ashley with pleading eyes. But all she got was a cold smile. “We’ll see,” Ashley said. She sashayed away, leaving Lily standing there in despair, tears streaming down her face. I saw it all. I squeezed my eyes shut and whimpered, “Lily, come back…” A sharp pain shot through me, like my whole body was burning. I couldn’t stop shaking. I was trying to grab something for support but I knocked over a glass. Crash! The sound made the door fly open. “Mom, what’s wrong!” Lily ran to me, trying to stop me from shaking. Her tears were flowing again. “Mom, I’m so sorry. You’re suffering because of me…” Everything started to blur. My head was pounding. I slowly lifted my blue hand and touched my daughter’s head. I wasn’t going to make it. My only worry was Lily. She was too young to take care of herself. I forced a smile. “I’m okay, sweetie. Don’t worry.” Lily cried harder. “You’re lying! You were coughing up blood last night. You thought I didn’t see you!” I tried to explain, but I just coughed. My face was bloated, my body was blue. Brad wouldn’t even look at me. Why would anyone come see me? I was leaving. I didn’t want Lily to see me at my worst. “I want some candy. Can you go get me some?” I tried to smile, trying to seem calm. Lily started to nod, then stopped, shaking her head. “No! Mom, I don’t want to leave you!” Lily was smart. She knew what I was planning. But she had to go. I pulled out the last of my money and smiled, handing it to her. “Don’t you think I look a little better? ” Lily paused and looked at me closely. She nodded excitedly. “Mommy’s face… it’s got color again!” “See? Go now. Get a bunch of different kinds. I want to try them all…” “I promise, I’ll be here when you get back.” Lily nodded over and over. She wasn’t worried anymore. She ran out. I kept smiling until she was gone. I laughed softly, coughing up blood. I fell back on the bed. My moment of clarity didn’t last long enough. I wouldn’t get to taste that candy. “I’m sorry for breaking this promise…” 2 Maybe because I had unfinished business, my soul was floating above my body. I was surprised, and then I looked in the direction Lily had gone. I drifted that way. “Excuse me, do you know where I can buy some candy?” She left the house and then realized she didn’t know where to go. She was in a hurry. She didn’t have time to turn back. So she asked a stranger. “Get away from me! You’re filthy! You disgust me!” A woman looked disgusted and waved her purse at Lily, running away like she was escaping a disease. Lily couldn’t get out of the way. The purse hit her head and she fell. She stared at the woman as she left. “I just…wanted to know where to buy it.” My heart hurt. I ran to her and tried to help her up. But I floated right through her. I forgot. I was dead. Lily took a deep breath, clutching the money. She got up and ran to another person. “Sir, can you tell me where I can buy some candy?” This time, Lily was more careful, keeping a distance from the man. The man looked her up and down, looking disgusted. Her hair was a mess, her clothes were dirty, and her face was grimy. Only her bright eyes stood out. “You want to buy candy, beggar?” Lily nodded, looking eager. She held up the money. “I can pay!” The man’s eyes narrowed. He smiled slyly. “I have some right here. Come on in.” A few minutes later, Lily was kicked out. She landed hard on the ground. She was crying. She glared at the man. “Why did you steal my money!?” The man smirked, “You were stealing my money. I should be the one yelling at you. Get out of here before I call the cops!” Lily was furious. Her face was red. She pointed at the man, but she couldn’t think of anything to say. “I’m… I’m Brad’s daughter! Brad from the Brad Corporation!” The man laughed. So did the people watching. “The Brad Corporation? Take a look in the mirror. You’re not good enough.” The man picked up a chair. He laughed, holding it up. “If you can get the CEO of the Brad Corporation, I’ll leave you alone. Otherwise, I’m going to beat you with this chair, and you’re going to meet your maker!” Lily looked scared. She scrambled away, ignoring the pain. She ran around a corner and couldn’t hold it in anymore. She started sobbing. A soft voice spoke behind her. “Little girl, I have some candy. Do you want some?” Lily flinched. She turned around, looking terrified. “Sorry, I didn’t know I wasn’t allowed to be here. I’ll leave…” She tried to leave, but the man stopped her. “Don’t be scared. I won’t hurt you.” The man smiled and pulled out a bag of candy. “You want candy, right? Here, take it.” Lily looked stunned. She looked at the man for a long time and then got excited, thanking him over and over. The man waved his hand. He thought for a moment. “You haven’t eaten, have you?” “Brad from the Brad Corporation is throwing a big party to welcome back a woman. It’s at a restaurant not far from here. He’s invited the whole town to eat…” He smiled. “That woman is his childhood sweetheart. No one would look down on you at a party like that.” Lily trembled. She looked down. She remembered a lot when she heard Brad’s name. She remembered his cold face. She remembered her mom kneeling, getting whipped until she passed out. Her own father was the one throwing that party. “I understand…” I stood behind Lily, heartbroken. I knew how she felt. I used to be the most important person to Brad. I had everything I could want. Brad would always look at me with love. He was so caring. But then Ashley came along. Everything changed. She was Brad’s childhood sweetheart, the woman he could never have. Now she was here, and Brad was crazy about her. They were like a couple in love. Just because Ashley said something, Brad dragged me to the hospital and cut off my finger. She didn’t want to share Brad’s love. She just wanted me to die. Because of who Brad was, he wouldn’t let me get away, even if I ran. The man watched Lily. He pinched her cheek. “You’re so cute. Your parents must be beautiful.” “Parents?” Her eyes dimmed. She looked down, twisting her fingers together. “I don’t have a dad.” “My mom… is dying.” 3 Lily ran back with the candy. She was imagining how happy I would be. She turned a corner and saw Ashley talking on the phone. Lily slowed down, trying not to bother her. Since Ashley had moved in, Lily was always getting punished for something. Sometimes she had to stand in the corner. Other times she got punched and kicked. Ashley paused and glanced at Lily. Her voice was playful. “Honey, I’ll talk to you later. There’s a stray dog in the house.” She put the phone on speaker. The phone blasted Brad’s worried voice, “Stray dogs are filthy. Don’t let it bite you. Have the maid throw it out. I don’t want you seeing that…” Lily bit her lip, looking sad. Lily and I were no different than stray dogs. We lived in a rundown shack. We wore Ashley’s old clothes. We could only eat if Ashley was okay with it. Ashley was like the lady of the house. Lily and I were like outsiders, living in humiliation. Ashley hung up and walked over to Lily. “Come here.” “Ms. Ashley…” Lily backed away. “I said, come here!” Ashley glared, her eyes cold. Lily was defiant for once. “My mom needs me. I have to go back.” Ashley’s face darkened. She slapped Lily across the face. Lily screamed and stumbled, almost falling. But Ashley wasn’t going to let her go. She grabbed Lily’s chin. “All you ever talk about is your mother. Why doesn’t she come save you?” Lily tried to break free. She dropped the candy. It scattered on the ground. “Trash,” Ashley sneered, kicking the candy away. “No!” Lily’s eyes turned red. She bit Ashley’s hand. Then she scrambled to pick up the candy. “You little brat! I’ll kill you!” Ashley’s eyes teared up. She kicked Lily in the stomach. She laughed, stomping on the candy. “You want it, right?” “You’re not going to get it!” She grabbed Lily’s hair and dragged her into the corner, kicking her in the face. “I’ll teach you to bite! I’ll teach you!” The more Lily screamed, the more excited Ashley became. “It makes me sick to see you with your mother’s face. I’ll destroy it…” I was filled with hate. I wanted to fight Ashley to the death. The phone rang again. “Are you home? I forgot a file.” Lily was crying. She said, “Dad.” Lily was covered in blood. Her mouth was torn. Her voice was barely audible. But Brad heard her, sounding confused. “Who’s crying? Is that my daughter?” Ashley stepped on Lily’s face, grinding it into the floor. Blood poured out. “It’s nothing. You heard wrong…” I was frantic. I wanted to be the one under Ashley’s foot. But a few seconds later, Brad’s cold voice spoke behind us. “What are you doing here?”

  • My Wife’s Lover Broke My Legs, Unleashing My Fury

All because I sent my wife a few photos of my abs, I was mistaken for her side piece by the guy she was keeping on the side. He stormed into my house with a bunch of his bros. “You freaking gold digger trying to seduce my girl!” “I’m breaking your legs so you can’t go around ruining any more relationships.” They trashed my mansion, worth millions, crippled me, and then stripped me naked, ready to parade me through the streets. Seeing my assistant rush over, I forced myself to say: “Get a divorce! Make sure Tiffany gets nothing, and take back every penny she’s spent on that deadbeat. Every last cent!” “She dares cheat on me? I’m gonna make their lives a living hell!” … I was at work when I got a call from the HOA about people breaking down my door. I raced back and saw a bunch of guys standing outside my place, the security guard bowing and scraping to some guy with a pretty-boy face. “So you’re the real owner! I was wondering why he wasn’t around much. This house isn’t even his. He’s a fake!” “Mr. Miller, just let me know if you need anything. I’ll take care of it right away.” “Alright, I’ll get you that promotion to security chief.” I walked over. The guy, this “Mr. Miller,” widened his eyes. “Boys, that’s the lowlife seducing my girl!” “Grab him! Don’t let that jerk get away!” A few guys rushed me, pinning my shoulders. “We finally caught you, trying to steal Jake Miller’s girl! You’re dead!” I frowned. “You’ve got the wrong guy. I don’t even know…” Before I could finish, Jake kicked me in the stomach. “Trying to deny it? I’d recognize you even if you were ashes, you mooch!” I doubled over, gasping. The security guard was all, “Mr. Miller, you okay? I’ll get him out of here.” Then he turned to me. “Pack your stuff and get out. This is a high-end neighborhood. No room for riffraff like you!” I laughed, knowing this whole neighborhood was developed by my company. “This is my house. I paid for it. What right do you have to kick me out?” I looked at the guy. It looked like he was driven crazy by his girlfriend’s infidelity. I held my anger down. “Apologize and leave, and I’ll let it go.” Jake spat on the ground. “Psh! I should apologize? You’re the one seducing my girl.” I dodged, barely avoiding the spit. He kicked me again. The neighbors were watching the show. Jake pointed at my face. “Listen up, everyone! My girlfriend is Tiffany Wilson, the CEO of a multinational corporation. This loser sends her messages and calls all the time, and sends her pictures of his abs to seduce her!” “What do you say? Should I beat the hell out of this creep?” I’d never been hit like that in my life. I was so angry I was about to explode. Hearing my wife’s name snapped me to my senses. Tiffany was my wife, but she was out of the country on a business trip, had been for the last six months. I’d only ever sent her pictures of my abs. We’d been married for five years. She was so sweet and kind. That’s why I trusted her to manage the foreign branch. I looked at Jake. “You say Tiffany is your girlfriend. What proof do you have?” “I got plenty of proof.” Jake pulled out his phone and shoved pictures of him and Tiffany in my face. I stared in disbelief. It was Tiffany. She had a mole under her right eye. I couldn’t be that stupid to not understand what this meant. Seeing the background in their photos made me even angrier. I was worried about Tiffany not eating and sleeping well, so I bought her a villa and hired a cook. She was using my money to keep another man? No wonder she didn’t want to come home! She was busy with another man! And to add insult to injury, Tiffany had me saved as “Boy Toy” on her phone! If I hadn’t seen it myself, I’d never have believed Tiffany could be so sneaky! Seeing my pale face, Jake thought I was guilty. 2 “What do you know? Proof’s in front of you. Got nothing to say now?” The neighbors were murmuring, “I hate homewreckers! They tear families apart. They should be punished!” “I’m with the wife. Don’t go easy on him.” Jake’s crew scoffed. “Don’t you know? A pretty face is how he gets sugar mamas to pay the bills.” “He looks decent, but he’s a total freak!” I clenched my fists, glaring at Jake. “Call Tiffany right now. Ask her who I am!” Jake laughed. “Think she’s going to save you? Dream on!” “I’m going to show you what happens to homewreckers!” They started hitting and kicking me. I fought back, but there were too many of them. They snapped photos of my face and recorded videos. “Put it online! Let everyone see the face of a gold digger!” I was lying on the ground, barely conscious, gritting my teeth. “You’ll regret this!” Jake stepped on my head, like I was trash. “Still talking tough?” “This is just the beginning!” He grabbed my hand, using my fingerprint to unlock the door. The luxurious decor made their eyes widen. “He’s making a killing selling his body.” “Let’s wreck everything!” They started smashing everything they could. Even the picture frames of Tiffany and me were thrown on the ground. I didn’t stop them. “My stuff is expensive. Think before you break it.” I pointed at a jade ornament Jake was holding. “That’s worth millions. Can you afford to pay for that?” Jake froze. He was hesitant. His crew said, “Millions for that junk? You trying to scare us!” “It doesn’t matter if it’s a priceless antique. He got it from sleeping with some woman. We’re doing a public service.” “He’s a mooch. He doesn’t have any money. All this stuff was bought for him by your girl. Her money is your money, so you don’t need to pay for anything!” Jake nodded. He smashed the jade ornament over my head. Pain shot through me. Warm liquid trickled down my forehead. I touched it. Blood. I was angry and hurt. One of the neighbors said, “Should you really be doing this?” Jake’s crew didn’t care. “Why not? Someone like that will just go mess up another family. We’re doing what’s right.” “The law can’t touch him, so he thinks he can get away with anything. We’re getting revenge for the victims!” Jake said to the neighbor, “I’m doing you a favor. He might try to seduce your wife next!” I grabbed my phone, but Jake smashed it. “You, a homewrecker, call the cops?” I said, “I’m married to Tiffany. You’re the homewrecker.” One of the guys punched me. “Trying to turn this around? I’ve never seen anyone so shameless. We’re not stupid. Save your lies for someone else!” I looked at the fools. “Our marriage certificate is in the bedroom. Go get it.” 3 Jake went to my bedroom and grabbed the certificate. They stared in shock. “Are we wrong? Is he not the other guy?” “Check if they’re really married.” I thought they’d realize their mistake, but Jake tore up the certificate. He poked my forehead. “You gold digger. Did you think you can forge a marriage certificate!” “My girl and I grew up together. I know what she’s like. You can’t fool me!” Tiffany had told me she never dated before me. It was laughable. She’d been playing me the whole time! “Homewreckers are so brazen now, even forging marriage certificates!” “His girlfriend is Tiffany Wilson! This guy’s doing anything for money. Forging documents is illegal!” I kept a low profile, so not many people knew me. But Tiffany, being the head of the foreign branch, was always giving interviews, but she was just a figurehead. And they didn’t know about our prenup. If she cheated, she would get nothing! The crew, believing my certificate was fake, got even more rowdy. They locked the door and kept smashing things. My home was a ruin. My antiques, paintings, and valuables were destroyed. Around six million worth of damages. And they weren’t going to stop. “Let’s burn the house down! Make him lose everything.” Jake hesitated. “Burn it?” “That’s right! This house was bought for him by his girl. It’s yours, so what’s there to worry about?” I shouted, “Are you crazy?” Jake punched me in the face. “Shut up. I know she bought it for you, and I’m going to burn it!” I laughed. The laws don’t mean anything to them. “I’m warning you. Stop now. You’ll be begging me later.” Jake lit the curtains on fire, then threw me on the ground. “Strip his clothes off! Drag him outside for everyone to see. Let everyone know he’s a homewrecker!” They started tearing at my clothes. I aimed my head and bashed it right into Jake’s jaw. He fell. The security guard said, “Mr. Miller, wipe yourself off.” Jake was all, “Beat the crap out of him!” He found a metal pipe. I had a bad feeling. “What are you going to do?” I tried to back away, but they held me. “I’m breaking your legs so you can’t go around ruining any more relationships.” Jake raised the pipe and swung it down on my legs. Pain shot through me. I heard the bone break. Seeing the blood, they panicked. “Are we going to kill him?” Jake glared at me. “Just a little blood. He won’t die.” I couldn’t talk from the pain. The fire was spreading. The neighbors called 911. The fire trucks and cop cars arrived. They quieted down. My assistant came in. Seeing me on the ground, he was shocked. “Mr. Hayes!” I forced myself to speak. “Get a divorce! Make sure Tiffany gets nothing, and take back every penny she’s spent on that deadbeat. Every last cent!” “She dares cheat on me? I’m gonna make their lives a living hell!”

  • Back in surgery, I took down the fake heir who swapped my anesthesia.

During my brain surgery, that med student, Ethan, whom I’d funded for ten years, deliberately switched my anesthesia. I was awake the entire time, eyes wide with terror, but he told everyone it was an “awake craniotomy”. In my last call before the surgery, I desperately begged my fiancée for help, but she impatiently cut me off: “Liam, not everyone’s as obsessed with tumors as you are.” “Ethan is doing you a favor by operating on you despite everything. Just cooperate with him, okay? Don’t bother me!” The next second, the phone was snatched away. My scalp was sliced open, my skull drilled into, and I was dying in agony. With my last breath, I left a statement identifying Ethan’s crimes. But my fiancée vouched for Ethan: “Liam’s surgery had a low survival rate anyway. Ethan had nothing to do with his death.” When I opened my eyes again, I was back to the moment after the surgery began, the moment my anesthesia was swapped. … “Liam, did you really think that little bit of money you gave me would make you superior?” “So what if you’re a rich kid from Chicago? To Sarah, you’re just a loser trying too hard. I barely mentioned it, and she handed you over to me to be a lab rat.” The dark voice was deliberately lowered, whispering close to my ear. As the low-dose anesthesia washed over my mind, I jerked my eyes open. The stinging smell of disinfectant and the blinding white surgical lights overhead reminded me. I was reborn. Reborn on the day Ethan was performing my craniotomy. In my past life, he’d taken it upon himself to give me low-dose anesthesia, causing me to be conscious during the surgery, fully aware of the excruciating pain and terror of having my skull opened. “How about calling Sarah again and asking for confirmation?” Bringing me back to the present, Ethan was already dialing Sarah’s number. He raised an eyebrow at me mockingly, as if completely sure of himself, then tossed the phone to my side and turned to prepare the surgical tools. Just like before, Sarah’s tone was cold and impatient: “Ethan comes from a good family; he is a real catch, you know, do you think he would do something like that, ruin his medical career just to hurt you?” “Just cooperate with him and get the awake craniotomy done. If you live, he’ll get a promotion. It’s a win-win situation. Liam, can you stop being so unreasonable?” But she knew that awake craniotomies weren’t for everyone, especially for Ethan who just out of medical school. He’d even admitted to having shaky hands because he liked to drink too much. Maybe the low-dose anesthesia was taking effect; I started to lose sensation in my limbs. Sarah called my name; I couldn’t quite hear what else she said. Unlike my previous life, I didn’t hysterically beg her to come and save me. This time, I hung up the phone and tried to call my dad with shaking hands. My family had always disapproved of my relationship with Sarah. I had secretly poured resources into her career, turning her into a top doctor at the hospital, and they had finally stopped objecting. If they knew that Sarah and Ethan were using my life for practice, they would never let it go. “Dad…” But as soon as the call connected, the phone was snatched away. Ethan hung up on my dad right in front of me. “I knew you’d be trouble.” Ethan deliberately shook his hand in front of my face. His eyes, shielded by the face mask, were filled with hatred. The shadow moved from my side to above my head. The surgery light was blinding, making it difficult to see his movements. The thought of the dangers was worse than actually seeing them. The unbearable pain from my previous life was still fresh in my mind. The scalpel was cold and sharp against my scalp. My heart was pounding in my chest. I couldn’t move. Just as I thought I would repeat my previous life, the operating room door burst open. My friend, Owen, glanced at the heart monitor and pulled Ethan away: “Ethan, are you crazy? The anesthesia isn’t strong enough; he’s clearly awake. How can you just start the surgery?” Owen glared at the other people in the operating room: “Ethan’s messing around, and you’re all going along with it? If this gets out, you’re all in trouble!” Everyone looked at each other, hesitant. 2 Ethan laughed. “What’s going to get out? The hospital director approved this. Sarah called just now and said that Liam’s surgery is entirely in my hands.” “Don’t believe me? Do you want to call him and ask?” After receiving a sharp look from Ethan, the people in the operating room lowered their heads. In my previous life, Ethan, using my money, had always acted with impunity at the hospital. With Sarah backing him up, no one dared to cross him. Owen’s chest rose and fell with anger. “Get out of the way!” Ethan pushed him away, causing Owen to stumble and knock over a tray of scalpels, cutting his cheek. “Am I the head surgeon, or are you? Mess with me again, and I’ll have the director fire you!” Owen took a few steps back, quietly patted my hand, and turned to leave. I quickly grabbed the edge of his shirt. In my previous life, Owen had gone to Sarah after this incident. After my death, Sarah blamed everything on him, causing him to be discredited and commit suicide. In this life, I didn’t want to drag him down again. I struggled to speak: “Don’t find her, find the CEO of the Hughes Corporation…” Owen nodded and turned to leave. But Ethan grabbed him and punched him. “The surgery’s not over yet. Where are you going? You think you can go tell my dad on me? You wish!” “Ethan, let him go!” I was enraged but helpless. The low-dose anesthesia made it difficult to speak clearly. I could only stare at him: “That’s my dad… If you touch… touch me today, I’ll pay you back a hundred times over!” Ethan scoffed, ignoring my warning. “You say you’re the Hughes family’s youngest son? Ask everyone here, who’s going to believe that?” The others lowered their heads, pretending not to see. They were clearly agreeing with Ethan. My heart sank. Ethan leaned down and whispered in my ear: “Besides, even if you are the real deal, as long as you die here today, your dad will let me into the Hughes family, make me the real Hughes family son. “Then, the fake will become the real.” My eyes widened. I was filled with hatred, but my tongue was numb. I drooled, unable to say a word. Ethan smiled with satisfaction. As he was gloating, Owen suddenly shook off Ethan and ran towards the door. But the next moment, several men in black suits entered the room, grabbed Owen, and pushed him in front of Ethan. “Dr. Ethan, the director told us to make sure you can focus on the surgery. We’re here to make sure no one disturbs you today.” “Whether the surgery is successful or not, we won’t let anything bad for you get out.” Ethan raised an eyebrow at me mockingly. My heart sank to the bottom. This was the woman I had loved for seven years. I suddenly felt incredibly ironic. Anesthesia was injected, and soon Owen was lying on the ground, helpless. The men in black suits stood in a row at the operating room door. Ethan moved above me. The low-dose anesthesia made me weak, but I could clearly feel my scalp being sliced open. I trembled, imagining the bloody scene. My heart was beating violently, and my blood pressure was skyrocketing. But then the phone rang. A nurse rushed in, pale-faced. She handed the phone to Ethan: “Dr. Ethan, Ms. Hughes wants you to take this call.” 3 Ethan flinched, and the blade cut a long gash in my scalp. I saw a glimmer of hope and said in a trembling voice: “Big Sister…” But Ethan covered my mouth. His bloody hand pressed down on the respirator and the tubes in my nose and throat. The wound on my scalp was throbbing. I could only stare at Ethan. I couldn’t say a word, and even breathing became difficult. Ethan turned his head and said quietly into the phone: “Big Sister, the surgery hasn’t ended yet. Yeah, Dr. Wang is the head surgeon, and I’m just assisting. Everything’s going smoothly.” “Don’t worry, we’ll do our best. I’ll hang up now…” “He’s lying!” Owen gritted his teeth and shouted. Ethan’s face changed, and he nodded at the guards at the door. They immediately covered Owen’s mouth and injected him with anesthesia. I tried to struggle, to get my Big Sister’s attention, but it was in vain. Several nurses held down my hands, copying Ethan and covering my mouth. Ethan held the phone in one hand and the scalpel in the other, randomly cutting my scalp. “It’s nothing, Big Sister, don’t worry.” “Patients under anesthesia are often confused and say strange things. It’s normal.” Each cut made me sweat and tremble. Ethan’s last surgery had been a C-section where he had been talking on the phone, making a mistake and leaving a piece of gauze in the patient’s stomach. By the time it was discovered, the woman was already burning with fever and had died of sepsis. Sarah had spent a lot of money to suppress the story before it could spread. And now, Ethan was clearly trying to kill me. He hung up the phone. A nurse approached, lowering her voice and hesitating: “Dr. Ethan, the patient’s blood pressure is dangerously high. His heart rate is too fast. He’ll die of oxygen deprivation.” Ethan didn’t say anything, just glanced at her, and the nurse immediately backed away. My vision started to fade, and my head was spinning. I couldn’t tell if it was from the anesthesia or the lack of oxygen. I seemed to hear the sound of a drill. Buzzing, buzzing, the same sound as in my previous life. Why was this happening again, even after I had a second chance? I didn’t want to die. I stared at the light overhead, unable to breathe. But then I heard voices. Sarah pushed open the door, and I tensed. But she didn’t even look at me, just smiled and took Ethan’s arm: “How much longer until the surgery’s over? Ms. Hughes is waiting outside for you. After the surgery, let’s have dinner with her.” Her tone was gentle, completely different from her cold attitude towards me. Seeing her again, I felt nothing. Only the words “Big Sister” made me open my eyes. Ethan said something, and Sarah snuggled into his arms, causing the drill to slip. My scalp felt like it was being torn off. I bit my teeth and stared at the surgical instruments just a foot away. Move your fingers, just move. I tried to move my arm. Sarah rushed over and pressed me down, causing the drill to fall to the ground and knock into the surgical instruments. “Clang–” “Why is it so loud? Did something happen to my brother?” Big Sister’s voice came. The door opened a crack.
