The shop girl fell in love with my husband

I went to buy skincare products with my newlywed husband, who was dressed in a sharp, expensive suit and a designer watch. The snooty sales associate suddenly became overly enthusiastic. First, she complimented my husband on his height, looks, and taste, then she insinuated that I was lucky to be kept by such a man. While applying facial cream to my face, she even had the audacity to ask me where I had my cosmetic surgery done. I decided not to engage with her and turned to discuss the decor of our new home with my husband. Unexpectedly, the sales associate exclaimed, “Sweetie, does your sugar daddy even know you’re married?” ***** The weather had turned dry with the changing seasons, so after work, I asked my husband, Joshua Walker, to accompany me to buy some skincare products. A colleague had told me about a new sales associate named Sienna Gomez, who they all raved about for being smart, sweet, and knowledgeable about skincare. “Ms. Scott, I followed Sienna’s skincare routine, and all my acne has vanished! You have such great skin, so I’m sure it would work wonders for you!” my colleague had said. I relayed this to Joshua, who shook his head and replied, “It’s just a sales pitch. There’s nothing magical about it.” I shrugged, “Well, the company gave me shopping vouchers, so why not use them?” With a loving gaze, Joshua nodded. “I’ll park the car and catch up with you later.” As I entered the store, I noticed a young girl slouched over the counter, engrossed in her phone. When she spotted me, she immediately straightened up. With a smile, she approached me and asked what I needed. I pulled out the vouchers and asked her to recommend a few products based on my skin type. Unexpectedly, her smile faded as soon as she saw the vouchers; she rolled her eyes and said, “We’re a major brand, and we don’t accept vouchers. You should use them for groceries instead.” I was about to retort, but she averted her gaze from me. Then, suddenly, her eyes lit up, and she shyly fixed her hair. I was puzzled until I turned to see Joshua walking towards me. Having just wrapped up a meeting, he looked charming in his black haute couture suit, illuminated by the light behind him. He wrapped an arm around my waist and asked if I had found what I was looking for. I was about to complain about the poor service when the girl suddenly grabbed my hand affectionately and said, “Sweetie, let me check your skin and recommend the best products for you! “And I can give you a spa. Just call me Sienna!” So, she was Sienna. Remembering my colleague’s high praise, I nodded and let her lead me to a chair. She couldn’t take her eyes off Joshua while absently mixing a mud mask. He sat on the sofa, confused by her gaze but still nodded politely. Noticing my bewilderment, Sienna blinked rapidly and said, “Sweetie, your boyfriend looks like a star.” Before I knew it, she slathered the mud mask on my face, plunging me into darkness. I felt annoyed but tried to keep my temper in check during the treatment. Sienna, oblivious to my mood, continued, “Sweetie, is your boyfriend a boss? He’s so elegant. “Does he work around here?” I closed my eyes and nodded half-heartedly, but the mud mask began to slide and solidify, blocking my nostrils and almost suffocating me. I wiped the mask off my face and angrily questioned her actions. She quickly diverted her gaze from the sofa. From our angle, we could see Joshua’s polished shoes and the gleaming Rolex on his wrist. Sienna flushed and stammered, “Sorry! I’m sorry!” I tried to suppress my anger, saying it was fine. But she innocently asked, “Sweetie, how did you land such a great guy? What tricks did you use?” I shot her a glare and asked, “What do you mean by that?”

Maybe my tone was a bit too sharp as Joshua looked over to check the situation. Sienna, with her exaggerated blue eyeshadow and heavily made-up face, blinked at me, smiling, and said, “No, no, I meant you’re just so lucky to have such a handsome boyfriend! “You don’t even need to work with so many men wanting to spend on you!” As a woman, I recognized her jealousy and found it amusing. I naturally had a job; the chain restaurant in this mall was my family’s business. I was dressed casually today because I was conducting market research. But there was no excuse for her snobbery. I guessed she assumed I was some boss’ mistress and felt free to mock me openly and subtly. Joshua seemed to enjoy her flattery, casually crossing his legs and swinging them back and forth. I said firmly, “Cut the nonsense. If you don’t want to do this, I’m leaving!” Sienna’s face froze, then she pressed my shoulders down, insisting. “Sorry, sweetie! Let me show you our new serum!” Skeptical, I decided to give her another chance. Initially, her massage techniques were impressive, and I closed my eyes, enjoying it. But then she switched to a scraping tool, and it scratched my face painfully. I felt an intense burning sensation all over my face, and I screamed for her to stop. Joshua rushed over, puzzled. Sienna, with a sarcastic tone, said, “Sweetie, it hurts because you’ve had plastic surgery. If you’d just admitted it, I would’ve been more careful.” I covered my face, angry as I glanced in the mirror to find faint blood spots from where my forehead had been scraped. “Where did you have your surgery? Did you get jawline reduction?” Sienna asked. Fuming, I shoved her to the floor, scolding her, “I haven’t had any surgery! Stop making excuses for your terrible skills! “I’ve never had a treatment this harsh. Are you trying to disfigure me? “If there’s anything wrong with my face, I’ll file a complaint!” My voice was loud enough to attract the attention of passersby. Sienna’s face turned a mix of red and pale. She looked hurt and said, “Sweetie, you don’t understand. It’s normal for facial scrapes to feel a bit painful. Why are you being so delicate?” She stood there, looking lost, like she might burst into tears any second. This pretentious act infuriated me completely. I was about to explode when Joshua wrapped his arms around me. “Alright, honey, don’t let a salesgirl get to you. I’ll take you out for something delicious later to cheer you up,” he said, gently patting my back and helping me regain some composure. Finally, I shot Sienna a glare, grabbed my bag, and prepared to leave, vowing never to return to this store again. Panicking, Sienna dashed to the counter and grabbed a handful of samples, insisting they were for me. I pushed her away and refused, but she kept shoving more into my arms. Joshua, ever the peacemaker, chimed in, “Don’t be upset; I have good news. We can move into our married house tomorrow!” At that moment, the bottles in Sienna’s hands crashed to the floor. One hit my foot, and I yelped in pain. I was fed up, but Sienna looked incredulous, innocently asking, “Sweetie, are you married? Does your sugar daddy, who paid your bills, know about this?”

As soon as she finished speaking, Sienna looked at me in a panic, seemingly regretting that she had accidentally let my secret slip. Her uncertain gaze flickered between me and Joshua. When the onlookers caught wind of the commotion, they gathered around, eager to listen in and indulge in the gossip. I let out a laugh, fueled by anger, and shot her a fierce glare. “Are you sure?” She seemed to shrink back in fear, hiding behind Joshua. I pulled her out from behind him and confronted her directly. “When and where did you see me with my sugar daddy?” She stammered, “It was… it was the old man who paid for you last time.” Her voice was just loud enough for everyone to hear. “Look at her decked out in designer clothes. She must have sold her body to afford them!” “She doesn’t look like a decent woman. Just look at her figure; she must have experience!” “First with an old man, now with a young guy. How shameless.” The scornful expressions of the crowd helped me regain my composure. Taking a deep breath, I pulled out my phone, aimed the camera at Sienna, and began recording. I asked, “So, you mean you saw me shopping with an old man? “What did I buy? Where’s the receipt? “If you can’t provide that, then you’ve just spread rumors and slandered me right in front of me. Then we should head to the police and sort this out.” My onslaught of questions left Sienna speechless, her mouth opening and closing in panic. “Maybe I remembered it wrong. Just please calm down,” she stammered, completely panicked. I replied calmly, “That’s fine. Let’s check the surveillance footage. I’m not unreasonable. Or we can call the police right now!” Her face drained of color as she shook her head vigorously. I smirked, putting my phone away, and glared at Joshua, who tried to intervene again. I stood in front of Sienna and said, “You started these rumors, and then you backtrack and say you might have remembered wrong. How do you plan to compensate me for the damage to my reputation?” The ruckus we were causing alarmed the shopping mall manager, who quickly asked the manager over with a grim expression. The store manager immediately put aside her work and rushed over. Furious, she glared at Sienna and scolded, “I stepped away for just a moment, and you create this chaos? Do you want to get fired?” She then took me to her office with a bright smile and said, “Ma’am, please calm down. We can discuss this.” I explained the situation, and the manager’s expression darkened. “Ma’am, what do you expect us to do?” she asked. I replied firmly, “She needs to apologize to me publicly and then be fired!” The store manager nodded without hesitation, clearly uninterested in defending Sienna. She said, “She’s not even a formal employee. I’ve suspected of a while that she has ulterior motives. Keeping her on would only tarnish our brand’s reputation. “I’m so sorry, ma’am. I’ll upgrade you to a VIP Platinum customer for free.” Accepting the manager’s gesture, I was ready to leave when I opened the door and noticed Sienna gazing at Joshua with a look of infatuation. When she saw me, her expression twisted into one of hatred. “Sienna! Apologize to this lady right now, or you’re fired!” the manager ordered. Reluctantly, Sienna apologized in front of everyone. As she wiped her tears and removed her work badge, her eyes fixated on the hands Joshua and I held together. I thought that was the end of the ordeal. Unexpectedly, Sienna appeared again.   Although my family was wealthy, I could only get one thousand dollars per month for living expenses during college, and no one knew that I was rich. As graduation approached, I met Joshua in class. He was ambitious, gentle, polite, and kind-hearted—often taking the time to feed stray cats. I felt sympathy for him and arranged for him to become a supervisor in the branch, wanting to help him showcase his talents. I kept my arrangement a secret, fearing it might hurt his pride. In his eyes, I was just a girl raised by a single mother, living an ordinary life with an ordinary job. Years later, Joshua became a manager and began to find his footing. We had just tied the knot, excited for our future together. But when I visited the branch office at the end of the month, I was shocked to see Sienna exiting the secretary’s office in a professional outfit, clutching documents. Upon seeing me, she dropped her pen in fright. I approached her with a frown, and to my surprise, she plopped down on the floor and wailed, “Help! Mr. Walker, save me!” The door to the manager’s office swung open, revealing a flustered Joshua. “What’s going on, Sienna?” When our eyes met, Joshua froze. I was bewildered. “Why is she here?” Sienna grabbed my arm and cried, “Mrs. Walker, please don’t blame Mr. Walker! I begged him for a job. “I have to rescue stray animals, and I can’t afford to lose my job! “Mr. Walker is kind-hearted and helped me. Please, don’t fire me!” As she said this, she cried bitterly. Her cries drew the attention of her colleagues, who started to whisper. I felt overwhelmed as if I had suddenly become the villain in this situation. I rushed to help her, but as soon as I touched her, she wailed and fell to the side, prompting several male employees to rush over to assist her. “Allison Scott! What are you doing?” Joshua barked. Before I could respond, he pulled me aside into the office. He scolded, “Allison, can you please stop making a scene at work? There are so many people watching us! “I’m not just a marketing specialist like you; I’m a manager. You can’t interfere with my hiring decisions!” I was taken aback. I couldn’t believe Joshua, who had always listened to me, was speaking like this. “You…” I stepped back. He continued, his irritation palpable. “You caused her to lose her job. I’m trying to fix this for you. “You don’t need to act like I’m cheating on you. Don’t think I don’t know you have a sugar daddy…” He stopped when he noticed my incredulous expression, and my heart sank deeper. He sighed. “You don’t have to deny it. Sienna took a picture of you with a bald old man a few days ago. “And she said all your clothes are expensive. How could you get the money…” Before he could finish, Sienna burst in. “Mr. Walker! The animal hospital just called, saying Jingle had a cardiac arrest!” “What?” My heart sank as I grabbed Joshua’s hand. He turned, and the coldness and cruelty in his eyes were foreign to me. He accused, “Allison, you’re so heartless. You’re not kind like Sienna at all! “You abused Jingle so badly that its bone harmed its heart and lungs. It was Sienna who took it in and treated its illness!” I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. We had been married for just three months. When Joshua was away on business, I learned about his cat, Jingle. Due to an allergy to cat hair, I had to give Jingle up for adoption at my parents’ urging. Joshua calmly accepted this when he returned from his trip. How could I be the one accused of abusing that cat? Besides, Jingle was well-cared for by a distant relative. How could Sienna have rescued it?   “Joshua, don’t ever come to see me again after you leave!” I shouted. Joshua wrapped his arms around Sienna’s waist and walked away without looking back. I stared at the empty office, my gaze landing on the month-end expense reports scattered across the desk. There were several of them detailing purchases made in a hotel room. I couldn’t recall Joshua mentioning any recent projects that required accommodation. Even stranger was that he always came home late, falling asleep the moment he hit the bed. Those expense reports spoke volumes. I clenched my fists, took pictures as evidence, and left. Soon after, my relative sent me a video of Jingle. The once-small, white-haired, blue-eyed cat had grown into a chubby, lively feline, significantly larger than when we first got her. She was perfectly healthy—no cardiac arrest in sight. That night, I didn’t go home; instead, I checked into a hotel owned by my family. Despite Joshua’s incessant calls and apology texts, I chose not to respond. I reviewed the branch’s financial statements and discovered that four out of the five projects Joshua led had failed, while the other barely broke even. Such bleak statistics shocked me. The personnel manager informed me, “Ms. Scott, Sienna Gomez is not an official employee and hasn’t been entered into the system. “Mr. Walker must have arranged for her to join and settled her salary privately, bypassing company accounts.” My heart sank deeply. Joshua had been involved with Sienna behind my back! “Ms. Scott…” the personnel manager hesitated. I noticed her reluctance to continue and looked at her. She finally spoke up, “Sienna is always causing trouble. She even brought stray cats to the office, resulting in employees getting bitten by fleas. “Plus, she’s been stealing food from us! “The surveillance footage shows her feeding the stray cats, and leftovers have been rotting in the office corridor. The smell was unbearable!” I couldn’t believe Sienna was creating such chaos. “Does Joshua know about this?” I asked. The personnel manager nodded. “It was reported to Mr. Walker a while ago, but after Sienna came out of his office, nothing changed.” I acknowledged her explanation and asked a few employees about Sienna. “Ms. Scott, look at how badly my legs have been bitten by fleas! I went to talk to Mr. Walker, but he told me Sienna had a kind heart and that I shouldn’t be so hard on a cat.” “How can anyone just join our company? Sienna can’t even type!” “Exactly! She couldn’t even organize the files. I don’t get how someone like her can be paid eight thousand dollars!” Eight thousand dollars? That rang a bell. Not long ago, I noticed that amount mysteriously vanished from the card Joshua and I shared. So, he had been using our marriage funds to support his mistress. At that moment, another message from Joshua popped up, accompanied by a photo of diamond butterfly earrings. [Allison, please don’t be mad! I bought you a gift!] I was still grappling with why Joshua would suddenly do something so romantic when I overheard a colleague complain. “She’s poor. How could she afford diamond jewelry? It must be fake!” “That’s right! Or maybe she’s with a rich guy!” I walked over to Sienna’s recent Instagram post from just two minutes ago, flaunting a caption that read: [A full set of diamonds! Too bad I don’t have pierced ears, so my boyfriend tossed the earrings away.] The blatant showing-off hurt me. I felt like a fool for expecting a genuine apology from Joshua. I stormed into the president’s office, my expression icy enough to startle my dad, Marvin Nelson. “Next Monday, all managers and above will present their performance reports, and those with subpar results will be fired!” I declared. My dad, thinking I was merely reacting in anger again, chuckled. “Did you have a fight with Joshua? His performance has been lacking.” I maintained my serious demeanor. “Then fire him. The company doesn’t need slackers.”
