After my boyfriend’s female confidante hid under my bed, they regretted it

While getting intimate with my boyfriend, I suddenly heard laughter from under the bed. A cold sweat broke out on me. I quickly pushed Liam away, but just as I was about to get out of bed to check, he pulled me back down. “Getting distracted at a time like this? I’m punishing you by making sure you don’t leave this bed all day.” I didn’t suspect a thing, getting lost in the moment. My eyes were closed, enjoying myself, when suddenly, the bed frame was slammed hard. I jolted, shrinking into the blankets, as Liam’s best friend, Harper, burst out from under the bed, roaring with laughter. “No wonder Dog-face never hangs out with us anymore. If I had such a sexually frustrated, scandalous girlfriend, I’d forget my friends too!” The humiliation made my face drain of color, but she nonchalantly tried to yank the covers off me. “Dog-face always said you were big and soft. What are you shy about? Let me see too.” Liam saw she was going too far and quickly tried to stop her. But Harper slapped Liam’s bare butt. “Dog-face, your old man here has been waiting under the bed for ages! Instead of giving me a leg rub, you’re comforting someone else?” Liam didn’t hesitate, immediately taking her calf in his hand and massaging it. Harper shot me a triumphant smirk. And I? I promptly called Mrs. Campbell. “Godmother, are you aware that your son is letting someone call themselves his father and he’s playing along?” … “Daisy, are you insane! It’s such a small thing, do you really need to tattle to my mom!” Liam roared, pushing Harper, who was clinging to him, away. He snatched my phone and furiously pressed the hang-up button. “Harper and I are just bros! This is just a joke between friends. You’re going to call my mom? Are you even an adult!” As Liam fired off a barrage of accusations, Harper tilted her head back, practically looking down her nose at me. “If you want to be my boy’s girlfriend, you gotta learn to chill out and take a joke!” “My boy here bet me he could get you totally submissive in bed. I didn’t believe him, so he had me hiding under the bed, listening in. It’s nothing, why are you blowing things out of proportion!” Liam nodded in approval, glaring at me. “Now apologize to Harper!” I sneered, holding up three fingers, utterly shocking both of them. “Three.” Harper looked at me, utterly bewildered. “What are you trying to do? I’m warning you, Dog-face and I practically grew up in the same crib. You’re just a latecomer, don’t even think about messing with our bond.” Liam nodded in agreement. “She’s right, Daisy. You might be my girlfriend, but Harper is my best friend.” “This was just a little joke. Don’t use it as an excuse to pick on Harper!” I dropped a finger, unimpressed. “Two.” “Are you losing your mind? What are you counting, you weirdo!” Liam looked a little scared and reached for my hand. Harper rolled her eyes and pulled Liam away, casually pressing his outstretched hand against her chest. “I think she’s just terrified and having a meltdown. Fragile girls are such scaredy-cats, not like a tough chick like me.” Liam seemed utterly distracted by the soft curve of Harper’s chest against his hand, leaving me standing there. I used the moment to drop another finger. “One!” As “one” left my lips, a distinct *click* echoed from the front door. I arched an eyebrow at their stunned faces. “Liam, your parents are here, and they look ready for battle.” “Right now, you shouldn’t be protecting your ‘bro’ and lecturing me. You should be explaining to them whose son you actually are.” “You’re calling your parents over something so private? Have you no shame?!” Harper finally snapped, yelling furiously at me. I exaggeratedly covered my mouth, then slapped her across the face. “So you *do* know that couples being intimate is private? Then how did you have the nerve to hide under my bed!” Seeing his ‘bro’ get hit, Liam forgot all about his parents and shoved me. “Daisy! You’ve really gone too far this time!” “Harper’s just a tough chick, she was curious but too embarrassed to ask directly, so I just let her listen in to satisfy her curiosity. She didn’t actually *do* anything to you, what’s the big deal?!” Harper, protected in Liam’s arms, looked at me with eyes filled with venom. “Daisy, huh? Such a sweet name, but you sounded so scandalous when my Dog-face was on top of you. I’m going to send your recording to the SnapChat group right now so everyone can see your ugly side!” My mind went blank, and I stared at Liam. But Liam just glared back coldly, as if he agreed this was a fitting punishment for me daring to hurt Harper! The three of us stood frozen, but Liam’s parents weren’t having any of it. They stormed over like a whirlwind. Mr. Campbell punched Liam in the face, and Mrs. Campbell slapped Harper, sending her sprawling. “You two brats, is that human language you’re speaking?!” Liam and Harper were stunned into silence. Harper tried to protest, but Mrs. Campbell grabbed her by the hair and kicked her out the door. Liam tried to follow, but he was met with another iron fist from Mr. Campbell. “I told you before, this Harper, pretending to be ‘just one of the guys’ and hanging around with a bunch of boys, had bad intentions. She’s hurt Daisy like this, and you’re still chasing after her? Liam, are you blind?!” Liam gritted his teeth, unrepentant. “Who I choose to be friends with is my business. Mom, Dad, I’m an adult, can’t you stop controlling me so much?” As soon as the words left his mouth, Mr. Campbell’s palm landed on his face again. “Who wants to control you?” “We’re doing this for Daisy!” Liam didn’t know that Mr. Campbell and my father were comrades in the war. Mr. Campbell was gravely wounded in battle, an injury that left him unable to have children. My father, risking his own life on the front lines, saved him. After that, with no hope of having his own children, he adopted Liam. Compared to him, I was far more important in the Campbells’ eyes than their adopted son! Facing his parents’ furious wrath, Liam finally lowered his head. “Daisy, Harper genuinely just wanted to make a joke. If she really offended you, I’ll apologize for her, okay?” “I’m practically beaten to a pulp, please don’t be mad anymore.” Meeting the expectant gazes of the Campbells, I finally sighed and nodded. Since childhood, my parents had me recognize Mr. and Mrs. Campbell as my godparents. My godparents had been incredibly successful in business and were now immensely wealthy. Worried that their unreliable son, Liam, would squander their fortune, they approached my parents, hoping to solidify our families’ bond through marriage. They had sworn to my parents then, promising that no matter what Liam did, they would never let me suffer even a moment’s injustice. Now, it seemed, no matter what Liam was like, their words at least held true. Liam had his allowance cut off. Whether he genuinely regretted his actions or was just putting on a show for his parents, he eventually cut off contact with Harper. Seeing his cooperation, I also packed my bags, intending to settle in and be a good daughter-in-law to the Campbells. The two families quickly decided on a wedding date and made arrangements for the venue and decorations. After all the complex details were settled, Liam sheepishly pulled me aside. “Daisy, um… my friends are begging me to have a bachelor party. Can I go?” I was extra sensitive to that kind of talk now, and questioned him without a second thought. “Is your ‘bro’ Harper going?” “No, she’s not!” “After that whole incident, I didn’t dare hang out with her again, and the guys have all distanced themselves from her too.” As he spoke, Liam watched my expression carefully. “All my other friends are guys, I swear, not a single woman will be there!” Given that, there was no harm in it, I didn’t give it much thought and casually agreed. Liam’s friends and I weren’t close, so we didn’t talk much. They were all gathered together, having a good time, and I was happy to enjoy the quiet. However, as the party hit its stride, the private room door swung open, and Harper, wearing a black mini dress and sheer stockings, poked her head in. The friends who had been cold to me just moments ago instantly erupted. “Yo, Harper, what’s with the dress-up?! You never wear skirts!” Harper scoffed uncomfortably, then casually spread her legs and sat across from Liam. “Can you assholes speak like humans? I’m a woman to begin with!” Everyone laughed, and the private room became incredibly lively. Seeing Liam didn’t respond, Harper, amidst the cheering, plopped herself onto his lap. “All the other guys here compliment me, but you won’t even look at me. What, are you shy?” Liam’s face flushed, and he mumbled a “good” or “nice,” but his restless hands made no move to push Harper away. A flicker of triumph crossed Harper’s eyes. As if only just remembering I was there, she sprang up from Liam’s lap. “Oops, my bad. Daisy’s still here, I forgot to mind my distance again. Daisy, tonight’s a bachelor party, you’re not going to pull that ‘call your parents’ stunt again, are you?” I was about to retort when Liam suddenly tugged at my sleeve. “Daisy, my friends are all here. Give me some face, please.” I didn’t want to cause more trouble, so I swallowed my anger for the moment. Who knew Harper would take that as a win!
